i butchered a cheap case i got at frys too. kept an external raptor nice and cool. then i discovered that thermaltake made a really nice usb 3.0 enclosure with fans.
i had the 600T and i had 2 fans on the bottom 2 spaces and the small mesh causes a lot of fan/wind noise. i needed it to keep positive pressure in the case.
hi guys im new to AMD processors and motherboards. my spare system is a FX-4100 with a Sabertooth 990FX with 16GB Corsair Vengeance DDR2-1866.
everytime that i go to the memory profiles and select the 1866 SPD the system won't boot into Windows, before and after the install. any tips? i thought...
the 4K performance of the 830 is better than the Vertex 4, more or less depending on the firmware, usually means the day-to-day use the 830 is faster. but at <256GB there isnt much difference.
when i went from the Vertex 3 120GB to 830 256GB there was a big jump. but there would have been a...
im interested in why AMD hasnt released it to the public yet. or maybe they are trying to limit supply so that they dont end up with truckloads of Llanos and end up giving them away like they did at quakecon.
not ideal but it does fit in a Antec 900. the drive bays directly behind them cant really be used. ssds will fit but not 3.5" drives.
plus its a older case and cable management isnt great.
^THAT x100000000. always trying to up-sell when you know exactly what you're looking for and never helpful when you have a question.
we also have central computers. not the best prices and not as wide a selection, but at least the service is good there.
i've have 2 R6970 Lightning's in my 600T but i wouldnt consider it a mid-tower. i've put a reference 6970 in a Antec Solo 2 but the airflow isnt too great in that case. i've also put a reference 6970 in a Fractal Arc Midi and it fits quite nice.
pics for reference.
600T
antec solo 2. ive...
that sounds a little slow. but since SSDs have great random performance, the bump from a mechanical to SSD makes the computer feel faster anyways.
did you do a fresh install of Windows? did you enable AHCI/RAID mode in BIOS?
my little ASUS eee will rip ~100MB/s sequential on CrystalDiskMark...
at those prices i would get the agility 3. most have free shipping and mail-in rebates.
i would use these as an external to test out reliablity/speed before dropping it in my main rig.
[SOLVED]
i looked at the CF bridges and it was marked with a date from 2006. i replaced it with a bridge from my main rig and everything worked. i think the bridge was from my very first rig and maybe ATI/AMD changed the pins or something.
i feel stupid that i didnt try this earlier.
yup latest drivers for everything. i just put this build together. mobo BIOS is latest also.
ive reseated everything twice now and im still getting nothing. weird.
just bought another HD 7770 for my second system and im getting this message when i try to enable CrossfireX
The AMD CrossFireX internal bridge interconnects linking your graphics cards together are not properly attached. Both bridge interconnects must be attached. For more information, see...
^ true but if you already have both pieces of the puzzle like the OP does i would go ahead and give it a try.
for me i have the 6670 but no Llano which is why im in a weird place still thinking about whether or not to go do the Hybrid Crossfire.
ive been looking into this for a while for a SFF/HTPC i am planning.
from what i read you turn it on in Catalyst and CF's the IGP in the A8 and the compatible card. from the reviews around it looks like it will bump the performance a bit. youre not going to get monster performance but its a...
ive been using CS5.5 with my current setup and i suggest 16GBs. with a 3-4 minute clip in AE i max out RAM in preview with 1080p footage.
with my 2600K bumped to 4.5GHz im pretty happy with performance but that is coming from an old Q9400 Yorkfield. ive never experienced GPU-acceleration...
i was in the same spot a little while ago. i bumped the Q6600 for a Q9400 @3.4GHz and swapped out to 8GBs of DDR2-800, 7770 and a vertex 3 and it performed really well. strong upgrade from the 4GBs and 4850.
but when i built my sandy bridge system it was a huge leap in performance. but it was a...
ive been looking for a good fan replacement for my H80 for a long time. i had the scythe GT AP15, scythe slipstream 1900rpm pwm, silverstone air penetrator AP121, noctua nf-f12 and the cougar cf-v12.
the AP121, NF-F12 and CF-V12 all performed about the same at full load/speed. it kept my 2600k...
i have both the Sonata and Sonata 2. the updates that Antec made are pretty useful and the cable management spacing is useful. its still just as solid and well built but now has USB 3.0 and 120mm intakes.
i rebuilt the system that i had before in my Sonata 1 and moved it to the Sonata 2. put in...
i dont have the Corsair 200mm fans anymore just a Noctua 120mm in the front. i have my hard drive cage full and i dont think i could move the drives up but that does make sense.
i thought about moving the drives to the lower position but it was in the way of the second R6970 intake. i've...
i also have to bump this thread with a question for anyone with a 600T with MSI R6970 Lighting's. anyone have a good suggestion for good airflow? the R6970's expel exhaust into the case.
yesterday i had a weird experience during bootup. i have a 300GB VelociRaptor with an Intel 320 80GB for RST cache partition and a small scratch space for photoshop/ video etc.
when i boot up it gave me a "Reboot and select proper boot device" error. checked the order of the boot drives and...
any suggestions for an aftermarket two-slot cooler? i don't really have the space for a triple slot cooler. i have reference 6970's in Crossfire and they get mighty hot and loud on BF3.. i average about 80C on the top and 70C on the bottom card.
@speedlever i ran into the same problem also. i think the USB3.0 Boost is for UASP support. im only guessing that cause i saw ASUS talk about it on the newegg review of the X79 boards. i moved some stuff around from a SSD to an old Raptor drive and i was getting 150MB/s transfers. sounds like...
you know what i sort of answered my own question. just installed the 1101 BIOS because EZ-Flash is so easy anyways..
it fixed my slow POST. down from ~25 seconds to ~12 seconds including the Intel OPROM..
any feedback on the 1101 BIOS? i'm experiencing really long POSTs, about 20-30 seconds even with the eSATA and Marvell and JMicron off. no overclock just the Intel RST.
