I have an Abit IS7-G motherboard whose northbridge cooler hoops have popped off. I guess I'm lucky they didn't short out my box.
Anyway, now I am in dire need for a replacement cooler that doesn't need the hoops. I am guessing that I am looking at a Zalman passive cooler attached with Arctic...

I opened up my box last night and cleaned out the dust bunnies. It wasn't that bad inside although there was some dust build-up in the fins of my heatsink. Cleaned out the fan filters, too. All fans were turning upon power-up.
I noticed that one of the "hoops" holding my chipset cooler on had...
Thanks for the response. All of the fans appear to be functioning. The main heat seems to be coming from the area of the power supply. The exhaust fan doesn't seem to be turing terribly strong, but it's hard to tell. If I place my hand on the case, it definitely feels warmest there.
I have a 3 or 4 year-old system that has suddenly starting running very hot. The system is running on:
P4 3.0 GHz
Abit IS7-G ("newest" BIOS)
Radeon 9800
2 X Maxtor SATA drives
2 X DVD drives
450 Antec Power TruePower Supply
Now soon after boot, the temps (using Winbond Hardware...
The easiest way to do this is to set up the list of recipients as a Group in your Contacts. Then when you send out an email to the group, use the BCC: field which will hide everyone's email from view. If BCC: isn't visibile under your CC: field, enable it in the Views menu.
Hope this helps
Run, don't walk, away from the deal. It sounds like a shady way to get money to someone in this country who shouldn't be here. Perhaps you should share this information with your local constabulary? At any rate, I hope that you didn't send all of your information to this guy. I don't know how...
I recently did a zero-level format of my hd and installed a slipstreamed XP Pro SP2. I notice now that when I click on Page Setup in Word XP, the first time it pops up right away with page information. The second time I click on Page Information, it takes a couple of minutes for the screen to...
Sounds like your motherboard may be shorting against something, especially the case. If you short the CMOS jumper and then press the power button, does it act like it's going to start up or just stay dead?
If shorting the CMOS doesn't improve things, take your moboboard and power supply out...
I am not sure, but I would suspect that those rings could pop out under pressure. I say this because I just replaced and IS7-E with the same clips due to them popping out. They caused a short and fried the mobo. This was using stock cooling.
Just my experience.
Oh snap! Those bottom clips that were missing...I found one by my video card, and the other's still MIA. I'm guessing that it shorted something out. How could I troubleshoot this dead board to make sure that my video card is still good without another computer?
Would a bad video card cause...
I came home to find that one of my work computers with an Abit IS7 was off. I tried to power it on, and the lights would come on for an instant, but then go out. No POST, no beep, nothing.
I opened the case and found that the NB cooler was only held on by the top clips. So it wasn't working...
Has anybody else noticed increased drive fragmentation after updating to SP2? I used to have to run DiskKeeper once a week, but now it's like everyday. Was there anything in SP2 that would account for this?
Do your BIOS and Windows clocks display the same time? I believe that the clocks are synced on the incoming 60Hz AC cycle. Is it possible that you have really messy power or are on a UPS that is affecting the incoming power signal?
The new beta does support SP2 and works like a charm. It has several great new features like beefed-up trojan detectors, so definitely dl it from eset's site.
I've got of couple of sticks of Mushkin Level II (Black PCB with blue spreadders) PC3200 that I want to unload. They're a pair of 256 meg BH-5 that I bought from NewEgg a year ago and have been running 2-2-2-5 in my P4 3.0c reliably at 2.7 V. I don't overclock them at all. Any idea what a good...
I have an Antec TruePower480 that has developed a noisy fan. Sort of a clicking sound that is really only noticeable when the fans are spinning at higher RPMs. Is there any easy way to replace the fans myself? If so, what sort of fan would you recommend. Otherwise, I'll have to RMA and be down...
Got mine yesterday, too. I've been using it for years, and it's the stuff in the world for cleaning auto vinyl. I put the free samples in my glove box in case of emergency.
I have a customer in the aviation idustry that needs his clock in XP Home to read 24-hour (military, UTC) time (e.g., 1:00 PM displays as 13:00). In Win 2K, this was easy, but I am not familiar with XP Home. Could somebody help me out? I had him set the clock to Greenwich Mean Time, but it...
I had the same issue with the northbridge cooler on my IS7-G. I followed the advice of the Abit forum crew and bought a ThermalTakeTiger 1 (link:http://www.thermaltake.com/coolers/chipset/a1163.htm). It was super easy to install and runs quieter and faster than the stock POS. Abit also sells a...
I tried to open a *.dat file with notepad, but XP changed all of the default icons for *.dat files to the notepad icon. How do I revert back to the default icon (a page with a dog-eared corner containing a window)?
Today I noticed an error in some .wmv file playback. The movie plays back and sound is okay, but the image has turned into "rainbows". The closest thing I can compare it to is the predator's infra-red vision. Seriously screwed up.
I tried to re-install the player and a system restore, but to...
I just setup a home wireless network and was wondering how much interference would be caused by 2.4 GHz cordless phones in the house.
Would the 5 GHz or 900 MHz phones be a better choice, or are interference concerns over-blown?
Thanks!
