Ive got an e6300 with an hd2400 (spare parts) in an antec fusion. The cpu has a passive scythe mini ninja. I have 4 gigs of ram on Windows 7 64. It primarily streams via xbmc from another pc using home share. Gaming isnt a big priority.
It's occasionally struggling with hd content. It lools...
That seems like a decent idea. It looks like you can flash the firmware on it to just run XBMC/linux instead of XBMC on top of Android to give better performance if Android apps aren't desirable.
The main negative I saw was spotty wifi performance but it looks like there's a DIY fix for...
I have a primary HTPC in the living room that I have XBMC loaded on top of Windows 7 which I control with an iPad. This HTPC has a wired connection to another Win7 box upstairs loaded with movies/tv.
I bought a Sony wifi enabled bluray player for the bedroom but I find using serviio hit or...
I sold home theatre stuff for a few years and I'd always hear about burn-in and "I heard the plasma gas leaks out after a couple years" from people.
My father-in-law was buying a TV and he flat out wouldn't listen to my recommendations based on hearing nonsense about plasma having poor...
Almost none of the "amateur" stuff is really amateur. I'm gonna guess that 99% of the people in this thread are consumers and don't know the biz end.
The tube sites are making a big dent in the industry. They upload other people's movies. Movies which real producers paid real actors, etc to...
I only got the original order confirmation e-mail and have not yet received an e-mail about shipping but when I clicked order status from the 1st e-mail it does now say shipped. It also now gives estimated delivery date as tomorrow (originally said 1/17/11.)
My single U2311h was getting...

Dr. Joseph Dolan: So where do you know Alan from?
Fletch: We play tennis at the club.
Dr. Joseph Dolan: Really? California Racquet Club?
Fletch: Right.
Dr. Joseph Dolan: That's my club too. I don't remember seeing you there.
Fletch: Well, I haven't been playing in a while because of...
I switched to the Harmony One and like it better. It was a warranty swap so I had to do another Harmony of some sort..
The bad part being this will be my 3rd Harmony in 3 years due to power or button failure () but it even works pretty well with my PS3 via the adapter.
I almost did. Bought a toshiba HD-DVD because I needed a new DVD player and it upscaled well anyway. I thought both formats might stick around so I re-sold my Toshiba for what I'd paid and built an HTPC with the combo LG drive. Then HD-DVD tanked.
I liked HD-DVD because a lot of them also...
More competition is always helpful.
I think a lot of people go for the lifetime warranty on some cards but I'd be happy with a solid 3 year if I know the customer support is good. And I've never used step-up even on the couple cards I had it.
I just upgraded from TN to IPS and the viewing angles are obviously better but it wasn't the night and day difference I was expecting. I plan on doing portrait mode so I'll keep buying more IPS monitors but otherwise I'd just save money and get a TN.
Ended up ordering the G73 w/o the blu-ray. From Xoticpc vs Gentechpc simply because they had it in stock and offered free ground shipping. Both had good reviews.
We looked at the Best Buy version and the guy is pretty rough on his stuff so would probably have to buy the accidental damage warranty since it doesn't come with the free one through Asus and then you're back up to the cost of the regular version. Otherwise I would have told her to save the...
Friend of mine's girlfriend is buying him a gaming laptop to replace his dying desktop. As far as I know size isn't an issue since he is currently lugging his desktop between destinations. It's a surprise gift so we can't just ask him what he wants.
From what I've been reading the G73 seems...
I just received one of these on Saturday. I was happy with my old TN Samsung but plan to do portrait Eyefinity eventually.
Overall I like the monitor. Coming from a 22" 1680x1050 I don't really feel like I lost any screen real estate but the thing does feel crazy wide, if that makes sense...
