So, I built a machine to play BF3, nearly entirely new. I reused my old Power Supply, a PC Power and Cooling Silencer 750w. I also re-used my old HDDs, but I don't think they are a potential cause for this issue.
First, system:
AMD Phenom II X4 955
MSI 890FXA-GD65
8GB Patriot ram
Geforce...
Ok so. system as follows:
MSI 890FXA-GD65
Phenom II 955BE
8GB RAM
560ti
2x 250gb WD SATA HDD
So, obviously the black eye is the HDD, I'll be getting a SSD later. But for now I'd like to Raid these for some better performance.
So, if I activate hardware raid in the bios, Win7 craps itself...
So, i picked up a netbook for my wife. Cool little machine but i have zero knowledge when it comes to wireless networks. I currently have no network set up, just my DSL running into my computer. The guy at Best Buy aimed me at a Netgear Wireless-G USB 2.0 adapter, but it looks like its meant...
i think i do have modules on both sides with this ram....Does this problem only effect the clock speed? Or would it also effect the memory's ability to run at a lower frequency but possibly at cas 4?
Interesting. I actually lucked out on my proc and ram, got em for free...seems like they are pretty good parts, the cpu at least. Looks like i have some experimenting to do. :D
I just built a system with a Gigabyte GA-MA790x-UD4P, 7750 BE, and 2 GB Corsair Dominator DDR2 1066.
My intent was to upgrade to 4GB Later, as i have 2 open ramslots. But, now ive heard that populating all 4 ramslots (4x 1GB sticks) will result in the system becoming unstable at 1066 speeds...
Thats the big issue, they arent nearly cost effective yet. The Volt maybe, if you drive less then 40 miles a day 95% of the time. But the Prius/Insight take years for the gas savings to catch up to the buy-in cost.
Honestly the U.S. needs to get some diesel cars quickly. Thats a woefully...
Someone already hit on this, but it bears repeating. Cars and oil arent the only contibutors to greehouse gas production. the move to electric cars is important, and necessary though not in their current form, i think. The Chevy Volt and Honda Clarity are the only two cars i think are moving...
Thanks for the suggestion. Just to clear this up for me, are AM2+ Motherboards compatible with the new AM3 Processors coming out? I know there arent many differences, is CPU power consumption the only concern?
Thanks, thats exactly what i was looking for. I usually stay away from Mainboards with integrated graphics which had led me to nVidia boards. Any way, following your advice ive narrowed down to these:
ASUS M4A78-E

Well, i hate to make a thread like this but ive been out of the loop so long i dont feel good about making a decision on my knowledge alone. So i figured the Hardforum is the best place to ask :)
After the tragic death of m old epox socket 939 mobo i have discovered that socket 939 is basically...
boy, i'm retarded, i knew it would be something like this....i remember buying my power supply, a 430w antec trupower for my barton system, it had this extra 4 pin power connector that only intel used, i stashed is away so as not to clutter up the case....well, the system works much better with...
alright, another thing, my power supply connector isnt the same as the one on the mobo....it leave 2 rows open...i thought i read that this wasnt a big deal, just for sli...was i wrong? what are the extra's for?
well...im not eniterly sure its the mobo...
got a buncha new parts, 7800gt, 1 gig corsair ram, opty 148 and an epox 9npa+ sli.
everything went in fine (handt cleaned the case in a long time, dust bunnies had been fruitful and multiplied) but when i hit the power nothing appears on the...
ahh, good then, thanks for your input!
Edit:
So, an A64 3500+ is clocked at 2.2ghz as well..but with 1\2 L2 cache...is that such a big deal? the price is only 10 bux less. but if theres some reasonable performance increase for 10 dollars...
ok, its vidcard time again....i really dont plan on spending a ton of cash on a videocard, as i understand it the 7800gt is pretty killer, a little more than i'd like to spend, but thats ok. eVGA gets a lot of praise on this board, so i was looking at...
thats odd, Newegg lists opty 148 as Socket 939..are they wrong?

As i understand it, Videocards never really used all the bandwidth available to them with AGP...would a PCIE card be gimped on this card? or that the AGP card...
Looking into upgrading to Socket 939 from my old 2500 barton, ive picked an Opteron, more ram and a videocard...but tis more than i want to spend in one shot, so i was wondering about this board:

Its got AGP and PCI as well as...
So...christmas cash burning a hole in me pocket, i havent been in the PC hardware scene for quite a while....as you can see in my Sig, im in need of an upgrade. Processor, mobo, Video Card, and 1 gig of ram is what im shooting for, with Raid in the near future. If at all possible, i'd like to...
ok ive got a WINXPhome box and a WIN2k box, the Winxp box is connected to comcast cable (my modem\dhcp will not give out a 2nd IP addy so i cant go modem>router>computers). so im trying to share my connection. winxp will not allow me to share the connection. the option isnt even there. i also...
9700pro is at stock
ram is at 200mhz\2-3-3-7 i might be able to go lower but im more worried about stability right now.
ive stressed the hell out of the cpu\memory subsystems. i just cant run any graphics apps with out problems. arg...im going to reinstall gfx drivers right now.
got my fsb to 200 mhz, stable in prime95 for hours (have yet to see it fail but only tested for 4 hrs or so). Have not seen any system instability other that graphics related. 3dmark wont run without crashing, cant play RvS without the vpu recover kicking in every 20 minutes or so, all desktop...
Which is better\what is the difference? (for gaming mostly)
i found this on newegg http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=24-133-117&catalog=19&depa=1
