Without the scaler, don't HDMI-DVI connections show up as using only a portion of the screen? (That is, the number of pixels they are using - so you'd have a large black border).
Yeah it'd be very weird for windows service problems to be caused by video drivers. Sounds like your system isn't handling your overclocking very well. Stock speeds for a couple days is a good test.
So I'm getting my first ever ATI card (5850) in a couple of days, and these threads have me wondering what is the best set of drivers to install on Win7-64? I'm getting an XFX Black Edition that is "overclocked." Does this just mean the drivers they bundle it have it pre-set for higher clock...
Dammit.. Newegg didn't ship my card out yesterday. Another day of delays before I can go back to playing games. (My 8800GT has been 191.07'd and can't run games currently).
I jumped on the Black edition, only because I'm in dire need of a video card. Since 191.07 killed my 8800GT, I am unable to game so I jumped when I was able to order a 5850. Oh well... normally I would have held out for one of the ones that was "only" $309.
I guess I'll call them tomorrow to cancel and grab one from Newegg when they are available again.
