New Haswell build with an old PSU problem?

Yeah it is the STOP 0x0000007B error code (with a bunch of hex numbers instead of INACCESSABLE_BOOT_DEVICE). I was planning on re-installing windows anyway with all the new hardware. Attempted recovery tools to restore mbr\boot files but it believes my recovery tool is not compatible with...

New Haswell build with an old PSU problem?

Well well turns out ATX 12v cable was just slightly loose. Now I get a BSOD when windows boots (win7-x64 installed on previous hardware) so will continue to troubleshoot including checking BIOS settings for power.

New Haswell build with an old PSU problem?

I only get a very brief flash of what looks like a zero (on the right digit) with a missing half of the left verticle line. There is no digit or letter on the left side. Nothing like this is referenced in the manual.

New Haswell build with an old PSU problem?

I just assembled a new build but intended to use my old trusted PSU for the near future. Unfortunately when I power up my machine, the lights turn on and fans start to spin but then everything goes dark after a second and the cycle starts over and over. I know Haswell and old PSUs do not mix...

    i5 3570K OCed vs i7 3770

How would you rate the performance of an 3570K overclocked (nothing extreme, on air) vs i7 3770? I have a chance to buy either one at about the same price. How much does decent air cooling cost for the 3570k?

    Looking for help with Upgrade

Yeah I'd expect the price range to be similar to the current gen but would like to see how much the price drops on the older generation. For example: will an i7 3rd gen be same price as an i5 4th gen but provide better performance/better bang for the buck? If not, I may as well go with the new...

    Looking for help with Upgrade

Thanks, that is good to know. I can certainly wait and from a quick search seems like an official announcement should be made first week of June. This said, I'm not sure how much better this generation will be vs the previous one. I do not mind buying a higher-end older gen if the price...

    EVGA 8800 ULTRA dying?

The card idles at around 60C with the fan set to 82% so I do not think it is an overheating/fan issue. I do not have any additional cooling for the card and no overclocking has been performed. I guess I'll let eVGA do the baking and I hope their RMA service is as good as advertised. :)

    EVGA 8800 ULTRA dying?

I have an almost two years old EVGA 8800 ULTRA and I suspect it might be dying on me. It started with freezing couple days ago under Vista when playing video games (L4D and T2). The freezing would be preceded by red pixelations on the screen. Alt+Ctr+Del would get me back into the desktop...

    4X1GB TWIN2X2048-6400C4

I am in Canada, but the price here is not too bad either (19.99 after MIR) and since I have to buy another item, the shipping cost is not that much more. I guess I can always try to sell them if they do not work properly.

    WD1001FALS vs WD10EADS

Performance is important as this will be my primary drive. From other readings, the black seems to be the performance drive and green is more for storage but I am still trying to see if the price difference is worth it, $20 difference over here. Now, I am also considering a slightly smaller...

    Seeking feedback on gaming built

I am having a change of heart with the P5KC (I do not want DDR3 support at the moment). I would prefer to go with a P35 board. Which P35 that is in the $150 should I go if I want to do some overclocking and would like support for 45nm? Thanks again

    Seeking feedback on gaming built

Yeah I know, that is why I am torn between the two. However, the way I see it is if I can OC the Q6600 right now, I will still be able to play pretty much any game at the moment on this setup with high settings. I know, for now, the benchmarks favor the E6850 but I do not even know if I will...

    LG L204WT problem?

Yeah this may be a possibility. My GPU ambient temperature is at 47C and the GPU itself at 61C (when idling in the desktop). I will try to play at 1024 resolution to emulate my old screen. Is the DVI connection eating up more power than an analog connection?

    x800xl or 6800gt

This is what I had in my area (Canada) x800xl - $329 CAN 6800GT - between $500-600 CAN If price was not an issue I'd go with the 6800gt but since the difference in performance is minimal, I went with the x800xl and saved +$200 CAN.

Buyer having issues with ATI X800XL

I had a similar problem with my 800xl, but in my case I would play battlefield 2 for about 30 minutes and my PC would simply turn off without any blue screen. I changed from a 300 watts (not generic) to a 450 watts (generic) and everything seems to be wroking well since.

    6800GT or X800XL? bf2, sims2

Is BF2 your main concern ? http://anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=2466&p=1 A benchmark comparing both cards (and more) in BF2. I own an 800xl and BF2 plays very nicely at least to me. I just need an extra gig of ram to be able to have textures at high (game seems to have poor coding).

Just exchanged for a new one and it works fine, looks like the card was dead from the start. Gonna test if it can handle some action on the new PSU.
