Target doesn't do the e-delivery. They just mail you a physical card. Wal-mart, I think, emails you some sort of activation URL that you can forward along, though the last couple of times I've tried to order a Google Play gift card from Amazon, the order fails and gets canceled, so no idea why...
Hello. I have two computers. One is HDMI out, the other is DVI out. I have one external monitor that supports DVI in only.
What's the most efficient, inexpensive way (aside from manually switching cables out) to switch between displays? Ideally some sort of switch that supported dvi and...
Hello. I have an OSX box with a Unix development environment that I access via VMWare fusion. I also have a VPN client in there for good measure, and am using NAT to connect my Vmware instance of Unix to OSX. I'm a developer, and for IE testing, I have to load another VMWare fusion instance...
Hello. I have a large quantity of USB thumbdrives that I bought in bulk from China for cheap. The drives are recognized just fine in OSX and Windows. They come up as having a capacity of 1 GB. However, when I try to copy to the device, it'll start copying fine to about 100Megs and then it'll...
Hello. I've been out of the hardware game for a while, especially once I got in to development, software became my game and hardware fell by the wayside, though I still know plenty to be dangerous.
I have a laptop here that has bit the dust, so I'm in the market to build my own. What I'm...
Hello. I have a Verizon um175vw in Mac OSX 10.6.
I am trying to establish an internet connection through the modem (which i have) and then connect through the Cisco VPN software.
The Cisco client connects, but does not seem to work, as I can not ping any internal websites.
Has anyone...
Wow ShrewSoft VPN gave my Windows 7 the BSOD ... my computer would reboot, log in, and BSOD again. I had to safe mode and uninstall the little bugger. Not doing that again.
in regards to the shrewsoft client... seems like there are a lot of settings I don't know what to do with. My company only equipped me with a shared key, username, and VPN server to connect. The Cisco VPN client works with all of the default settings. Any idea how to configure shrewsoft for a...
Hello. I am running a 64-bit windows client. My workplace only has a 32-bit VPN client. So I've installed 32-bit Windows XP in VMWare and have installed the VPN client on this guest OS. I am able to connect to the VPN and access the internal sites through the VPN.
Is it possible to...
20 developers. it's more for innovation development. Testing implementations across a variety of platforms and server configurations, tapping in to real-time inventory, etc.
You'll have to forgive me, i'm more of an information architect than a server guru.
Hello. I'm looking to build the ultimate development environment. Multiple operating systems running simultaneously supporting a myriad of development environments with plenty of horsepower.
If money were no object, what would you recommend?

There's a website that is a big RSS aggregator. It's a sharp looking page, black background, has boxes for various popular sites that you can customize.. in the middle there are thumbnails for youtube, flickr, etc... WTF is this site? I can't seem to dig it up or find it anywhere.

Hey all. Apologies. I wish I had the time to surf the boards and get myself back up to date on hardware, but since I went in to programming about 7 years ago, my hardware skills have gotten dustier and dustier.
Basically I'm going to have about $600 to upgrade my motherboard, processor and...
Hello. Is it possible to disable the Windows-D keyboard shortcut in Windows XP? I keep hitting it by accident and it's very annoying.
any help is appreciated.

I'm looking for new software to organize my Mp3 collection. I've been using Winamp for ages, and though it's a nice, lightweight player, it lacks real organizational functionality.
It'd be neat if I could tag and rate individual tracks. That way I can see all of my downtempo glitchy mixes...
I hear Google's going to unveil some big "shared space" service soon... This makes a whole lot of sense. More and more, storing files (documents, music, and videos) on the harddrive is starting to make less and less sense. Not only because you cannot access them remotely, but maintaining the...
Until the Asus Eee PC701 comes out, maybe check out the Nokia 800... I hear good things. I own a 770 and it's a bit sluggish... It's kindof a pain to use, overall.
I have a palm treo 700p that is working well for a phone/mobile web-type device... Though you can only do mobile websites easily...
I'm currently searching for the best PC laptop I can get for under $900. Right now I am looking at this one:

It looks pretty decent, but am kinda hoping to find a core 2 duo as opposed to the turion....

What is this problem? I can hear a steady tick, almost like the seconds from my clock coming out of my laptop's speaker. I can hear it in headphones, too. It's fairly pronounced.

Hello. I have an older LCD flatpanel (unfortunately I don't have it in front of me so I can't give a model number) but it has a weird kind of power cable. Not a normal CPU power cable... But a small, 4-hole female port for a power cable. I need to order a replacement but don't know what kind of...
The Asus Eee seems to be exactly what I was talking about. Can't wait to try one out. Though I didn't get any specifics on the web browser. I hope it's Firefox.
yes, that is sad but true. Americans want the best and the biggest...
But, it's all about marketing, too. If it were stylish and sexy as well as affordable, I bet it'd do wonderful. Wifi and "on the go" products seem to be picking up traction.

You know, I think a great idea for a product would be a laptop that sells for about $250 - $350, is solid-state (ideally), and runs a simplistic OS (Maybe Linux), has WIFI, and has web browsing capability, the ability to check email, etc. Something small you could just throw in a bag and take...
I think gmail's spam filter is HORRIBLE. i've had to create my own spam filters in gmail just to try to combat the constant flow of spam that I get on a daily basis.
Thunderbird was really, truly awesome for spam filtering. I almost think it's worth having Thunderbird running on a dormant...
There should be a website that lets you sign up, enter your current email address and pop/imap information... This "website" is always downloading your email, regardless of whether or not you are logged in, and filters out the spam, forwarding it along to your real inbox.... So it acts as a...
Hello. I currently have a K6 AMD Socket 7 1.34Ghz processor in my ABIT motherboard. I want to upgrade the chip, but am not sure what I can upgrade to. Can I upgrade to a Super Socket 7 chip? What would you recommend?
My CPU is:
Is this Socket 7 or Super Socket 7?
Thanks,

Well so far MojoPac is freaking great! Installation was a snap and now I'm in there installing some classic apps of mine (firefox, totalcmd, etc). It's fast! I'm....... not quite sure HOW it works, but i like it!!
One thing you CAN'T do is manipulate files on your harddrive with the software...
