    Gateway FPD2485W - 24" HD LCD

Actually, I should've rephrased the question; I meant does 1080i look that much better than 1080p? Of course, I'd rather use 1080 anything than 720p ;)

    Gateway FPD2485W - 24" HD LCD

I realize the 1080p ability of these monitors is a large factor in deciding to buy one... but does it matter that much when the screen size only 24"? I can imagine it would make a big difference on the 37" Westy or larger... anyone have observations?

Yeah, I think I'll refuse the delivery on this and get my money back... Hopefully they come up with an update for the BenQ for 1:1 soon.

    Gateway FPD2485W - 24" HD LCD

I called to cancel my order yesterday night and the CS rep said "alright, you're all set.", but this morning I woke up to find a delivery confirmation e-mail from Gateway. "all set" indeed. Anyway, since I'm planning to use this for heavy HDTV/movie use, I have a couple of days to try it out...

    Gateway FPD2485W - 24" HD LCD

Crap. Even if I don't have problems at first, all these issues might pop-up in the long run... but I can't afford a Westy at this point :( I'll post my opinions after mine comes (who knows when that will be).

    Gateway FPD2485W - 24" HD LCD

Are all the color issues with the monitor visible on xbox 360? it seems like the people who've used it for that on this thread haven't really complained about it. ...unless I forgot, heh. I'm waiting for my monitor to get shipped... I think a lot of people ordered on the free shipping day...

    Gateway FPD2485W - 24" HD LCD

Alright, after seeing the free shipping today I finally pulled the trigger. Hopefully I don't have all the problems you guys have mentioned, but FedEx Kinko's is close enough that I can return this easily (I hope).

    Gateway FPD2485W - 24" HD LCD

Last time that I'll ask before I give up, but has anyone tried watching HDTV through a cable box on this monitor? :p

    Gateway FPD2485W - 24" HD LCD

I initially wanted to give up on this monitor, but it seems that 360 and TV/movies seem to work fine. I'm probably one of many who are flip-flopping on a decision between this and other monitors  Now if BB only had some stock so I could try it out...

    Gateway FPD2485W - 24" HD LCD

I think I'm about to give up on this monitor... seems like there are too many issues (although in the case of the 360 it could be the hardware not the monitor). :( I'm about to just settle for a similar-sized LCD TV instead...

    Gateway FPD2485W - 24" HD LCD

does any of this blurring/flickering/etc show up when watching HDTV off a cable box?

    Gateway FPD2485W - 24" HD LCD

I didn't think Vaan was that rail-thin, haha... but I'm just saying what I noticed. I think because the monitor is 16:10, it'll be difficult to get the correct picture on the widescreen mode with ps2 games. Ideally what you'd want is for the monitor to scale to 16:9, but there probably isn't a...

    Gateway FPD2485W - 24" HD LCD

I've been playing FF XII as well, and I noticed that 16:9 setting too. When I tried it on my regular CRT TV, it sort of just squished the picture; I'm not sure if outputs in a "true" 16:9 fashion. You have to assume that your display will stretch out the picture, which will look normal if it...

crap, so it's not just the 360 :(

    Gateway FPD2485W - 24" HD LCD

That's understandable; I haven't heard of any methods to lessen strain on the eyes from an LCD though, perhaps a polarizing filter of some sort?

    Gateway FPD2485W - 24" HD LCD

Agreed, the buzzing would be annoying, but don't DVI and HDMI carry the same video? I guess if you don't want to buy a DVI to HDMI converter it's convenient..

    Gateway FPD2485W - 24" HD LCD

It's an LCD... the pixels are either on or off until they're told to change color. The more important factor is response time; wanting to run it at a higher refresh rate makes no sense.

    Gateway FPD2485W - 24" HD LCD

Does the monitor auto-detect the resolution of the signal, or do you have to set the display settings every time it switches? For example, if I were watching HDTV and flipped from a 720p channel to a 1080i channel...

    Gateway FPD2485W - 24" HD LCD

nice setup, what's Transformers playing off of? and is it stretched to 16:10? i don't see any black bars...

    Gateway FPD2485W - 24" HD LCD

I'm thinking about getting this monitor pretty soon, but has anyone tried watching HDTV on it? I'll probably be using it more for TV/console gaming than attached to my computer (don't have a desktop right now, only a laptop).
