cheers, dduckman. i just got repeating c1 post's this morning on 2v. on 2.2v i'd just get one c1 which would miraculously disappear once i switched it off and back on at the mains. tried each stick individually one was fine the other wouldn't work at all.
so i went to aria this afternoon and...
i've just started to get intermittent c1 post errors on my ip35 pro. the first was last friday, the second today. the general consensus is that this is a ram problem. i have the dual channel 2 x 1gb bl12864aa804.16fd3 ballistix.
i've had them running at spec timings and volts for around a...
1) you're probably right, i thought the same. but it's for the missus' mum. she's been very good to us, so i want to do the best possible for her. it just seemed a bit sluggish for what i was expecting.
2) realistically, it will never be under that sort of load. i'm sure a third party cooler...
a few pics to start...

i'll get one or two pics hosted tomorrow ... basic installation, hardly rocket surgery, tho :D
finished the build yesterday, booted into the bios. not put an os on yet. all looks ok apart from the fact the cpu is idling at 52C, wtf? it's not exactly toasty here in manchester. my q6600 idles...
i like the solid nature of the boards they are producing. i would've got the asus if i was going full atx. i did have visions of her with a coolermaster stacker case in her living room, but alas, that was beyond the budget ...
does anyone want to see pics of the installation :D
bought the parts today...
beat the budget and went micro atx

i'm seriously busy atm and you've saved me a few hours of research. i shall purchase the parts and build it for her next week.
e7300 is a good price atm at my local supplier, microdirect - £85. cheaper than e7200
is there any major difference between the p5kpl and p5kpl-am ...
cheers, zero.
the e7300 is probably nearer what she needs. it's not like she's going to start video editing or ripping dvd's. i still have to go round every month or so to back up her documents for her. i've showed her a dozen times but she's got the technofear :D
looking to build a desktop pc for about £300 for the mother-in-law :D
i've not been in the loop since i built the rig in my sig last year. and don't usually build budget jobbies.
there's always a sweet performance/price point that i'm sure the enthusiasts on here can help me find.
no...
really that important?
need to replace a saitek ecplipse (suprise) and a dodgy old logitech optical.
is it worth splashing out more on a new kb and mouse. my experience with the eclipse tells me not. 6 months til fubar. trying to locate the receipt.
so my question is this...should i...

i use prime95 small ffts for stress testing and the latest coretemp.
i also have everest and notice the temps reported are the same as coretemp.
your temps look good, just image what you'd get with a nice aftermarket cooler.
good luck.
8800gt should be able to handle it no probs. even with an older processor.
maybe you need a clean install of drivers for the card. if you don't do it right it can cripple your system.
qft. as others have mentioned - if you're looking for increased performance in games that 8800gt will piss all over your existing card. the processor upgrade will make little difference
G0 @ 3Ghz - core average 28C- ambient 20C - thermalright ultra extreme goodness. load - small ffts for 8 hours 50C.
my vid is 1.325 so i wasn't too hopeful of a great overclock. but this baby is running pretty cool on air in my akasa eclipse 62 case with only 2x120mm fans (plus the one on the...
i'm still using xp atm.
thinking of switching to vista (might get the missus to buy it me for xmas) but seems little incentive with the performance hit.
i'm sure i saw a screenshot of a disk analysis piece of software on this forum but can't find it anymore.
thanks for the reply anyhoo.
what's the best way to monitor this?
i know you can use various read write performance counters in mmc.
which counters should i be looking to log. or is there a nice easy gui based bit of software i can use instead.
i'm trying to determine the level at which my quad is beind throttled...
G0 has a lower power consumption than B3 (tdp 95w v 105 w) resulting in lower temperatures and potentially a better overclock.
it's also rated safer to run at higher temperatures (thermal spec 73.2 °C v 62.2 °C)
the difference isn't earth shattering but it is significant.
i think it's snide of newegg not to say which revision you'll get.
here in the uk most retailers sell both. there was no distinction with which you would get for the first couple of weeks after G0 came out. now you can order either. G0 costs about £2 more tho :D.
