Bout an 8. HD598's have a very balanced sound, a good soundstage, and are known for their comfort. However, that doesn't mean you might not like the sound of the 702's better, gotta try them out to be sure.

I'm not into large amounts of bass. I would say the bass that is present in the HD598 is controlled and not muddy, but quantity wise, it is less than other headphones I have. Maybe a 5-7. I use them primarily for gaming, where large bass tends to overpower other, more important, sounds.

But yeah, I would say HD598 are very much a jack-of-all-trades headphone that don't need a lot of amping, work mostly the same with most types of music, and are good with games and movies too.

on a scale of 1-10 how would you rate your 598's? and could you rate the bass on 1-10 trying to decide between this set or the 702's from AKG I know the akg's have a larger soundstage but alot less bass.
