I am wondering what the upside of it is outside of the media streaming which as I understand it was "nerfed" before release and could be handled by apps like Playon or Tversity anyways.
Anyone care to explain why I would buy this over the original if all I want is a simple file server that is...
How is your data protected and how will you go about adding more storage to the system later on, are you not limited to just the storage space on each individual drive?
I am wanting to build a data server for my home for shares that will contain our Pictures/Music/Documents and as a dump for our HTPC to record to and stream from. I was looking at Windows Home Server for the single fact that it allows one to pull drives that die and or replace drives for larger...
Personally I would disagree with the comments about no gaming performance increase, I noticed quit a bit of a boost using Raid 0 and playing MMO's. LOTRO had it's load times reduced considerably and "hitching" almost eliminated after switching over. The same however cannot be said in regards to...
Yeah that is what I meant, can anyone point me to a guide on how to properly short stroke using Raid 0? I have done some reading but want to make sure I am doing everything right.
I ordered three of the 640 gig WD Blacks, I might run two of them as Raid 0 and use the third in another computer but am considering running all three drives as raid 0. I understand the added likelihood of failure the more drives one uses in Raid 0 and have sufficient backup plans already in...
Link me some benchmarks or reviews that compare this drive with the 640 gig WD Black? The one I looked at showed that it had much slower access times and slightly faster throughput.
I have decided to go with the WD Black for the lower access times (SSD is too expensive atm) and to avoid the possible Seagate issues, which is painful to a degree as I have been using nothing but Seagate for years now. :)
The Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 ST3500418AS 500GB as linked above on Newegg yes, it seems to be the most likely choice but confirming before I place the order.
I am looking to replace my old Seagate "7200.10" 320 gig drives in Raid0 with something faster. I am not looking to spend allot and do not need a ton of room so I would like to stick close to 500 gig drives. My choices so far from the research I have done are below, please advise between these...
Sadly, Viewsonic is off of my list of choices. I have two VA1912wb's on my desk now and between the two of them I am sending in for repair for the third time. The support has been horrible and I cannot believe that two monitors bought months apart from different vendors would have the same exact...
I am looking to buy dual 22 inch displays, I work from home doing technical support and also a very heavy gamer. Price is a concern of course as I am buying two monitors, so far I am split between these two.

I bought the card knowing it would be a small upgrade from what I have, I am not looking to upgrade my mother board etc. for another 6 months or so.
I ordered it, not a shabby upgrade considering that it will basically be $50.00 spent on my part. After doing some research this card also appears to have a decent unlocking rate so my fingers are crossed for that.
I currently own the AGP version of the MSI 6600GT 128 meg video card and just found a great deal on a BFG 6800 Overclocked 128MB AGP Video Card.
I figure after selling my 6600 and pulling in some owed money from clients I would break even, would this in fact be an upgrade for me or a downgrade?
The good news: I laughed, to the top this thread goes for everyone to see for the rest of this week. Thanks for front page Steve!
The bad news: This is way off-topic to begin with, and the replies are even worse. You guys have had your fun, but I'm going to have to call an end to it. This...
Im savy enough to know what hardware I want or need (except vid cards) I dont keep up with them or play enough games to read all the reviews.
I prefer Asus but I own a few Abits as well, I also always use Crucial.
Newegg had your preferred board and 512 of Crucial for right under 150...
I havent kept up with the latest trends in video cards for awhile and I feel the need to upgrade my card so I pose this question.
Looking at my specs below and for around $100.00-150.00 what card would you suggest for me to get the best improvement.
