Well I had a corsair hx520 for 3 years and it blew a month ago. I submitted for an rma on Feb 28th and got an approval on March 1st. I took a few days to send it and when I did, I chose the slowest option from Canada to California so it took 2 weeks to arrive - Corsair received it on the 17th of...
bought an xfx 5850 and didn't get it
got an i5 750 + asus p7p55k-e pro and 4 gb of ripjaws at the same time
kept my hx520 psu and 2x250gb seagate drives.
cool, thanks for the link!
I got mine installed with the mcw55 and ended up ordering the swiftech heatsink that is made specifically for the 5850 and their mcw water blocks. looks sweet, and hopefully keeps it cool. still in the process of OS install but i'll run a game once all that is done :D
well i plugged it all in and configured the mobo to use the disks as raid and bam it was all there working right off, no loss of data (until i wiped xp to put windows 7 on hehe).
so i guess the intel controllers are interchangeable on the boards (ymmv though) haha
says so in the manual yet they provided 2 of them with the 5850 i bought? should i not be using them? my temp psu only has one 6 pin pci-e lead so i was going to use the provided adapter as a second pci-e connector until my new psu arrives (currently on rma with corsair)
I was running an intel p5kwdh i think running a mirror on the onboard intel raid controller, i'm upgrading my board to a p7p55d-e and looking to continue using my raid setup, do i have to set it up from scratch and lose my data again or can i just port it to the new board and have it work...
well i got my new asus p7p55d-e pro and core i5 750 today and i'm porting my existing watercooling setup to it, my storm block seems to get on there but it's tight, the mobo flexes a bit, is this bad news? Anyone else have to do this with their storm blocks? maybe i'm the only old schooler left...
voodoo2 was my first 3d card in my first computer that i built for myself so it gets a vote from me too haha.
was a big fan of the 9500non pro that modded to a 9700 as well, paid half the price of the 9700
great timing, just ordered the p7p55d-e pro today, not the same board but almost. looking forward to getting my hands on it more, thanks for reaffirming my decision!
I agree with the review too that the deluxe or premium version was a bit too pricey which is why I grabbed the "pro" and not...
I'm upgrading my 8800gts to a 5850 and was wondering if anyone knows if my mcw55 waterblock will fit on it? also, are these things still ok to have naked ramchips and stuff? I don't have any ramsinks on my 8800gts and it's fine.
hopefully my storm waterblock fits on my core i5 setup too.
prices for the 5770 are about $150 here in canada so i can get 2 for about $300, one 5850 is about $300 as well, not sure which would perform better in most games and which would have better eyefinity performace...
how does the gd55 stack up against the 65? if it's just the oc genie thing that's the difference then i don't need that (i'm more of a manual OCer anyway)
I bought a swiftech storm back in the day ( i think it's the storm, the one right before the apogee came out i think). just wondering if i need a kit to make it fit on an i5 board or not. currently running it on a c2d 6550 and still runs great! I'd like to keep it when i upgrade...
thinking of upgrading from my c2d 6550 but have been outta the loop for a while. don't wanna spend a pile of $ but i'm open to suggestions. i live in canada and will likely be ordering from www.ncix.com. I have mostly been an asus guy but have owned an msi before but didn't like their...
do the big cards fit in these with a hard drive in the middle bracket? i have an 8800gts and would use the middle 3.5" to hold my hdds and take the bottom one out to fit my pump etc... for watercooling.
ok so i got my new g92 8800gts in today and i put it in and play some games just to get a feel for it before i slap on the waterblock and bsod after a bit, probably overheated so i cranked up the leaf blower on it and it seems cooler but i want to put my block on it, problem is i don't have any...
pull the video card out and turn it on, if it beeps chances are it's the video card... you can count the beeps and verify that it is in fact your video card by looking in the manual or googling it.
that's a little weird, i ran CS: S on my 7800gt at 1680X1050 with most things on medium-high with a 3000+ at about 60-100fps when i upgraded my cpu and ram I got way better fps at the same settings with the same card. you should definately be getting higher than that. Try wiping drivers and...
I'm thinking about ordering a gts for myself and a friend, I have the corsair 520hx which should be fine but he has an antec 450w, will it be ok to run the GTS? He's currently running a 7950gt on it just fine...
at ncix, it's $319-$50 MIR. http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=27246&vpn=88ZFF6HUFEXX&manufacture=Galaxy%20Technology&promoid=1006
might be able to call their american number and ask for the same base price as the rebate is good in the US too. I think the newegg deal for the BFG might...
so would i be able to run 2X3870 in a p5k? what about a 3870 and a 3870X2 which are supposed to come out soon? my board says it supports crossfire but i keep seeing it referred to as crossfirex lately... any difference?
It has to clear customs, it may not always be the fault of NCIX that things take a little longer. I used to order from them all the time before I got a US address and found their shipping and prices great.
2nd, I don't think it's NCIX's fault that a manufacturer is making cards without the...
I have an LG 204wt that was hooked up to my 7800gt and the DVI cable broke on one end. The flat pin (blade) broke off the cable and was stuck in my video card's dvi port. I pulled it out as soon as I noticed and then stopped using the cable but now it seems that the DVI connection to my monitor...
anyone know what the default voltage is for a p5k for the northbridge? what's the max recommended?
I ran into a FSB wall with my 6550 at 510mhz so i'm going to see if adding some volts to the NB will help at all...
So i picked up a 6550 and i threw it in my p5k deluxe with OCZ 1066 ram and i have it at 3535mhz right now (7X505) at stock voltage. i've let it run orthos all day and it's rock solid (8.5hrs) but if i try to bump it up anymore, it seems that it won't post. anyone else have trouble getting far...
what's the highest FSB anyone has gotten on a P35?
I'm running my E6550 at 505x7=3535 right now and its solid but if I try and bump it up to 515 i don't get a post... I have OCZ 1066 ram so it should be able to handle more than this 1:1. I'm hoping i didn't run into an FSB wall, this cpu...
I have pretty much the exact same idle/load temps as you with the same processor at 3.2 ghz. i think i'm running 1.43v through it to get there and it's not quite stable either.
you can totally fit stuff in there... i got 2 rads, a pump, micro res and all the tubing inside my little p80. i can snap some pics for you if you want but basically i took out the HDD racks and popped 'em up where the floppy should be (don't have a floppy). My microres is in the 5 1/4" area...
