Quick follow up, leaning back towards just keeping the LG for now. In brighter scenes HDR look great but even with local dimming the contrast is a bummer in darker scenes. As well I found myself finding the color saturation too much even after calibration, so I ended up using the sRGB mode more...
Yeah, the Acer can actually hit around 700 nits and has local dimming. I've been using the HDR and it actually looks decent, and is totally worth using. Check this review out: https://pcmonitors.info/reviews/acer-xb323u-gp/ for more tech info.
Yeah the Acer model I am testing is "officially" rated: G-Sync compatible and so far G-Sync has worked 100%. And yes, need 1440 not 4k because I enjoy and want maximum in-game fidelity (highest settings) and fps over 90fps, hopefully more in the 120 and up zone. Right now even with my 3080 card...
Unfortunately no G-sync and 4k. I even have a 3080 card and 1440p gets me max in-game fidelity I want and fps in the 90-110 zone. With 4k I'd be lucky at 60 with max settings. I really wish they'd just make an LG 32GK850G and add HDR 600 to it. Instant buy.
I'm still testing the Acer XB323U GP...
I've had a LG 32GK850G for some time and I've really enjoyed it but I am missing HDR support. So, I'm looking for:
1440p
144Hz
32" (31.5")
Flat
HDR (600)
DP 1.4
G-sync compatible
VA panel
Since that doesn't exist and doesn't look to any time soon which is a bummer, I'd by an HDR version of the...
Just a quick follow up, I've had the LG 32GK850G for over a month now and I'm super happy with it! :)
I mounted it on my desk using the AmazonBasics Premium Single Monitor Stand and it's positioned perfectly for me.
I've been nothing but impressed with the image and performance and feeling...
This is an older thread but I did the same back and forth and found the LG to be noticeably superior to the Acer. Much better colors, less motion camera panning blur, way better screen uniformity and at least as good or not better contrast/black levels. So for me the LG was the clear winner, the...
What camera settings did you use? I think I noticed maybe a tiny bit more BLB in the bottom left corner on my 2nd monitor. The first one had dead pixels right in the middle of the screen so I swapped it out.
Thanks for the info, I saw that about Freesync with nvidia on select models. All good, but I think I will be keeping the LG, been messing with it over the weekend and I'm happy with it. :)
Thanks for the info, appreciated. Yeah, it's not too bad and I really think most of it is just that at the larger size it is more noticeable now, and it's not that bad. Otherwise playing the game on the new LG is tons of fun. I think this one is my new monitor. I know next year there will be...
I got the LG 32GK850G-B and there is a lot to like about it, especially compared to the Acer Z321QU. I will ask though is there anything that can be done about the blurring effect when panning the camera in games such as AC:Odyssey?
I calibrated the monitor according to TFT and I'm using their...
I got the 32GK850G and so far not bad, to me at least the colors, glow and contrast are all better than the Acer Z321QU for whatever the reasons. The motion blur panning the camera in games such as AC:Odyssey is better as well.
Compared to the Asus PG279Q, other than the size difference the...
Well I'm getting in the 80-120 fps zone for AAA games like AC:Odyssey and Battlefield V. So I assume I should just set the monitor to 144 and leave it?
Ordered the LG 32GK850G, gonna try it out as well. I really love the size of the Z321QU but I'm not convinced it's the best image/motion quality option. Especially after going back and forth with the Asus.
So we'll see by the weekend it'll be either the Acer, Asus or LG!
If I play BFV with everything on inc. RT I get over 60fps but I've seen the 50s at 1440. In Assassin Creed Odyssey I stay above 60 (usually in the 70s- low 90s), but not by much at full graphics. This is with a [email protected] and a XC Ultra 2080 ti. So at 4k I'd have to lower the graphics quality and...
I'm currently looking for a new monitor, how does this compare to the Acer Predator Z321QU 31.5-inch? I've got one at my house I'm testing out against the Asus PG279Q 27".
The negative things about the Acer VA are that the colors aren't quite as good as the IPS, and it has some subtle yellow...
Yeah I've got both the IPS and VA at the house now, keep swapping them out back and forth, 2 monitors enter 1 monitor stays!
The Asus IPS, now that I got one with the "normal" amount of IPS corner glow is totally fine and would be a good solid monitor at 27". The first one had a "broken" amount...
Anyone get a new monitor lately?
I am coming from this: Acer XB270H 27-inch
https://www.amazon.com/Acer-XB270H-Abprz-27-inch-Widescreen/dp/B00NUCRBCU/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_bdcrb_top?ie=UTF8
And, testing out: Acer Predator Z321QU 31.5-inch...
So still if you want Ultra (best) quality and a solid 60fps you still need to be using a 1080p monitor even with a 1080GTX. Interesting, 1440p is still too much for a single card if you want all the visual "bells and whistles", and want to always be above 60fps. Looks like I'll get the 1080 but...
I've got a 2600k on an Asus p8z68-v pro which has PCI Express 2.0, I'd love to splurge and get an EVGA Titan card. Will I be gimped not having PCI 3.0 with the Titan? Currently I'm using a 680. Thanks for the advice.
Thanks for the replies. For now I think I'm going to finish the Win 7 PLEX server build out and have it access files on my older WHS over my network, which is all wired cat5e with switches. Actually this could work pretty good for a while I think and should do pretty much everything I want.
As...
Hope this is the correct sub-forum, if not please move. :)
Ok, here is my deal. I currently use an HP MediaSmart Server that is getting way past it's prime and I'm looking for new options.
Main needs/wants:
1. Remote access of files
2. Remote access of media (music, videos, pictures) on...
I have used an Asus VE278Q 27" 1920x1080 for months now and love it, I sit back about 2' from the screen and it looks great to me and keeping 60fps with Vsync on is totally doable with a 680GTX. Dot pitch doesn't bother me at all and the size seems perfect. I'm totally happy with it. :)
I've had a VE278Q for several months used for gaming, general internet, media work, etc... It's been really nice to work with and I've had no complaints.
Mine has this but it is extremely faint and can only be heard when it turns on for a second or two then the level goes way down, the pitch changes as well. I have pretty good high frequency hearing so I can hear it but on my monitor it pretty much disappears after a second. If it stayed as loud...
Yeah the fisheye on 75 is not bothersome at all but everything feels a bit too close on such a big monitor, at 80 the view is right but I get a bit of the "world circling around me" fisheye effect. Maybe something in-between.
Sorry to bring this thread back up, but I just went from a 24" 16:10 at FOV 85 to a new 27" 16:9 monitor and I'm trying to find a new FOV that doesn't fisheye too bad but also isn't too close. I was wondering what people have settled on for 16:9? I'm trying 80 on the16:9 27" and it's almost...
