Crossfiring two 4850's on Asus Maximus Formula overclocked E8400 4GHz.
Gotta love two PCIe 2.0 16x slots. Full speed ahead!

whats your score with the cpu at stock? Also, what are your 4950's clocked at?

An E8400 is a 3.0 ghz, 1333, 6 Mb C2D.

But the OP implies a bottleneck @ 8 x 8 x yet offers no comparison!

Gah, are you just here to torment me!?

Here's the same setup but with Foxconn P35A which had PCIe 1.1 16x and 4x slots.
You can see the difference. :) Having two PCIe 2.0 16x is much better don't you think? :)

Bit of a difference between PC1 x 16 and x 4 vs PCI 2 x 8 x 8 i would think.

That's what i'd like to see.

;)

x38/48 is 16/16 pci-e2.0
p45 is 8/8 pci-e2.0
p35 is 16/4 pci-e1.1

I dont think there are any pci-e 1.1 boards that run 8x/8x crossfire. I know the 650i boards run 8x/8x SLI.

975x runs 8x/8x crossfire. There's some 5000x boards that have 16x/8x as well.

Here was my score on a abit ip35 pro 16x/4x with two 4850s, 3.6OC on my Q6600.

Anyone got 3DMark06 benchmark for P45 CF 4850's?
Post it here if you have it. Thx.

There is a review site that ran a comparison on p45 vs. x38/x48. I think it was tweaktown or guru3d. Anyway... look it up. They showed a bottleneck on dual 8x and highly recommended the x38/48 boards.

I got a 19k 3dmark06 score with CF 4850's on P45, so I don't think the x16/x16 is helping you that much, Me_XMan :) I'm at work right now though so can't validate my claim with pics.

YES!

That's what i was getting at.

x8 x8 PCI 2.0!

Let's sort this bottleneck murmur out once and for all.

And i'm shocked, there are indeed PCI 1.1 x 8 x 8 boards, but only one: The Asus ROG Blitz Formula.

*strokes it lovingly*

Anyhow the Blitz post here is off topic!

We all want to know how the P45 chipset fares with dual 48XX cards in CF!

Don't we?

Wow, just read though the rest of this thread and saw trypt's screenie.

P45 fokn pwnz!

Well it's trumped by an impotent flaccid bee's dick by 16 x 16 x.

Awesome.

There's a lot of 'Oh Noez! 4850 bottlenecked on 8x PCI 2.0' in the ATI Flavour forum within the Video Card forum. You guys should sort them out.

:)
