Memtest86: Cache enabled fine; Cache disabled not fine

Hello HF, Testing the memory with Memtest86 Pro v.8.4 (latest version) is no problem with cache enabled. If cache is disabled, then it doesn't work properly - a single pattern change takes around 2-3 mins. After 1 hr. was still on 0% of the test. The same with Windows 10 x64 Memory Diagnostic...

Grounded Wrist Anti-static Bracelet vs Non-Grounded?

Grounding works, because the Earth can be viewed as an infinite source/sink of electrons. I fail to see why anyone would risk thousands of dollars equipment because they can't be bothered to wear a cheap grounded strap. Just crazy, as is any 'non-grounded' fake grounding device - Jeez.

[SOLVED] New Build Problems - ASRock Z490 Aqua

Ok, sorry. Anyway - SOLVED - it was the ASRock MotherboardUtility(v3.0.327). This caused a variety of BSODs, though mainly Watchdog Clock. Way to go guys.

[SOLVED] New Build Problems - ASRock Z490 Aqua

Ok, so tried with one DRAM module, but the fault still occurred. Then tried a clean Win install, and it worked! Tried around 20-30 times with differing torture tests, and it resumed fine every time. On the failing installation, I could not get it to resume once out of multiple times trying. So...

[SOLVED] New Build Problems - ASRock Z490 Aqua

All 10th Gen processors are supported. The bsods also sometimes occur when starting Prime, maybe around 20% of the time. Certainly on the old machine (i7-2600K), sleeping during prime was not a problem - though admittedly the i9-10900K is a different beast. Tried an extended Windows Mem...

[SOLVED] New Build Problems - ASRock Z490 Aqua

Thanks - I already tried scannow - first time found errors, every other time ok. The ASRock utility shows 1.248 V CPU and 1.36 V DRAM during the Prime test. There is no XMP I, neither MCE that I can remember. The mobo is from this year, and they only made 999, so it's unlikely to come across...

[SOLVED] New Build Problems - ASRock Z490 Aqua

Ok, thanks. Unfortunately it didn't help, and got a blue screen a few seconds after waking from sleep. It was set to 3.98 V in bios - do you think it best to try even higher?

[SOLVED] New Build Problems - ASRock Z490 Aqua

Hello - Am having problems with a new build, so wrote to the Support (see below). I'm panicking a bit, so thought maybe someone here had an idea what to try next? Hi - Everything seemed good at first, was using onboard graphics. Started to get blue screens (usually Watchdog Timeouts), when...

Workaround for Missing Temp Headers on Z490 Aqua?

I've already bought a fan controller, and I could use the Uno to control them - but getting an adjustable temp/speed curve requires a connection to the PC. It would seem, at this point, the best way is the Uno-USB. The negatives are: interfacing the USB input with a monitoring program; the board...

Workaround for Missing Temp Headers on Z490 Aqua?

Ah, so you mean using the adapter to convert the Uno Coms to the MB USB header. But in that case the USB output from the Uno could be used directly. Do you think this would be picked up by a monitoring program, without having to code? Thanks, also for your thoughts on controlling fans based on...

Workaround for Missing Temp Headers on Z490 Aqua?

I do not think the Aqua z490 has a coms port - are you saying it does? It does have a usb2 header, and I guess the Uno could connect to that. But if possible, I would like to keep it simple, and the simplest method I can think of is to input pulses to a fan header.

Workaround for Missing Temp Headers on Z490 Aqua?

Hi, I've ordered the Aqua Z490; however, there are no temperature headers?! It seems this is common on ASRock, my last 4 boards were Asus. Thing is, I want to do a custom loop, and there is no direct way of reading the water temperature. Another post talked about using an Arduino Uno to send...
