Someone bought the 2080 for more than a 3080?! Not really understanding that one but to each his own. I guess cause it's a FE?
BTW, good find on the 3090!
Im going to have to start another thread! I’m so stoked right now! I just found in my attic an almost complete Dell 440BX system sealed in a box! It has to have been sealed up there for almost 20 years! I have to find a way to get this thing up and running.! However, 4 wires are cut off the PSU.
Truth! I have an itch to play an old game called Chaos Gate that will only play on that old BX system. The only thing I don't have is an old PSU to power it up. I do have an old PSU from a Dell P4 system I still have running but the question is can I run my ATI X800XT PE on it.
Took the FX-53 off the market since I'm going to test them both after repair. I do have another 939 cpu somewhere. Was looking for an FX-60 but they're a tough find.
I took the K8NS off the market but sold the XP as is. Since I have 2 of the K8 939's I will make an attempt to repair them both and run them to see if it was successful.
Ugh looks like a few caps are blown near the cpu. Did not even notice. Repairable or garbage?

I dunno. Someone just offered me $65 for the K8NSNXP and I just posted that one yesterday and the RAM is already spoken for which was posted a few hours ago!
Wow. Someone wants $200 for this DFI LANPARTY! Wish DFI was still around! Some of the motherboards being sold look kinda sketchy. I guess...
Figured it was time to let go of some great socket 939 hardware. Both rigs were still running great before I retired them. The question is, am I asking too much? Most of the old stuff is being sold outside the US. The DDR1 RAM I'm practically giving away. Thoughts...
Disappointed in MSI. I've used quite a few of their mobo's cause I like their BIOS. They could have really upped their game by publicly responding to their product thanking him and would look into improving their product. Ass kissing of that nature is massive bonus points in a company IMO.
I hard wired most of my house with cat 5e years ago. When I played World of Tanks I would get pings in the single digits anywhere where it was wired. Due to virtual classrooms now I had to even use an old Linksys 10/100 switch from the early 2000's and wire another room. Depending on who your...
Already have wifi with the Verizon modem. Problem was when my wife was using Bluetooth to play her music it seemed to be interfering with my sons online classes using Zoom. Plus the router with wifi isn't ideally located with regards to my sons room. We did a wifi speed test in the room and got...
Thanks for the explanation! Explains why everyone was recommending the Netgear switch. No setting changes necessary. But it was fun to learn something new.
I guess if I need more ports. But right now all I need is setups for virtual classrooms in my sons room next door.
In the meantime ancelled the order for the Netgear switch. I'll deal with 'free' for now. Thanks for everyone's help!
Oh, in basic terms, what's the point of the Uplink & WAN...
Well I got the old Linksys router working! This whole time I had it wired wrong! I changed the IP address, disabled DHCP, I plugged it in LAN to LAN (LAN to WAN was wrong to do!) and BOOM!
60 Mbps download/ 55 Mbps upload!! Not too bad for an outdated switch!
The Verizon router is coax and downstairs permanently. It has to be the lead router. Plus I have two other pc's hardwired to it downstairs.
I could reverse it but I'd rather not have the lead router in a bedroom.
On that note the Netgear switch is on it's way and will be here over the weekend...
The Verizon modem is downstairs on the first floor. I ran an ethernet cable from that point around the outside of the house into one bedroom upstairs on the 2nd floor for a pc. Now I want to split that point into another bedroom on the 2nd floor next to it for my son. That's where the old...
The Verizon router is fine 54/58 download/upload speeds via wire.
I'm using Cat 5e ethernet cable throughout the house. And this was done back in 2004.
Was just using what I had stored away . Free is free right?
My son is stranded home doing his courses online so I wanted to get him off wifi. You don't need much speed for Zoom.
What do you recommend? Something simple like this looks good...
Don't know what I'm missing but can't get internet access with this old router. All the lights are on. I can access the router.
The DHCP Active IP table sees both computers. The Verizon FiOS router ethernet cable is plugged into the Linksys WAN.
What am I missing?
Yeah I know wired is the best but it's not possible for everything at this point.
That being said, Xbox is about 50ft away in a bedroom, the other Xbox is 30. the TV is about 30.
No straight lines of site of course.
Want to spend less than $200.
It's a B-day present for my kid's house.
Have no...
Upgrading one of my old systems from Vista to Windows 10 with a fresh install.
Specs:

Gonna pull my old rig apart & e-apply the thermal paste for my old socket 775 system before I install Windows 10 from Vista. CPU Q9650, GPU, & motherboard heat pipe for a GIGABYTE GA-X38T-DQ6. Best paste for all 3? AS5? Thanks.
Thanks for the tip. I'm just concerned that it's a motherboard chipset issue. If it comes down to that I might as well just build a new rig. But if it just comes down to a driver issue then I might as well just go the Windows 10/SSD route and be done with it.
