I have an X99s MSI Gaming 7 motherboard w/5930K CPU, and Corsair DDR4 2800 memory. I only really tried out my first O/C last night because I found the process somewhat confusing.
Months ago since got the system, I've always enabled XMP in BIOS (not the OC Genie - just XMP)
Thist set my ram to...
naticus: What do you mean by the game doesn't like your overclock? I've got an i7 2600k 3.4 overclocked to 4.2. Could this cause me problems? Does the game somehow break if you have an overclock? Despite dual 7970s, I get terribly choppy framerates, huge video lag and drop spikes, my performance...
P4rD0nM3 -- May I ask what overlay program you are using? Afterburner doesn't work for Bf4 beta and I'd like to have a program that will show me in game the same information you have in your screen cap.
Tried flashing it back yesterday, getting an error that my subsystem doesn't match or something. Apparently the Ghz bios makes it so that my card won't accept flashing back to my old bios. Won't accept the original XFX 7970 Core edition bios.
As for the 750 Antec, I've read the 7970 Ghz...
Intel i72600k 3.4 OC to 4.2ghz
8 gigs of corsair 800hmz PC3-12800 9-9-9-24 DDR
A couple of OCZ Agility 3 and Vertex 3 SSD drives
Mobo is an MSI Z68a. The CPU and RAM overclocking is just done with the MSI Genie.
Case is an Antec but I can't recall the model, power supply is also antec 750...
Hey guys. So I have the XFX 7970 Core edition (925/1375). I flashed the BIOS over the summer to Gigahertz Edition (1050/1500). At that time I was gaming in 1920x1080. Load temperatures rose from about 73-74 to 76-78. Wasn't a big deal to me. It's run perfectly for months, and still is...
Got mine yesterday. Big shiny red stuck pixel in middle right quadrant of the screen.
Monitor is beautiful otherwise. BF3 looks insanely good on Ultra, tho I may need to add a second GPU cause at 1440p resolution my framerate drops into the 40s (7970 video card)
Anyhoo, no backlight bleed...
I'm running a 7970 and play Battlefield 3 on Ultra, but usually with 2xMSAA (not 4). My performance was always good, 60fps most of the time with occasional dips to 50. B2K maps were a little framier, tho, especially on ultra settings. Dips down to the high 40s, while rare, still happened. Still...
XFX 7970 Core Edition here.
1125/1575 overclock, via the CCC slider.
No problems, ever. Moving the extra power slider seems to have no impact on anything.
Max temp under load ~74 degrees
Edit: Ok found out that the slides on Tech Power up site were misleading and the render test has nothing to do with getting the ASIC value. You get the ASIC value just by right clicking the utility menu bar and selecting Read ASIC quality.
Mine's 74%. I don't know what it means, exactly.
Hey guys. For the life of me I can't find any threads anywhere for us XFX 7970 Core edition owners. Lots of black edition reviews out there, and double D reviews and owner threads... but not much doing for CE owners. So I wanted to get a thread going. Specifically, I'm interested in hearing...
