Hi,
Currently I have Mtron Mobi 32GB SSD (yes I know old), Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 500GB 32MB cache and Seagate Barracuda ES 500GB 16GB cache.
I would like to know if getting a VelociRaptor 150GB would be better than the above mentioned drives for a ERP software database based on Microsoft...
How long are your RJ-45 cables? Where are they going through, any electrical interference close to the cables? Are you using cat5 or cat5e cables?
I personally thing you have some interference and should get STP cat5e cables instead of UTP cables.
I have Panasonic 37" TC37LZ85 which I bought here in US. I will be moving to Europe for a job and I'd like to take my TV with me.
I know that North America has NTSC standard and Europe has PAL standard, but can my TV support both standards?
Thank you for your help.
I'm selling Acer 24" Monitor (AL2423W) because I bought a Panasonic 37" TV which I'll be using as my monitor. Asking price is $200 Canadian Dollars. I am located in Toronto, Canada. My cell is (416) 821-9035.
Thank you guys for tips, I changed HD size to 2 instead of 1 and it'd didn't crop anymore at 1920x1080. It looks amazing when I sit close but if I sit about 8 feet away it strains my eyes when I read text. What can I do in windows to help besides putting text at 120DPI?
Hi,
I recently bought a Panasonic TC-37LZ85 after reading great review from people using it as a PC monitor. My problem is that when I put the display on 1920x1080 bottom of Vista Start Menu is missing and text is too small to read by sitting 2 meters away from it. How can I fix it. The only...
Yes you did it right, and if you decrease the size of C drive from 100GB down to 50GB you will get an even better performance. Just make sure to not use C drive at teh same time as H drive or else you'll loose the benefits of short-stroking. So use your H drive only for storage and when you are...
Here are Atto-256 bench results: (Done in Vista 64bit with NOD32, O&O Defrag, Norton Ghost, Comodo Firewall running in background)
Megalomaniac, that's a really good deal where did you find it? I tried Ebay but it was more expensive than buying it from a US distributor :S
Well finally I took a deep pocket plundge and bought and SSD.
The test was done on ICH9 so it is a bit slower but with a hardware raid card it should give you a perfectly straight line with perfect 80MB/sec. The Vista boot is not 10sec like they said but it is twice as fast. Mine loads...
It all depends what you mean fastest. Seek time or transfer rate write/read? For example in most DB work you want access time in video work you want write performance.
I heard very good things about Hitachi Deskstar 7k1000 1TB drive (1TB only not 750MB) especially if you short stroke it.
Well tomorrow I'm receiving my MTRON MOBI 32GB and I got 2 very important questions that don't seem to be addressed.
1. Does defragmenting improve performance at all on SSD? Could it damage the SSD i.e. wear the SLC out quicker?
2. Does short stroking improve the performance at all in...
I'd be careful!!! The older Macbook Pro also comes with 2.4GHz and you can't really tell if its 65nm or 45nm Penryn CPU unless you install a hardware monitoring software on it to check. The difference to some is huge, since Penryn uses less power = longer battery life, less heat = more sperm :)...
Don't forget even though some games are "optimized" for 4 cores in truth they are not properly optimized, sort of like when 64bit OS came out and peeple only used 64bit compiler instead of making the optimizing the code for 64bit to make a program 64bit. That is why Intel announced yesterday...
All I care is for it to be silent or dead silent. I'll have a look tomorrow at a 9600 in a local store, I'm gonna ask them if possible to hook it up for me to hear it's noise - I am very picky when it comes to noise. I only have one fan in my case and its form a ultra quite PSU :)
For gaming purposes hard drives are the biggest bottleneck in todays computing, after that its the graphic cards than cpus. At this stage I don't think there is a single game out that will cause a bottlneck in your Q6600 :) If you got money get a server board load it up with 32GB RAM create a...
Thank you for a quick reply, I was afraid of hearing somehting like that; but since I have no choice what graphic card would you recommend that can be passively cooled since I would like to keep my pc silent and its a small factor pc case?
Hi,
I'm have very low frame rate in WoW 9-23 FPS. My computer specs are:
E8400
4GB Corasair XMS2 (2x2GB)
Asus P5E-VM HDMI
Raptor + 7200.11
I just don't get it even a 5 year old computer can run WoW so why is my computer having such a low frame rate. BTW my latency is 80 - 110ms so...
Its good if you don't have the time, patience or money to maintain a raid since it does pretty much everything by itself (hot swapping, error checking, recovery, etc...) However I didn't like it since it is only USB (30MB/sec MAX) or RJ45 (5MB/sec MAX) if you get the ethernet adapter for it, so...
Also put OS on one partition Programs on the other and Pics, Movies, Music on the 3rd partition. Partitioning won't improve performance unless your short stroking, however it will make it easier to manage, organize, backup and defrag your drive.
Hi,
I was using Ubiquiti SuperRange Cardbus wifi card for my laptop.
However I sold my laptop, and am left with SFF computer so I need a good pcie card for it, since its not mobile like a laptop. So I'm looking for long range, compatibility with both Linux and Windows and also with...
Hi,
Which one should I get for performance and stability: (Also please recommend the 2nd best just in case they don't have the first in stock)
1. Corsair XMS2 Dominator 4GB (2x2GB) PC8500 DDR2-1066 CL 5-5-5-15 $179
2. Patriot Viper Series 4GB (2x2GB) PC8500 DDR2-1066 CL 5-5-5-15 $160...
Don't forget its USED! So the deal you got is very bad. The new macbooks with better, faster (2.4GHz compared to 2.2GHz also 45nm is faster by up to 10% from 65nm), and cooler processors are out and can be bought for $100-200 more BRAND NEW. The seller got a GOOD DEAL :)
When you buy something...
I looked at the Zalman but I want to make my SFF dead silent or as close to it as possible. Would drilling in more holes on the case save me from having to put PSU with a fan?
As for modular PSU I'm planning on cutting the unneeded cables from Zen 400 (if I go the fanless PSU route) and...
Cov, I already have the Zen 400w... You're right about ninja mini it can't fit so I returned it and ordered online the NT-06 which is meant for SG01 case the only worry I have is if the NT-06 passively cooling the CPU is going to be a good idea with fanless FSP Zen 400, but in case it does get...
Having all of those things in a Raid 0 will in fact slow down your machine because the disk's heads will run all over the place trying to access your OS data while writing to swap and accessing Virtual Machines at the same time on the same disks. DO NOT USE RAID 0. You want to make sure to...
1. Get a credit card from your parents and give them cash upfront.
2. Go to direct2drive.com buy a game and download immediately (Transfer speeds of up to 980KB/sec). DONE :)
Is this memory compatible with Asus P5E-VM HDMI? If not which kind of DDR2 is compatible PC6400,PC8000, etc...?

Hi,
I just bought a small factor pc case and my PSU isn't modular so the cables are taking too much space.
I was thinking of cutting the cables which I won't be using, how safe is this and is there a guide somewhere on how to ground the cut cables to prevent electric shock?
