Hey guys,
I have a WNDR3700v1 that I've been running DD-WRT on for some time. While I am happy with DD-WRT, it lacks GPT support, so I can't use my new 3TB external drive. OpenWRT - particularly this version https://forum.openwrt.org/viewtopic.php?id=27722, does have GPT support...
I'd prefer to save my cash as I doubt I can get much more performance with a full-cover block versus to the one I have now. But it definitely is an option and they look nice.
Hello all,
This may have been addressed before, but I'd like to confirm before purchasing any components. Here are my questions:
1. Is the Sapphire Toxic HD6950 2GB a reference layout (thereby supporting aftermarket coolers designed for this reference layout)?
2. I have a switech...
Hello everyone,
I have a Sapphire Toxic HD6950 2GB that I'm overclocking. The shaders were (fortunately) unlockable so I'm now overclocking the card and stress testing using Furmark.
I can play the Unigine Heaven benchmark with 920/1400 with +75mV vcore and Powertune set to +50% to make...
Hello everyone,
So I grabbed a Sapphire Toxic HD6950 2GB about a month ago, and finally am getting around to overclocking it. I flipped the on-card switch to to the 6970 BIOS and my system boots just fine, and GPU-Z and TriXX shows 1536 unified shaders unlocked :).
I played BF3 for...
Hello everyone,
I have a PCI-e eVGA 8800GT 512MB that I'd like to sell. It works great and has always been cooled properly.
$40 shipped to lower 48. Please pay through PayPal.
PM if interested. Thank you!

Video card: HD6950
Rest of the system is in my signature.
Hello all,
This might be a silly question, but:
I have an older PSU, but it should be capable of running a HD 6950. My PSU features 2x6 pin PCI-E plugs, but the video card has a 8 pin and a 6 pin socket. Do I need to get a 6->8 pin adapter, or is it fine to use as is?
Thanks!
Hello all,
I'm in the market for a 6950 2GB for BF3, and came across this deal:
http://www.amazon.com/XFX-6950-MiniDP-Video-HD695XCNFC/dp/B004ULZ7YY/ref=sr_1_4?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1318481988&sr=1-4
$270 shipped prime - $30 MIR = $240. Plus, no tax through Amazon (I live in CA, so...
I'm debating between the HD 6950 2GB and GTX560 TI 1GB. I'll be overclocking whatever I get and stick at waterblock on (already have a w/c system, so why not continue to use it?) Is the 1GB less VRAM going to be an issue for BF3? Or do most folks go with the GX650 TI 2GB version that is ~$70...
Well I might be upgrading the CPU and mobo in the near future, so I don't mind spending $250 for a decent video card. I'd rather be CPU limited rather than GPU limited.
*EDIT* Nevermind, I thought you said 460 and 470 :).
My PSU is kinda old, but it isn't horrible: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817163108
Is this good enough for a 6950 if I combine power from separate rails?
Hello everyone,
I have the system with specs in my signature. I've been out of the loop for several years with regards to PC hardware, primarily because real life kicked in and I haven't games much. With BF3 coming out though, I'd like to play it with some decent eye candy.
Can my Abit...
Nah, your units are off. Remember that kWh is a unit of energy; that is, a device consumes 1 kilowatt for an hour. Not sure what type of fan you have, but it is probably a 12V fan at 1A or so. So thats 12 watts, or 0.012 kW. So to run your fan for an hour, that means 0.012 kWh*3 cents, or...
Awesome, I'm glad to hear that I can still get some gaming life out of this PC before spending $1k or so to upgrade.
That said, will a Q6600 @ 3.4 GHz really be a bottleneck with the newer cards suggested?
Thanks for the information, everyone!
Hello everyone,
I've been out of the loop for a while as far as hardware goes. I have a IP35 Pro with an overclocked (water-cooled) Q6600 to 3.4 GHz and a 8800GT and 8 GB of DDR2 memory. With Battlefield 3 on the horizon, I'd like to upgrade enough to play at decent settings.
I think the...
