I, personally, wouldn't do this unless you can feel that the air in the top of your case is noticeably warmer than the air at the bottom (by opening it up and sticking your hand in there or maybe just feeling the metal).
It looks like you did a wonderful job with this one, though. Very clean...
okay so I'm making really slow progress here, but this is what i've done.
(note: it doesn't look nearly this glittery in real life, I have no idea what's going on here)
-painted rest of front
-installed lexan window / dust magnet
Any other input is still welcome from anyone who cares...
Sounds neat, but I hope you realize that even if I was about to run out and do those things, I would give credit. I'm also pretty sure that the normal CD drives will be able to still hold discs when at those positions, there's a little lip around where the disc goes for that reason, or you could...
So did you just come to taunt me?
Also, I'm pretty sure that I can't stealth the drives on this case, it has some wacky rail system. I guess I could find a way to rig it, though.
Bumping because I have a question: I tried installing the lexan but when I wipe off the dust from it it keeps getting a static charge and gathering more dust. It's not even all that arid right now (it just rained last night) but it's driving me nuts. How can I prevent this?
If you are talking about the drives, I already said that was on tap.
Top window might be a neat thing to do. As far as cable management goes, that is the best I can do without tape given the lengths of the cords. By paint chassis black do you mean the inside? If so, I already did that.
I'm actually cutting things and whatnot this time, and I am looking for ideas of stuff to do with the case that might make it interesting or unique. I like the colors I have chosen (black / bronze). Sorry about the blurriness.
Here's what I am already going to do:
-Paint the rest of...
Okay, here are some more temps. The one on the left is with the fan at normal speed, the one on the right is the fan at the low RPM I usually use.
Idle:
Load:
After Video Load:
So I guess it kinda looks like the AUX is my CPU temperature, buuut then I'm confused about the top...
So I usually know what is going on, but these temps confuse me:
The top three temperatures seem strange. How can my CPU be that much lower? What is AUX? Is Motherboard a sensor in the northbridge or is it ambient temperature? Thanks for the help, I am feeling retarded right now.
I have been having some stability problems with my computer, so in the process of investigating it, I noticed something. All the heatsinks I have right now are cool to the touch except for the northbridge, which is extremely hot. For reference, here is my system...
It's actually a Compucase LX-6A19 from Directron, but I believe the internals are identical to the Antec. Great case from the money, although I had a horrible experience getting it from directron. Sheesh those guys were inept.
It runs Oblivion at the highest settings (1280x1024) well enough for me to play it, plays CS:Source at highest with 4x AA and 4x AF well. It gets around 2300 in 3dMark 06, 9400 in 03. Supposedly its around the performance of a 660GT if not slightly better...
Here's mine. The video card is also fanless, a 7600GS. This is dead silent, the heatsink is an Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro, running at 40% speed (inaudible yet effective), and all fans in case are 120mm fans running at 5V.
For some reason I couldn't take non-blurry photos. Now I just need...
I have the same heatsink, the Freezer 64 Pro.. use a program like speedfan to slow it down. Even when the fan is really low, it still cools really well, so you should be able to turn the noise all the way off when at 40% speed. My 3000+ has a load temperature of around 40 degrees when still...
Well what I already got was a small rectangle about 11x14 from Home Depot. Forget how much it was, though. I should probably see if I can get some scrap plexi.
I'm thinking I will use the string method to draw the circle then just go at it with the dremel. I'm pretty good at staynig in the lines, and I will keep it on low speed as to avoid meltage.
That's a really good point on renting a drill. Still, I would have to buy a hole saw which would cost about twice as much if not more than buying a circle cutter. Would a circle cutter not do the job? Sorry for being so confused, I am working on my first mod.
I need to make a fan hole / mount in lexan for the window and the only real tool I have on hand is a dremel. I don't have a power drill, so buying a hole saw wouldn't work. Should I try to get a circle cutter at Home Depot, or would that not cut deep enough to make the hole? Is it unfeasible to...
