Don't forget if you go with Dual 4850x2's you are going to need a major PSU and you are going to raise the heat in our case since they exhaust into your case.
Not hating on the 4850x2 just something to think about.
I have the P6T and I LOVE IT. However if you aren't going to be overclocking there really isn't any reason to spend the extra money. The MSI is a good board so unless you have a preference to Asus I would save the cash.
I'm sure tons of people will argue over this but if you are not playing...
You only care about the core temps. (Basically) It is normal for the cores to have different temps because they are going to utilized at different loads.
IMO if you are staying under 75c at full load you are fine.
On a side note speedfan does strange things, I had a P5DH Deluxe and at...
I would guess you are going to have a hard time finding anyone that has tried overvolting past 1.66v. Intel has been very adamant that if you pass this threshold you will damage your chipset. (Which may or may not happen) But with the limited benefit to push the limit I'll be surprised if you...
I have the Scythe on my i920 and the temps are great. I lapped the CPU and so far my OC temps have been great. Still doing some testing because every freaking program is a different temp. But worst case at 1.4 volts I hit 81c running core damage so I'd say the Scythe is working very well...
I know this is a dumb question but you do have both the power plugs plugged in to the motherboard right. I'm talking about the extra 12v plug that plugs in
I guess if you are using liquid cooling then you have room. I have the P6T Deluxe and didn't realize they changed the config of the P6T motherboard.
Good luck with it let us know what kind of overclock you get out of it.
It takes a pretty good amount of pressure to lock the chip down.
Here is step by step that might help.

You can also try just booting the system with 1 stick of RAM I doubt this the issue but the fewer parts you have installed the less that can be wrong. Also unplug the SATA and PATA stuff and try to get a boot.
I would even say having the cores at different temps is more normal than having them the same. I've seen several posts where the temp was 5-7 degrees off.
What are the temps you are getting at idle and at load if you are in the normal range then the problem is most likely not the heatsink...
IMO the best choice is the 120mm fan you are getting much much better airflow and only slightly more noise.
Look at Yate Loon fans they are dirt cheap and provide good flow.
That actually sounds pretty normal to me you can run CPU-Z or Core Temp and see what kind of voltage it shows.
I wouldn't be to worried though those numbers seem normal.
That sux man I'm sure you have already tried this but just in case.
How much did you raise your northbridge voltage that was causeing me problems at first. Once I raised it I was able to get alot more FSB speed.
Hmm this appears to a problem I thought the new version of speedfan fixed the 85 100 issue.
I just installed core temp and it shows my idle temps at 15 degrees higher. Well guess I need to do some more checking I suppose my temps staying under 55C is ok but not great.
I was using Speedfan...
I have a Q6600 and I OC'd to FSB 333 and I just ran Orthos for 10+ hours and my core temps all stayed under 40c. I ran stock voltage to reach the overclock so I'm sure thats why my temps are so good.
That being said I don't get why everybody is hating on B3 stepping can G0 really be that...
Not so sure I'd say hands down there are some reviews that Enzotech wins, especialy if you take noise in to play. On low fan speeds it is almosyt always on top.

Getting two GTS and putting them in SLi is horriable advice just buy a gtx. Uses less power, makes less heat and uses less cash. There are very few times that 2 8800gts make more since than a 8800gtx
Umm those really aren't that impressive. I'm running at 3.42 and I only hit low 50's. I mean yeah they are great compared to stock but 48c on that cooler at stock speeds seems high.
Don't for get to look Enzotech Ultra X, on low speeds this fan cools as good as any and better than most. I have one and run the fan at 1350rpms and get very good results.
Can you give a little more detail about how much room you have. Maybe a screen shot or atleast which case you have. I could be wrong but I don't think there is a standard so it would be nice to know what you are working with.
I had an issue with almost the same thing and I never did figure out if the NB sensor was being read or not. I would get a normal reading until I adjusted the fan speed and then as soon as I clicked the arrow the change speed it would shoot to the 120's.
So I'm kinda wondering if it a...
There is always the chance that you could have had static charge built up enough in you that if you touched the board it could have shorted something.
Granted thats rare but is has happened.
You have to go to the Advanced tab and then look under JumperFree Configuration.
It is set on auto by defult and needs to be changed to manual. Once you change it that will will open up the other options to adjust FSB, voltages, and memory speeds.
also the current situation is that the rear top(vertical one) sucks air in to the case and the top horizontal one blows out. i need to put another 120mm in the middle front to blow some air to my 8800gts
any suggestions?
thanks
Here is a link to a thread about P180 fans...
Just a disclaimer before we start I've not taken the heat sink off of a striker but I have done several other Asus boards, so I cant promise this is how your is set up.
There should be only plastic clips holding you heatsink to the regulators and either plastic or metal clips to the chipset...
You can't go wrong with either of those boards. If I were you I'd look at all the extra's that come with the P5W DH and if they sound like thing you would use then I'd go for it. I have the P5W and I really like the extras that are with it. If you don't think they will be useful for you then get...
I have a 8800 GTS and I am running on a 22" and I love it. Could you get by with a lower card prolly, but new games are going to come out and you will need the higher end card.
I know you said the eye candy doesn't really matter to you but I'm guessing you haven't the game with everything at...
IMO If you aren't OC then watercooling is a waste unless you just want the novelty of it.
Noise isn't really an issue, at stock speeds you can get fans that are near silent.
Save the cash and use it for more ram or a better video card.
just my 2centd
I have that board and I love it. The EZ raid was the most simple raid setup ever.
I'm not sure what you think is terrible but if you are using 2 drives and going for raid 1 then it doesn't get any easier. You don't even have to install drivers for your OS.
Check in your bios and make sure you have enabled the USB ports.
Also you could look in your hardware manager and see if you have anything showing with the yellow marks.
