Solved: Asus Rog Strix 3090 (non-oc) TimeSpy GPU score... lowish?

I've aligned with the OC specs; Simply added 165 mhz Core clock, and set the PL to 112% (390 TDP), and the results speak for itself: TS: https://www.3dmark.com/3dm/70540804 (GPU score 20367) PR: https://www.3dmark.com/3dm/70541325 (GPU score 13801) 🎉🥳

Solved: Asus Rog Strix 3090 (non-oc) TimeSpy GPU score... lowish?

To close the loop, I found the reason why reviews show 3090s that have slightly better scores than the 3080 Ti FE...: My card (Strix 3090) has a stock boostclock of 1695 mhz @350 tdp. The cards used in those reviews are the MSI Trio version with a boostclock of 1785 mhz @370 tdp.. it adds up...

Solved: Asus Rog Strix 3090 (non-oc) TimeSpy GPU score... lowish?

TimeSpy Extreme @ Default / Stock: https://www.3dmark.com/spy/25428861 This is more like it... and rather how I'd expect the 'normal' TS to run as well. At any rate, I think I'm good. It's all marginal with a few deviations, and as mnewxcv mentioned, it's rather inline with other 'stock'...

Solved: Asus Rog Strix 3090 (non-oc) TimeSpy GPU score... lowish?

https://www.3dmark.com/3dm/70483388 Well, atleast it's consistent with scoring below average  Score is 12.8k, so on the ball with the 13k. Interesting again how the GPU decides to run at a 1785 clock speed. Atleast the average isn't far off this time...

Solved: Asus Rog Strix 3090 (non-oc) TimeSpy GPU score... lowish?

Afaik, this is what it's supposed to do. PBO does some autoclocking, these values are all over the place by default. The idea is it overclocks itself when needed, and goes down when idle. Behaviour when idle -> opening Outlook

Solved: Asus Rog Strix 3090 (non-oc) TimeSpy GPU score... lowish?

Can you elaborate? Currently I have PBO and all settings with regards to the Bios on 'Auto'. The only thing I changed there is the memory profile (OCMP) so it runs 3200.

Solved: Asus Rog Strix 3090 (non-oc) TimeSpy GPU score... lowish?

Interesting that post :) I read it a couple of days ago, and yes, it gave me some piece of mind. So, the whole 'issue' here is that I've lost the silicon lottery, as where you had won it? ;) Was thinking also about my RAM speeds... it shouldn't count to GPU score, but I read a lot of posts of...

Hi Pendragon, no, I didn't alter the resolution in TimeSpy. It's the default. My monitor is a 3840 x 1600 though. Afaik, it shouldn't matter as it gets upscaled. The benchmark is default. Fairly recent, not many applications installed and definitly not much running (I close everything that's...

Thanks for your replies so far. Furious_Styles: Yep, G-Sync is turned off. Pendragon: It's a new card, bought it in March last year (2021). mnewxcv: I've done a undervolt following your guide (thanks for that!). My results (2040 curve) @ stock with the undervolt / 100% power...

Solved: Asus Rog Strix 3090 (non-oc) TimeSpy GPU score... lowish?

Hi Denpepe, Yep, using 3 separate cables. I have a 1500 watt PSU, so I'd think it's fine. I've installed the AIO Alphacool Eiswolf 2 waterblock today. It lowered my GPU temperature to 25c idle, 48c when benchmarking. Vram is between 35 (idle) and 56 (bench), while memory junction is 38c...

Solved: Asus Rog Strix 3090 (non-oc) TimeSpy GPU score... lowish?

I did think of that as well, but my GPU temp is around 55c, and memory between 60-70c when benchmarking. Rather low, but then again, I've got some good cooling in my case. Also GPU-Z never mentions thermal throttling as a perf cap, always power limit... Tomorrow I'm receiving my AIO waterblock...

Solved: Asus Rog Strix 3090 (non-oc) TimeSpy GPU score... lowish?

Solved: nothing wrong with the card. The Asus Rog Strix 3090 (non-oc) has a stock boostclock of 1695 mhz @ 350 TDP. This is low compared to other cards (e.g MSI Trio) which have a stock boost of 1785 mhz @ 370 TDP. It explains the difference in scores and reviews. After adding 165 mhz Core clock...

