Dark Souls 3

I had all the Sorcerer Gear already it was just a matter of Respecing. That Soul Steam Scroll is hidden really well I would of never found it without a fellow youtube video that was posted.

Lothric Knights aren't so bad once you get their rhythm down. Let them charge you, roll behind them, hit them for a 1-2 combo, back off so they don't go wild on you unless you really want to get frisky, rinse and repeat.

Really? My strategy is to wait for them to begin a strike, roll behind them and then GO CRAZY. Works every time, but maybe I'm more specced into attack than you are. The buffed version I have to do it twice, as long as I roll away right before I run out of stamina the first time it works out.

I usually just parry and riposte, usually takes them down to death or quite close.

I actually hit them once with a soul arrow, roll forward to the angle of the gap between them and their shield, and hit them multiple times. I can usually pull it off without running out of stamina. (high dex high int sorcerer with rapier)

For whatever reason, I love the Black Knight Greataxe in DS3 (it was meh in DS1). My strat for Lothric Knights is to stay just outside their attack range, let them swing, then step inward and swing away 1, 2, & back away. At 40STR+20DEX, I'm doing like ~1200 damage if both hits connect. If the first strike connects, they are stunned which guarantees the second will hit. I don't try for a 3rd as that's greedy (plus my stamina bar is pretty much shot).

You can cheese them even more with two-handing something like a Zweihander (for extreme reach). Run jump overhead attack and they're pretty guaranteed to be stunned (unless they were already midway through their attack). If your hit connects, you'll have enough recovery time (depending on how much stamina you have) to either get a horizontal slash or another overhead attack in. Wash rinse repeat. This was pretty much my main strat for DS1, although in DS3 everything seems to recover much faster, so no greed for me.

I'm greedy. :D Usually means that I'll end up dying a few times trying to get something down, but once I do I'll take those greed-swipes. hehehe

looks like there is no lava ring (same as Dark Souls 2) so I had to equip Flash Sweat (pyromancy) and equip my best flame rings to get all the items in the lava...nothing really worthwhile in there anyway but I'm a completionist and need to get everything in the game :)

That works if you have the AR to break their poise (if you have a thrust attack you can stunlock them from the get-go), but as a general strat it's what works from SL1, to avoid their close range combos.

I thought I was gonna do a second playthrough immediately after completing the game, but after completing my simple goals for my first playthrough (go in blind, play pure melee, beat the game with the starting weapon, do all areas/bosses) I'm probably gonna give it a break for a while, though I'm gonna spend a little time watching some players playing it on twitch and youtube.

Damn the Cha..... Gun... boss killed DSP 68 times in a row over a period of a few hours. 69th was the charm. Well say what you want about phil, you can't say he doesn't have persistence. Also can't wait till Kay (from the Kay Plays channel) starts playing it, I think she has the best Souls let's-plays out there. Kotaku wrote an article on her a couple weeks ago.

Well, I finally folded and bit.

Dling now.

Will post again once installed to verify an ole' rig like mine can actually run it etc.

Are the latest Nvidia drivers neccesary or should I be cool using 361.91? (overall very happy with current driver stability / lack of issues)

Nah, I wouldn't update unless you have to.

I got all the Pyromancy Tombs along with the Pyromancy guy and girl Karla my INT is pretty high so I thought Fire Storm would do alot of Damage I think I need the Right Rings and to Spec the Pyromancy Flame to a Higher level so I got the Titanite Shards on the Vendor but haven to Farm for the other spells and get the Flame and Rings. That is after I said I wasn't going to play for a while =)
I did like a 24+ hour marathon playing the game my eyes kinda feel funny. Plus I work tommorow.

Is there a way to get Human Dregs besides farming them with the Disciples? How often to they drop?

Make sure you have both Lava Pits... Did not realize the smaller one until I was looking for items I missed

Anything different if Siegward survives the Yhorm fight? He died in one hit from the boss (after rushing, so I couldn't even get near Yhorm to deflect attention).

Upon victory, Siegward sits down and toasts (Sigbrau) to you & his 'old friend' Yhorm. As you walk away, he fizzles out in typical Souls style. You can then loot his armor, shield and a sword.

He prematurely died on you because 'he wasn't using his head.'

I tried this game on my Console monitor which is a 1080P AH-IPS was blown away how good it looks.
I just wanted to see if the Dark Areas of the game would look too Dark on a IPS. I tried a Co-Op with the Forgotten or Nameless king and the Host Lost :muted:

I'm still avoiding spoilers and not reading this thread yet but had to vent a little: Bonfire frequency is BS. It makes the game way too easy even on NG+. You should NOT be able to see another bonfire while standing at one.

