thanks for the response Bill... I'm gonna try this as soon as I get home and will report back. not keeping my hopes up though... I don't know if the upgrade (e6300 to e6550) is worth the $100+ a new mobo will cost me.
any other input/previous experiences welcomed.
I have an ECS nforce 570 mobo that supports up to 1066 FSB and have been running a c2d e6300 now for a while without any problems. However, I tried putting in an e6550 which runs at a 1333 FSB and the computer didnt even POST. So I put the e6300 back in and updated bios but still no go. After...
looks great, but had you known what you were getting into, would you have still done it? it took a great deal of time and some money I suppose.
if you had to do it again, what would you do differently? I see this as a mega-project
I know there wont be a huge difference among such low-priced systems but some do sound better than others... a couple of years back I had a friend with a kenwood system and another one with a sony, both ~$300 and the sony did sound considerably better than the kenwood.
Of course, none were...
All right, if you had 300 bucks, what receiver would you get (speakers included)? I'm gonna be connecting to it my computer (beyondtv), satellite receiver, maybe the tv for cable channels, and (ta-daa!) a vcr.
I've looked around and most suggest some that cost $700+. I've come up with this...
the PVR-150 MCE does not come with any remote...
I think you should go for the PVR-150...the 1/8th audio converter to RCA will cost you no more than $5.
does anyone know if the remote included with this will natively control beyondTV or any other app? The interaction of the remotes with...
That would be the first person I've seen asking for his first pc to be upgradable and cost $350 ($250 really if you deduct xp).
I'd get him the compaq and tell him it's upgradable. You wouldn't be lying after all since he can surely add ram, a pci card and a dvd-rw. (Now, that's what I call...
It's probably just a defective fan that's on its last breath and thus making that noise. Are you sure you wanna slow down the CPU fan? 63C, that's about to catch on fire...
Go into the bios and make sure all settings are the way they should be. You can load defaults and if that doesnt work then go one by one making sure it's fine. Also, check the system time and date and make sure they are not being reset every time you turn it off cus that would mean a dead cmos...
I got this case/psu a while ago for the same thing you're gonna use it and it hasnt given me any problems even though it's on all the time. I tested the the power supply upon arrival and all the voltages were fine... I dont think it's such a bad idea.. good luck.
It could be all of that or maybe... it's just getting TOO HOT! try openning the case and running it like that, if you have a fan (the big, household ones) point it inside, if not, just try throwing some ice in there (and pray it doesnt short-circuit, j/k!!!) well, you get the idea... good luck
try changing the location of the memory modules, sometimes that works. also, go into the bios and take a look, make sure everything's fine, reset everything to defaults and see if that works, if not then go into it again and make sure the memory timing, etc is fine (sometimes "auto" gives you...
It's not finishing POSTing so it could be the processor or motherboard too. If you have a multimeter, check your power supply and also put the memory stick into another slot. Disconnect all non-essential devices such as cd drives, hard drives and the video card if you have onboard video and see...
I do go out and fix some computers once in a while so if it works, this would be very handy for me. I tried looking for others for comparison and the only other one I could find was this one that doesnt seem as good. Apparently these are not very popular; there's not a big selection of them...
"yet"? lol.. The more expensive one is, or should be, more durable of course, but that goes for almost everything, not just cameras. the xt sounds like the right camera for you if money is tight, however, if you plan on doing photography for money in the near future then I'd save up for the 30D...
I'd go for the 30D, the 20D may never hit the $900 range and if it does the 30D will cost less than now anyways so it wouldn't be worth it. The 20D is a really good camera but its price is so close to the 30D's that you might as well go for the newer one. The XT would also be good and it's not...
KIT LENS $70
Not the best but you can still get some decent shots out of it, it will be better than any P&S you can get for way below what you are willing to spend. You do have a point in the convenience of a small P&S though.
I need to connect to an ftp server from a computer that's not mine so I can't install anything on it... so, I need a program that will run with no installation required. I know I could use internet explorer except that the server has SSL encryption. I have tried using cuteftp at home and it...
Generally no but it all depends on what you have... wired vs wireless, 100mb vs 1000mb, number of computers, connection to the internet, etc...
if you have one/two computers connected to router with cat5 and a dsl/cable line then there won't be any difference..
nice pictures. what mode did you use? program, manual...? did you try taking many pictures and "stitching" them together to get a nice wide view? if not, next time you go to such a nice place you should consider that. :)
great picture.. I am glad you did not resize it, I think this is the best picture of the moon I've seen up to date; part of why it looks so good is because you didn't resize it. I asked you a while back about the costs of astrophotography and never replied to thank you for your response, well...
I finally ordered a 580EX. I was leaning towards the 550 but then I would be buying old, unsupported technology. After all, if they come up with a new product now or in the future it is more likely to work with the 580 than the 550 and the difference in price is not that much. Then I considered...
