Mowing over high PPD folders from yesteryear

3 Billion points baby!

You should have watched Mauler's 17.5 hour video tearing that game a new one instead of playing it. Not only would you have kept the points it would have been much more entertaining. :p
I should add that I gained about 1 million PPD by offsetting the votlage to -80mV after watching Du8auers OC video for the 9070XT

Crazy to move up so quickly past so many inactive people and just folding again to try things out before Jan event...
It is a lot easier to mow over the old timers now because we were getting peanut points back then folding on CPUs! Nevermind those SR2 mobo setups that blew everyone away, then Opterons entered the mix, then GPUs and since CUDA, millions and billions of points!

Edit: Ooh, I see that I am in 14th place for PPD for last 24 hours!

Correct. The standard for points allocation was benchmarked on a Pentium 4 @ 2.8 Ghz. This was pre-hyperthreading so everything is phenominally faster now. Geez I remember feeling so impactful when I had my 1090T overclocked to 4 Ghz all core folding and surpassing 30K PPD! Those were the days. I don't mean to diminish anyone's PPD or overall points but I felt a sense of accomplishment when I went over 100K WU's, more so than when I crossed over 4B points. Just look at beekeeper with over 470K WU's! He's a legend and prob still doing some CPU crunching. I would too if the power bill wasn't so high. I hope you keep 'trying things out' til the challenge MrGuvernment

I remember around 2012 using a GTX 480 to get around 50K PPD, which considering a 9500 GT and PS3 would get around 1500 PPD, seemed so amazing.
Granted that the work units were much smaller back then compared to now, but those certainly were the days!

Exactly, back when I would fold with my Pentium 4 Northwood C over clocked for overclockers.com, seemed like the numbers barely moved :D

I contemplated getting a PS3 for moar PPD but I couldn't really afford it at the time, so I waited, then got an Athon x3 455 system a few years later, then added a GTX 460 which put out a lot more points. It was exciting to break 20k PPD with that system!

It is also amazing to see the prices of hardware today and what they are capable of back then compared to now in relation to other products on the market. Nobody in their right mind would want to hack a PS5 solely to run FAH or any other DC project on today compared to the same price point hardware that is already out there and the results you would get from it. I remember when the first XBox came out and people were buying them because they were considered "cheap" Linux PC's after mods.
