At least while the prices are still low. Yeah a $2k phone. But it can be worse and cost as much as a decked to the gills Macbook Pro M5 Max. At least being an hour from the Christiana Apple Store (no sales tax) and military discount gives me 16% off.
That would be nuts. Kind of like GPU and DDR5 prices.
 
I got my first phone when I was 35, it was a 4S.. and it was already 2 years old lol. Back in the days of the 3 year contracts..

Anywhoo.. I have never owned a current gen phone until this one, they are usually a couple of years old already by the time I buy one new lol.

I will say it is pretty nice, I could probably get 2-3 days out of a charge if I didn't use it at night to play music. Low power mode ftw lol..

My first smart phone was an Android that I put custom ROMs on after it couldn't get software updates anymore. I ran that thing into the ground until it wouldn't turn on anymore. My first iPhone was the 4S that I jailbroke as I missed doing that on Android. Those were good memories. And yes low power mode on these new phones with massive batteries is pretty crazy for battery life.

It's fascinating that phones like the OnePlus 15 can last for a couple of days of heavy use in normal mode... in low power mode, the battery life reaches "your lifeline during an extended power outage" levels.
 
i buy old phones when i need to upgrade. im using s21 now. im usually a few years behind. trying to get rid of samsung and go oneplus or something else. i hate samsung

I wouldn't go OnePlus, I'm afraid. The OP13 was great, and the OP15 still has some worthy features (namely that exceptional battery). But it sounds like the company is bowing out of the US market, and you don't want to be left with a phone that has only minimal support.

I'd pick a Google Pixel 9a if available, or 10a if you don't mind going new. I've used the 9a and it honestly feels like a flagship outside of a handful of areas (mainly thicker screen bezels and no telephoto lens). Just go with at least 256GB of storage, as 128GB is already barebones.
 
My last two have been oneplus they have each lasted many years and I've loved them BUT if I had to buy again today I'd be looking carefully to see if they are continuing in the US. I don't think oneplus is looking too healthy at the moment but I hope to be wrong.

Almost any mid phone has enough CPU and RAM for me. The features I have to have are dual sim and wifi calling support that actually works and it needs to be fully unlocked and work on affordable carriers like Red Pocket.

Everything else is secondary.
 
I have a 1TB S26 Ultra now, from a 512GB S23 Ultra.

Most of it was that I just wanted more space. I like hoarding huge amounts of media on my phone in case I need some entertainment in some weird situation, and I play mobile games. Some of which can get fairly big. Performance wise, there's basically no point. There's not really any noticeable difference.

Now obviously in theory you can get a phone with an SD card slot, but most of those aren't sold through my carrier, and 0% APR financing just makes the math work out much better for me. Also you can't offload storage for apps to a MicroSD. You can, but only a small part of it. That's what makes one of my tablets kind of worthless despite having a 512GB card in it. I think 1TB should be all I could ever need in a device, so I plan to baby this one. The usual Otterbox treatment and then screen guard and then probably will pick up a camera guard soon. Thankfully the batteries only got easier to replace on Galaxy line, so this one should be moderately simple if the JerryRig video is anything to go by. I don't suspect to ever need another one after this. There would just really be no point.

Yea. I just replaced a s21 ultra almost entirely because of the battery life degradation. I really liked that phone though. I hope I can keep this 26u running nearly as long as I did the 21

Best thing is they now both have physical telephone lenses for portraits.

1100 plus tax each both free with 2 new lines added to T-Mobile ditching metro.

I've been on T-Mobile for over 10 years anyway so win.

The only smart phones I've ever truly enjoyed outside the iPhone has been Samsung phones. All my friends are on iPhones though and have about 1000 group chats for 1000 different things and constantly use features like voting polls, pooled Apple Pay, etc. and it would be impossible to go back at this point.

The wife and I both got 26+'s through Spectrum. Pretty cool and a lot faster than my old phone.
Only cost me $9 more a month for 3yrs. A no brainer to me, plus they gave me $200 off the total bill for the wife's A51 :ROFLMAO: .
I think I'll sell my S20 FE UW on the forums here shortly.

Well, not having to be in 1000 group chats would sell me on the Samsung.
 
Back to the OP question, nope don't care much about phone. Still on my iPhone 14 Pro, battery still makes it through the day unless I have to sit on a zoom call long or something. Mostly used during work hours, not much at home. When the battery gets lower I'm just going to replace it and keep it another 4-5 years or whenever it loses support.
 
Apparently, Apple gave newer iPhone handsets a setting to avoid charging past 80%. I have to do it manually, hoping I don't forget every time I charge. Unfortunately, a setting that should be free for everyone means I have to care about a newer product.

I've never done that with any of my phones and have never had issues - I just don't do fast or wireless charging (unless once in a blue moon 'emergency' and late for the airport or something) and don't leave my phone in the heat, like the car when it's off

Gonna run my (newish) 16e into the ground for as long as I can, was on a 8 Plus before I got the 16e when it first came out (edit: and before the 8 Plus I was strictly Android/Moto G etc)

Man ... my new 14.6" S11 Galaxy Tab Ultra that I bought to set up for my vision impaired grandma just arrived and I'm half tempted to go back to a Samsung Ultra phone. The freaking display on this thing. What a gorgeous tablet. And I found a nice launcher for seniors that makes the buttons and font freaking massive. Forgot how much I enjoy having zero roadblocks due to full customization. My grandma is on a tiny Android fire tablet. She's going to love this thing. I thought I missed customization. I don't.
 
I haven't for awhile. I used my iPhone 8 for like 5 years before upgrading to the 15 Pro. I expect I'll use this one until the battery degrades significantly.
