Hello. I currently have a K6 AMD Socket 7 1.34Ghz processor in my ABIT motherboard. I want to upgrade the chip, but am not sure what I can upgrade to. Can I upgrade to a Super Socket 7 chip? What would you recommend?

My CPU is:

Is this Socket 7 or Super Socket 7?

You dont have a Socket 7 CPU or motherboard. You don't have a K6 either... Not if it's running at 1.33GHz... You most likely have a Socket A AMD Thunderbird CPU.. I doubt your mobo supports anything faster then 1.4GHZ AMD's...
eBay would most likely be where you wanna get "new" parts...

Actually, after downloading CPU-Z my CPU is a "Socket A" chip... so that may open my options a bit?

You've updated your post as I was replying...;)
Anyways. it's NEITHER socket 7 or SS 7 (Thats old school crap so forget about it)
It's still Socket A.
If its a 1700+, you mobo may be able to support faster CPU's like 2600+ or better.
You need to find out exactly what mobo you have, and check for the latest BIOS updates to see what CPU it will support.
Good luck.

save yourself some money. Get a 3000+ s939 from newegg for $55 and a cheap s939 mobo and hsf for a ~$90 investment that is worth it.

He might need a new psu and ram as well, but yes, if the budget is there just go ahead and take a few steps up. You'll be far happier in the long run. Sometimes those older cpu's can be somewhat expensive so weigh out your options and do what's best for you.
BTW if you decide to upgrade and need some new ram I highly recommend this:

That's what I'm running and its screaming stuff. Will just about hit 280 mhz.
