Fallout 76

So no mention about mods...interesting. I like how you can build ANYWHERE on the map thats a huge plus. Dedicated servers? Can you rent them or host your own?.....A lot of questions still, but I am semi interested.

So I was wrong about my previous comment about it being like DayZ.
I see it's more like Rust/Ark. So a survival game as some predicted.
People say it at least is not battle royale type of game, but we don't know that. I mean, you can build anywhere in Fortnite ;)

Obviously a lot of questions and concerns remain namely: Griefing.

Can people can a "normal" Fallout experience out of this and oh, by the way, human players are in the mix, too? If the answer is "yes" then this has promise but just that alone is a loaded question that a lot of things stem off of.

Yesterday I saw this referred to as Fallout 4.76 which I thought was pretty funny. Definitely a lot of questions about this game right now but come November we'll all have a better idea. I highly doubt there will be subscriptions.

Ok......so after a lot of yelling and a nights rest I have calmed down. Online could be ok. I remember playing a mod for Fallout 1 that was online. It was pretty fun, this could be too.

Im confused as to why Super Mutants are in the game? This game takes place during the time The Master is just starting to create his SM army at Mariposa on the west coast. How the hell are SM's already in West Virginia in the East? One clue is in the Collectors Edition of the game where I spotted a "WestTek" bag. Maybe the main story will revolve around WestTek?

I really don't know how I feel about this game. Todd just did an interview that it is online only and that there are no human NPCs. He said basically instead of running into a group of raiders you'll be running into a group of real people. He also confirmed that there will be no mods at the start, but they will be added to make it like "your own private world that you can mod." I guess that means either offline or private servers. I'm worried that they're going to somehow limit it to creation club crap.

There are still a lot of unknowns. That being said, I have the collectors edition pre-ordered. I want the power armor. I just hope the game ends up being fun and I can get my money's worth.

Ugh.

It might be done well, like forest where you can just play with friends. I hate might bes.

I 100% agree, the only reason I'm doing it is because of the physical items. I think that should be the only exception. Of course they are giving out beta access based on preorders so there are going to be a ton because of that.

I thought about getting the CE, but couldnt justify spending 200 on a prop. Although its super cool!

I expect retconning of game canon. Most of Boston or DC would be a 'Glowing Sea' in a real nuclear war. They did at least have a plausible explanation for Las Vegas surviving more or less intact.
Regarding mutants, they were also making them in capital region vault 87 but the date escapes me.

This game will be ass. Unlockable crates are sure thing.

You scour "Fallout 76 griefing" and pretty quick you get the idea there's some potentially serious problems going into this unless they make some changes.

Many a true nerd on youtube did his take on everything that we knew from E3, and I think I'll have to agree with him when he says this griefing thing is getting blown out of proportion. He makes some really valid points such as:

We're talking dozens of people on a map four times the size of Fallout 4. How often are you really going to see someone?

It sounds like the CAMP system would allow you to rebuild instantly. Why bother nuking someone when you could just move and rebuild? If nukes are going to be hard to come by (which it seems like) why would you waste them?

Somewhere it was mentioned that the aftermath nukes will give you the best chance at the rarest resources. He argues that nukes going off will probably mean everyone will rush towards them.

Granted there is still a ton of speculation. I'm looking forward to more information coming out. Todd did say that they are working on balancing PVP so we'll see what happens.

I think they are underestimating the will of people who like to fark with other people.

Friend ran a private server for ark. There were three of us in there. We ran into each other on a regular basis without planning to.

I still don't know what the hell fallout 76 is. I love the basic formula. Is this a MMO? Is this 4 person coop? Does it run on servers? Are there PvP & COOP servers? Way too early for a preorder.

All combined, these tell the tale, broadly speaking.

I enjoyed Fallout 3, but not so much Fallout 4. I think the formula is just wearing on me. I love a good single player game, open world or not... and so many Publishers are shying away from them right now because of the success of Fortnight and PUGB, that I want to support SP centered Publishers like Bethesda. However this game just looks tired, diluted and like a space filler until next gen to me.

I like that they seem to want to perfect the Building that they experimented with in Fallout 4, but that is really the only appeal for me. The antiquated graphics, animations and set pieces have all worn out their welcome. This still looks like a DirectX 9 engine. :vomit:

So much this. I'm firmly in the "F that S" camp until we at least see some gameplay and learn more details.

The moment I read "always online", I lost all interest in the game. Shame, I liked the fallout franchise but I refuse to support any game that requires an online connection to just play it.

Super honesty time....

I bit on the Amazon deal.

I've bought every open-world Bethesda game since Morrowind. (kinda hard to stop now heh)

So basically, I've been playing the exact same game/formula for the past 16 years. (with minor difference obviously)

HOPEFULLY, this one will be a unique experience due to its online component.

To quote Mr Miyagi from Karate Kid: "Different, but same."

I'm not sure how to feel about this game and will definitely wait for reviews. Looks like all the speculation about it being an MMO or online game was true.

MEH.. looks like Fallout 4 with Co-OP add some catchy background music and you have an Instant hit you need the Bethsada launcher as well.

Don't mean to be a dick but the video is a rehash of what has already been seen from previous videos. Nothing new.

So, apparently Todd Howard has said that this game will not have crossplay. He referred to Sony making it difficult as the reason. I think this would have been a good feature for a co-op type game as this appears to be. Too bad.

I don't need the ability to have console shits running around in my game. Each platform will have a decently large playerbase so this crossplay nonsense seems like the gaming blogs trying to make a big deal about nothing.

Yeah honestly, I'd rather not have cross platform take off. It will kill off what few PC oriented MP games we have left. Shooting mechanics and whatnot will have to be designed around loose, inaccurate controller abilities. And I hate FPS games with TF2 style shooting.

I know it works okay for some games and may be okay for Fallout 76, but unfortunately the industry doesn't work with exceptions. Anything to save a few cents and make an extra buck or two, players and experience be damned. It is all or nothing. I wouldn't mind a controller based game like Sonic All Star Racers (aka Mario Kart on PC) having cross platform, but shudder to think what Battlefield would be like. If that means preventing big titles like Fallout 76 from being cross platform, so be it. I'm glad Sony is making is a pain in the ass just for these reasons.

You know, they could just do cross platform between switch, PS4 and Xbox and leave pc out of it, but I guess I'm the only pc player who can think up that option going by all the comments on the internet.

It's mostly Phil Spencer who is pushing for this, seeing ms is selling a lot less consoles then Sony and if PS and xbox players can play together it would increase player counts for common games pretty high up and there would be less peer pressure to buy the same console as their friends in order to play together.

Also Nintendo does not seem to be opposed against this, just Sony.

Imagine the Call of Duty populations with PS4/Xbox crossplay....

The "Big 2" should've incorporated crossplay at the onset of this console generation.

Personally, I think PC should stay to itself; as should Nintendo.

But PS4/Xbox crossplay on multi-platform titles just makes way too much sense....
