That could be and there's consistent data showing that 8x8 slots are slower than 16x16 in CF.

Which MOBO has PCIe 1.1 8x8? I'll try to get it and run the test.

Here's the same setup but with Foxconn P35A which had PCIe 1.1 16x and 4x slots. You can see the difference. :) Having two PCIe 2.0 16x is much better don't you think? :)

Yes that's true. I'm crossfiring two 3870's on Foxconn P35A and it's faster but not what it could. I'm looking to move up with two PCIe 16x slots MOBO. That 4x ain't gonna do the job.

Crossfire 4850's and they're smoking!!! They're running very close to CF 4870's. Compare between $300 and $600 for 2 cards here with closely performance. Something wrong with 4870's?

Or maybe not since I can get 2x 3870's for less $200 and 4870 is like $300. So price/performance ratio for crossfire 3870's is much cheaper than one 4870. Am I wrong on this?

I'm in position to get two used 3870's for crossfire for about $180. Close to price of one new HD4850. Is this better than one HD4850? TIA.
