I'm currently trying to find an affordable (read: < $300) DAC with either optical or digital input, with preamp functionality and volume that can be controlled with a remote control. It also must have line-level outputs alongside preamp-level outputs, and preferably both can be active at the...
Ah. I did some more research and it seems that your Gigabyte is 8.5" + 1" for the cooler, for a total of 9.5". Unfortunately, my Asus is 9.5" + 0.25" for the cooler, for a total of 9.75". Is there enough space for an extra 0.25"? I noticed in your thread that you said that there was only...
I recently purchased an ASUS 6850 DirectCU -- will this card fit into the Q11? I've heard conflicting reports on the size of card this case will fit... anywhere from 220mm to 250mm. Since the 6850 is 9.75" inches, will this fit?
I used the Lian Li fan controller, an inline 5V/7V adapter, and a T-Balancer miniNG (http://www.t-balancer.com/english/produkt_tban_mini.htm) -- the miniNG is an extremely good regulator. Regardless, my issue with the X-Silents is present with all three, and even when they're not undervolted...
Sigh... I can't win.
I went with the Noctua 140mms, and while there isn't a clicking noise with those, there's a very annoying low frequency alternating hum when they're undervolted. So far, the only fans that are acceptable to me are the Scythe S-Flex (120mm) fans -- so I'll be buying more of...
Hey guys,
I connected it directly to the power supply (via molex), to my Lian Li's fan controller (e.g. 5V and 7V), and also to my miniNG t-balancer. The clicking is there in all cases.
I also thought that they'd be quiet, after reading reviews online (SPCR, even!) but from my personal...
Do NOT get the Thermalright X-Silents. I heard good things about them too, so I bought 5 of them blind for my case -- there's a very annoying ticking noise regardless of orientation (it's worse when they're mounted vertically). It's present with all 5 of the fans.
Unfortunately, the place I...
Hi all,
I recently bought a refurbished 2007FP off of eBay for cheap, and when it arrived there's a small 2cm scratch on the screen. On a bright white background, the scratch is multicoloured, while on black it's invisible. When I run my finger through it, I can definitely feel it. I'm...
Your only option will be the X-Silent then! :D
Let me know what you think of them if/when you get them. They're out of stock here locally for another week or two, so I won't be able to test them out for myself until then :(
I'm personally going to be going with a bunch of the Thermalright X-Silent fans -- they're fluid dynamic bearing like the Scythe S-Flexes, and from initial reviews they're very quiet.
Aside from that, you can also look into Yate Loon's sleeve bearing 140mms; however, if you're going to be...
My monitor setup is 2x 2007FP and 1x 3007WFP-HC, and none of them have anything other than a DVI/VGA :(
A second card (8400 GS) is free, since I already have it!
Hm.. I may just go with the DP=>VGA route; my third monitor is only 1200x1600 and it's just a 2007FP.
Thanks for the replies! Time to pick up a cheap triple output card :D
Edit: Oh, do I need an active DP=>VGA adapter, or does it not need to be active?
Hello,
I'm currently using a triple monitor setup with two older nVidia cards, all DVI. I'm looking to consolidate to one card, and I stumbled upon one of the newer ATi cards with 2x DVI, 1x DP, and an HDMI port. If I don't bother with Eyefinity, can I just use the 2x DVI and an HDMI => DVI...
Well, if Lian Li (or any other case manufacturer for that matter) released a perfect case, then we wouldn't ever need to upgrade, now would we? That'd be a horrible business model for them! :p
Dust shouldn't be a problem -- I'm allergic to dust so I clean often. Hopefully the filters won't...
The reasoning for the X1000 over the A77Fis because my HDDs are enclosed in a 5.25" Silent Drive, which would fit behind the stock non perforated bezels. So hopefully that would make them less audible!
I know it seems contrived, but I fell in love with the case after reading up on some...
Aye. You are right -- I totally forgot the issue of noise with these open cases. I'm a stickler for quietness, and I am afraid that even with all Scythe fans at 5V and HDDs in Silent Drives it'd still be audible without a door. Good call.
I guess I'll go look around for some doored/non...
Nice post. Well, whatever case I get I expect it to last me a long time, so I don't really mind spending an extra 30% if it's something I definitely like better. I bought a Lian Li PC-75 8 years ago, and that was about the same price as the A77F -- it lasted me 3 builds before I tossed it and...
Hi everybody,
I'm currently going to be upgrading almost every component of my computer minus the video card and my SSD. I know in the past with WinXP you needed to do a full fresh install whenever you changed chipsets, but is it still the case with Win7? I've heard rumors that it's not...
Is there a direct correlation between wattage consumption and idle heat? e.g., if the 210 sits at idle a few watts lower than a 8400, can it be assumed that the 210 will give out less heat than the 8400 at idle?
I'm also currently using a P182 (and a P180 before that)! I've never liked its looks, but it was the quietest/best internally designed case for its time.
The problem with the A71 is that it reminds me too much of the P182... and I'm really over that type of look! :p
Thanks for the suggestions guys. The LL A71 looks pretty spiffy!
I'm also looking at the SIlverstone TJ10 with the window (yeah, I forgot to mention -- I'd prefer it if it had a window. I know that conflicts with most people's definition of 'classy', but I like them!). There doesn't seem...
Hi everyone,
I've been out of the hardware scene for a while, and I'm currently looking for a new case to transplant my rig into (fans and PSU dying in this one, so figured why not). I'm currently looking at the 800D and the Lian Li PC-P50, but the 800D doesn't suit my tastes and the P50's...
Hello!
I'm looking to get a second video card (PCI-e) for a third DVI output, and I'd like a passive, low heat card. I don't plan on doing anything intensive on it (just 2D things), and since it's going to be right below my (almost passive) 9800GTX+ I'd rather it not add any more heat to the...
Okay, the monitor seems to be perfect (according to my relative), it's just missing cables. Sent an email to the guy asking him to send the cables... since a DVI-D cable is kinda hard to come by (I think?)
