I have a Q6600 and I OC'd to FSB 333 and I just ran Orthos for 10+ hours and my core temps all stayed under 40c. I ran stock voltage to reach the overclock so I'm sure thats why my temps are so good.

That being said I don't get why everybody is hating on B3 stepping can G0 really be that much better. I was able to reach 3.2ghz at 1.4 volts and only had slightly higher temps.

I'm just trying to figure out if G0 really is worth all the hype.

What is your stock vcore? My B3 can't do prime95 stable with 1.2625V (my VID is 1.2875V). Are you setting your vcore manually? If not, what is it as-per CPU-Z?

What are you using to measure temps?

Are you still using that cooler in your sig? If so, try using core temp and make sure the temperatures match (just to be sure you are getting accurate readings).

If you look around the forums you will see them littered with results on speedfan with results 15 degrees lower than the true temperature because it assume an incorrect value of 85 instead of 100.

My G0 does 3.4 @ 1.35v and is only limited to that because I don't want to run continuously at over 60 degrees. I'm using a Scythe Ninja, so cooling is pretty good.

My B3 at 3.3 will show idle temps under 40c, at idle, on a cold day… on a normal day with low 70’s(F) ambient temperature I’m seeing idle temperatures of about 45-48c and load temperatures of about 65-70c. I’m using the auto voltage option on my Gigabyte P35-DS3R, CPU-Z showing 1.376 at idle and 1.328 under load. I took this CPU up to the mid 80’s(C) using sub-standard coolers (stock, then a mini-typhoon which was only slightly better) on a fairly regular basis for a few weeks before I got the tuniq-tower and it was still able to handle the speeds even at those temps. All temperatures were measured using coretemp using 100c TjMax.

Differences between B3 and G0 are hardly night and day; the G0 is on average slightly better, but it's not that B3s are melting at speeds that G0s handle with ease.

When I set my FSb to 333=3.0 I leave the voltage to auto speed fan and cpu-z show 1.16-1.20

If I go for 3.2 the I set the voltage to 1.4

Hmm this appears to a problem I thought the new version of speedfan fixed the 85 100 issue.
I just installed core temp and it shows my idle temps at 15 degrees higher. Well guess I need to do some more checking I suppose my temps staying under 55C is ok but not great.

I was using Speedfan 4.33
Coretemp 0.97.1

Using Coretemp this is what I get:

Core0: 50c
Core1: 50c
Core2: 43c
Core3: 48c

I think I have a sucky B3 personally...I can't get anything over 3.2Ghz without a lot of voltage. I need about 1.4V or so to hit 3.0Ghz.

That sux man I'm sure you have already tried this but just in case.
How much did you raise your northbridge voltage that was causeing me problems at first. Once I raised it I was able to get alot more FSB speed.

I'm not sure exactly what I had my NB voltage at, but I tried the same CPU in two different boards (G33 and X38 chipsets) and had the exact same results, so I figured it was just the CPU.

Don't get me wrong, 3.0Ghz was pretty much plenty for what I needed it to do, but I was kind of disappointed seeing as others were getting 3.6Ghz or more with their G0's.