1st gen. Intel SSD better read results than Vertex 4?

I've decrypted the drive, and did the Benchmark again. I get the same results, leading me to believe it has no performance impact. However, my SATA ports are SATA3, so that might explain the difference between my benchmark and that of CWaffles :P Thanks for the explanation Westrock2000.

1st gen. Intel SSD better read results than Vertex 4?

Hi all, I just ran a benchmark against one of the first Intel SSD's and a new Vertex 4. Can some1 explain to me if this is correct? The Vertex 4 is way faster in writing, but in read, the Intel kicks its ass in every way. What do the different speeds actually mean, like 4k etc, and...

    I7 975 + Asus P6T SE

Thx for the replies all. Just to be 'save', I used Asus' Turbo-V tool to find the lowest possible voltage. However, I didn't get any stable results at the voltages I should see (was still ~1.3v where people seem to easily have ~1.1v). In the end I decided to leave it stock ;) With the...

Hi all, My setup: i7 975 Asus P6T SE 12 GB OCZ3G1333LV2G (which runs at 1066 at stock, had to manually up the DRAM to 1333 and set 9-9-9-20 timings) I just got an i7 975 and read a bit about OC. I saw examples where you can leave everything stock (turn off speedstep and c-state) and...

Much better playback with Samsung's build-in SmartHUB than with powerful HTPC!

Hey m8, Yep, game mode will achieve this. I was only hoping (and deluded by) the Samsung Clear Motion Rate, that it also was applicable to the 24P movies. I actually like the soap opera effect :P However, since the Hz rate gets multiplied, so does the natural lag that comes with true 24P...

Much better playback with Samsung's build-in SmartHUB than with powerful HTPC!

Well, i've figured it out... I went to the BCC (a AV store in Holland) this afternoon with my HTPC, and i've hooked it up to all TV's in the store: Sony, Philips, LG, Panasonic, Samsung, plasma, LCD, LED, the works. The problem with the judder is everywhere. And now i'm also clear on what...

Even tho it looks a bit better, i still have this really minor framehop every several seconds. again, barely unnoticable. Gonna try older drivers, e.g. 11.4 from Ati as opposed to 11.9. If not better, gonna follow 2 more guides that i found.... this thing is driving me nuts.

Much better playback with Samsung's build-in SmartHUB than with powerful HTPC!

Hi m8, thanks for explaining the above. I understand that when reencoding movies, u don't have to bitstream the sound. I did some testing last night, and i must admit, that i had some problems while playing Clash of the Titans through the Samsung. It gave some frameloss, and constant...

Much better playback with Samsung's build-in SmartHUB than with powerful HTPC!

U mean A/V Sync Method: Audio Clock? If so, yes, but tbh i didn't check the scene @ 25:00 with it... i only tested those 3 options for the intro, but i was only looking at smoothness of playback at that time. It didn't make a difference, so i left it on Video Clock / Resample Audio. I'll...

Much better playback with Samsung's build-in SmartHUB than with powerful HTPC!

Ok, i've tested XMBC, and this is what i noticed: - XMBC playback / refreshrate is better then MPC-HC; - When checking the 'adjust refresh rate to the display' checkbox, the playback gets very close near to the SmartHUB playback; - I noticed that it doesn't use bitstreaming tho, so i...

Hi all, thx for the replies. The differences in quality between playing on the HTPC and the Samsung SmartHUB are nearly not noticable, but it's there. I'll try with XBMC and see if that gives a better picture then the current setup. As for Avatar; it seems that due to it's high bitrating...

What kind of software do you use for playback on the HTPC? Computer crash when processing large amounts of data

Computer crash when processing large amounts of data

Well, here we are, almost at the end of my adventure in OCZ memory land. I inserted the memory as stated before. My computer was running rock solid with 10700 in A1,A2, and 8500 in B1,B2. CPU-Z confirmed the memory was running @ Dual Channel, and it ran on the lowest speed (533 MHz)...