This was a problem in DS2 also, right? Hacked items given away to players (either dropped or via banishing the invading enemy) and then boom you get soft-banned for having the items on your account.

Worse than hacked items, because you can avoid picking them up. All he has to do is hit you and you'll get soft banned, and he insta teleports to your character (and is invisible)

Wtf I want to play I just got to Ithyril or whatever the flock its called...

Well, public service announcement: Do not play online at the moment. Get invaded = get banned.

https://www.reddit.com/r/darksouls3/comments/4h4z6q/psa_if_you_get_invaded_by_malcolm_reynolds/

And it's only a matter of time before this cheat is by more than just him.

hopefully From Software reverses the bans on people who are getting caught up in this...if this is a known issue and the guy is streaming it on YouTube then it should not hold up...one time in DS2 I got invaded and the guy reset all my stats

On certain levels, it does seem like there are too many. Quite a few times, I went from one bonfire to the next without dying.
I think FROM did it to appease all of the complainers that the last souls games were too hard. Cathedral of the Deep did it right. Only a few bonfires but lots of shortcuts to open.

So far, I'm liking the game. But the levels don't seem to have the same variety as DS1. I'm currently at the Abyss Watchers.

In DS1, and DS2, From has yet to EVER reverse a softban.

Keep that in mind. These hacks they are using have existed from DS1, and continue to today.

I was reading that if you restore an older save before getting banned, you can avoid the soft ban. Not sure if true or not but I'll be doing a daily backup of my saves.

I created a NTFS Junction in my dropbox for the DS3 save folder, so It automatically is saved for me anytime it changes, and Dropbox keeps past versions.

Let's get a grip, gents. One hacking troll =/= everyone running scared. There are zillions of people playing this game.

according to Bandai Namco the softban is temporary until their server team reviews the account...

"The warning message ("Invalid Game Data") will continue to be displayed until the Dark Souls III server team has determined whether or not a violation of the End User License Agreement (EULA) occurred. At that point the account/profile will either have restrictions placed on it (to limit the online interactions during multiplayer sessions and a further penalty message of "You have been Penalized" issued) or the "Invalid Game Data" warning message removed."

either way I manually backup my save every so often...in case anyone was wondering the DS3 save file location is "%appdata%\Roaming\DarkSoulsIII/bunch of random numbers"

I finally beat Champion Gundyr and Nameless King solo in my 2nd playthrough...those were the only 2 bosses I used summoning help for in my 1st run...using summoning help made me feel dirty and felt like I hadn't really beat the game...so in my 2nd run I made sure to level up and prepare...they were still hard as hell (more so Nameless King) but damn it was satisfying to kill them solo...now I feel I've truly beaten Dark Souls 3...Gundyr is actually really easy to parry but his 2nd phase is so wild that it throws off my timings so I just straight beat him down and abandoned the parry...Nameless King's 2nd phase is crazy because his blows take away so much stamina that you need to learn his timings and master rolling...either way I feel clean again now :D

I've always habitually kept back-up saves. Mainly dating back to when I was making a NG+ runthrough of DS2 and wanted to avoid having to replay the tedious areas.
I'm playing this one "legit," but I still habitually keep a back up folder in case something zany happens.

I just got to that snow city and found out I have never upgraded my estes flask.

Holy Shit. Burned them all and went to +5. Used to take 4-5 flasks to refill my health, now one almost fills it up. Game suddenly became much easier.

I just finished this up, farmed the boss for a while helping people. This is where DS3 really starts for me, it suddenly got very hard. I must have died 25 times. I'm up to +7 :)

the mid-fight cutscene during the Twin Princes boss fight was absolutely brilliant...when it transitioned from the 1st phase to the 2nd phase...the voice acting and dialogue was perfect..."Dear Brother...I'm on my way...rise if you would"...really chilling and well done

Amazing fight, and one of the biggest highlights of the entire series for me. Mechanics is interesting, but its the atmosphere that is outstanding.

Finally finished last optional boss (the hard one) and the game. Big props to devs making a great sequel and keeping the game challenging, at least for the casual pve players :)

I cheated using a Trainer with the Dragon Slayer Armorer I really don't care =) Untill I got paranoid about the Bans I wasn't going to spend a few days stuck on this guy..
