Lose the attitude, when I opened your link it had them for $105, I posted some quick AMAZON deals to prove it wasn't a hot deal at $105 AFTER rebates. I wasn't the only one that saw the $105 price... prices change big deal.
It's weird because 80% of the time it's not noticeable, but every once in a while (not just when seeking) the drive bay will start resonating and making a LOUD humming noise that stops as soon as I apply pressure to the side of the case... I've tried some felt pads, tightening, loosening the...
It's not much yes it does have some space.
Here's mine:
The one downside to this case is the vibration from the HDD is driving me crazy... I ended up removing it from the hdd cage and just letting it lay inside the case vertically.
First of all, go through all the Microsoft support hoops, I did and got a brand new mouse without having to ship mine back.
I have a Microsoft Laser Mouse 6000 that suffered the same thing, except it was on the left click button. The actual "Clicking" sound is made by the push-button sensor...
Yikes...out of all those components I'd keep... the ram and the case, the rest is rubbish. Read the sticky and answer the questions so we can help you.
I'm looking to buy a new main drive for my computer, my "old" 320gb (only 70gb free) will probably go into another computer and I'm not interested in RAID. I don't know when I'll get the chance to upgrade again so I might as well go for 1TB. So far my options are:
-Hitachi 7k1000.B $89...
I have a 320GB WD caviar blue in my 300 right now and it's driving me nuts... Every few mins or so the case starts vibrating pretty loudly and it only stops after I apply pressure to the side of the case... Would this work? How much would it affect temperatures? I like the front 120mm fan...
I have a 2x 2GB kit which has served me well. MPICH seems to be working just fine, finished my first WU today. I did get a "Failed to delete work/wudata_01.sas" error but I suspect that may have something to do with Diskeeper 2009 being installed...
Now I can proudly say:
Thanks for the...
Memory is at 5-5-5-12 since yesterday morning, a full run of memtest showed no problems :S
I'm using DEINOS though.. maybe I'll uninstall, delete everything and go with MPICH.
Sigh.. now GPU2 is working fine and SMP is giving me trouble... I keep getting FILE IO errors.. first it was
[22:47:14] Size of work/wudata_01.xtc not what saved.
[22:47:14]
[22:47:14] Folding@home Core Shutdown: FILE_IO_ERROR
Then I got another a few mins ago that just said...
Doh, that was it, running at 100% now. Thanks!
<edit> Just had another reboot, it happened as GPU2 was finishing a unit apparently. My computer is 100% stable with prime95 and IBT, CPU temps never go higher than 54c and GPU tops out at 65c so don't know what is causing this...
I'm pretty sure I followed the installation guide to the letter but then again it was 4am so who knows. Here's what task manager shows 80% of the time with some quick spikes to 30-40%.
Also woke up to the unpleasant surprise of a turned off computer so I'm not gonna use GPU2 until I figure...
Just wanted to say hello, I was a United Devices junkie back in the day and since the nice folks at the [H] helped me put together my new computer I figured it was time to start folding as promised. Running SMP and GPU2 on the main computer for now, going to try it tomorrow on the laptop...
Isn't all Crucial ram D9's though? I think I remember reading Crucial=Micron so almost all Crucial are D9's, the problem is there are different models like D9GKX, D9GMH and D9GQT. The value ram is probably some of the lower binned chips and won't net you a whole lot of overclocking even with...
I hate to be the voice of dissent, specially to people more knowledgeable than me but... If you have the money I personally would spring for something a bit higher than a GTX 260. I have a very similar setup (not i7 of course but that wont make a huge difference in games specially at 1680x1050)...
Because eVGA was giving 8800GT's and in some cases 9800GT's as replacements for the EXTREMELY faulty 7900 series while XFX was giving back 8600GTS until a few months ago. THAT is the kind of customer support I want, not the "we give you back whatever we want like it or not" line XFX gave to its...
Might need some more tweaking but here's a quick build:
C2D 8400 In combo with..
Asus P5Q Pro
Gskill 4GB
Open Box Sapphire 4850
Acer 22inch LCD monitor
Cooler Master Elite Case
Corsair 550W PSU
WD 500Gb
Pioneer 20x DVD Burner
Microsoft Natural Keyboard 2000
Total comes to $859...
I got an 8800GS 384MB from XFX... and I was lucky! People were still getting 8600's for those... Oops I guess that's why there's an Evga in my computer now :)
Let us know how it goes, I have a very similar setup... I managed to hit 3.6ghz with everything on stock last night, but then again I could probably cook a steak on my NB, curse you Gigabyte!
Oh yeah, I know that screen.. I had an XFX 7900GT and it too made that screen when I tried anything 3D, heck at the very end it also distorted anything 2D even the BIOS! Make preparations, that puppy is going to videocard heaven.
I'm a man of my word so.. pictures!
This was my first time trying this "cable management" thing I hear so much about... so it was my first try.
Actual Parts:
Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 E0 stepping (sorry, brain fart)
Xigmatek HDT-S1283
Gigabyte EP45-DS3L
Evga Geforce GTX 260...
You have a point there. But didn't the guy that bought an i7 965 Extreme buy it for $1050? with msrp of that cpu at $999? not that much of a jump.
I guess my point if any is that Intel could have charged a lot more for the 920 :P
I mean the 920 at $280 isn't exactly priced as an enthusiast CPU, specially when the motherboard is more expensive than the CPU. Heck, it's $50 less than a Q9550.
