I don't think that's true... Especially of the 27" reaches 1920x1200 on the same cable, hooked up to the same laptop (and the same video card). And 1280x800 isn't half of 2560x1600; it's one quarter. I'll try the cable at lunch and see what happens.

Well I have a 2709 27" that gets 1920x1200 on it with the same cable, but the monitor's garbage (about 50ms input lag) and is going back to Dell for a refund. I'll try buying a Dual-Link HDMI-to-DVI cable and seeing if that gets me any higher...

Problem solved :) Switched from 120 DPI to 96 DPI. Got sick of it really quickly and Googled even harder. Maybe this thread'll help someone else in the future, though.

WUXGA screen. I'm guessing they think I'm blind, as they've hacked the default "Normal" font-size setting in the "Appearance" tab, so now "Normal" is "Large", "Large" is "Huge", and "Extra Large" is "Effing GINORMOUS". Any idea how I can reset these to the normal? Is there a file in /WINDOWS...

I've always heard the Quads were far worse in games. They focus on quality, not quantity. The GFs are the opposite. In any case, what's this Dell outlet you speak of? :P

My reason for wanting a Dell: The warranty. Apple likes to jerk people around from what I've seen, and the same appears to go for HP as well. Dell, on the other hand, seems not to ask questions. The precision would be nice, and I might consider it, but the M1730 looks like I get a more versatile...

Ah, I would really like to stay away from glossy... Are all WUXGAs glossy? Or ust the TrueLife? Reflections suck, and in my experience with glossies, the colours are brighter in the center of the screen and darker as they approach the edges. Moving your head around will move the "bright spot"...
