Ghost of Yōtei (PS5)

Didn't know this was out yet. Apparently suffers from the same issues of the first game, dated side quest design, pacing issues, but good sword fighting and fighting gameplay. Some people are saying it would have been better as a mission/level based game which is how I felt about GoT.

I never played the first one, but have been wanting to since it came out, as they seem like my type of games. I have to admit though I'm getting a bit fatigued by all the female protagonists and leads in games now, esp. in Sony's exclusives. It's not enough to stop me from playing, but in games where they play a large combat role it just harder to buy into and more distracting for me.

consoles are easier in terms of ease of use, plug-n-play...in terms of overall visual fidelity and upgradability it's PC all day
The only hard part about the initial part of a PC is setting it up. ( you can also pay to have this done ) Once that's done its better or just as easy as a Console..

my controller, mouse and keyboard are all plugin play.
I download games digitally just like consoles.. Steam makes this super easy..

The appeal of a console is just lazy man these days.

I agree that PC is better but I can see why folks prefer console...it's not just the initial setup...there's almost zero troubleshooting with a console...developers optimize everything for one system versus having to optimize for hundreds of different configurations

Plug and play, after waiting 4 hours on updates.
I've always had the option to play without updating on PS5. But I also don't play multiplayer games on it.

I can def say I've had less stability and performance issues on console than PC, mostly thanks to Windows. I can't wait until Steam OS or whatever other Linux distro dethrones Windows for gaming.

Sometimes I spend more time playing with graphical options to dial in performance than I do playing the game as well. So I also appreciate the 2-3 performance options you get on console usually to keep it simple.

Wait this didn't have PS5 pronsupport on release? TF? PS5 pro was the biggest waste of money I ever spent on a console.

Everyone could have told you that as soon as it was announced. It's not powerful enough to reasonably push 4k or do RT to any real degree, and the entire point of consoles is to code to just one specification. Is it any shock developers left the Pro behind unless Sony specifically pays them to do something with it?

Unless consoles go the way of the PC Graphics option screen, don't ever bother purchasing a console "upgrade". Outside of the initial ports it will quickly be forgotten.

I still need to finish this one. Really enjoyed what I have played of it so far though.

Layoffs Hit Ghost Of Yotei Developer Sucker Punch

Sucker Punch, the Sony-owned studio behind Ghost Of Tsushima and Ghost Of Yotei, is the latest developer of critically acclaimed games to face layoffs.

According to an ex-Sucker Punch employee to whom Aftermath spoke, 24 people have been let go [Correction: An earlier version of this article stated that 26 employees had lost their jobs. We have since learned that the number was actually 24].

In an email to staff viewed by Aftermath, studio leadership said:

“After carefully observing the challenges in the market and reviewing the team needs for our next project, we've decided to make some staffing reductions. Several positions across Sucker Punch will be eliminated as a result.”

”We know this is a lot to take in, and we want to assure you that we did not make this decision lightly. We have given this a lot of attention and worked to support our affected colleagues during this transition as well as we can. … There's no getting around that this is a hard day. Next week we will go into more details about the future.”

Gaming is dying too many players

that the issue ;)

I do not think gaming is dying, I feel that like all the numbers say, never been bigger with more revenues than ever before:

what is apparently happening, is that a lot of the gaming revenues and time are getting captured by forever games (say Fornite, counter strike, roblox, minecraft, GTA 5 online and so on), leaving less and less time and money to a new title like the next Ghost of yotei... Just look if those number estimate are close to be right how much people prefer and spent on in game transaction of old games over spending money on new title now.

One think that inflation has not been too much of an issue, is console-video game price since 1995, price are down, not up and by a lot, which is quite something.

Well that puts the nail in the Kicker for the last American last AAA Console game Developer. Gaming is dying too many players and Devs plus the economy sucks inflation. I heard the people stocking Halloween Candy saying it wasn't going as fast as previous years stuff went up a few dollars.
What? Naughty Dog, Insomniac, The Coalition (for now).

Without knowledge of the positions that were made redundant, it’s hard to speculate on the reasons for the cut backs.
