At IFA 2015 in Berlin, Germany, upcoming innovations and products such as the ROG Swift PG348Q curved display and the ROG 7.1 surround sound gaming headset were unveiled. People at the event got to see firsthand these exciting products, but if you were not able to be there, don’ worry, we won’t let you miss out. You may know this gorgeous 34-inch IPS curved display from Computex 2015 in June, but redesigned and now dons the new Plasma Copper and Armor Titanium color scheme to compliment the rest of the latest range of ROG gear. PG348Q has an ultra-wide 21:9 aspect ratio with an incredible 3440 x 1440 resolution, most wide displays only go as far as 16:9 (WQHD – 2560X1440). The curved display combined with the ultra-wide aspect ratio wraps around you to provide an immersive viewing experience like never before. The 100Hz refresh rate with NVIDIA G-SYNC technology deliver smooth and stutter-free gaming, immediately noticeable in FPS and fast action games.

Not expected to be sold until Q1 2016 sadly.

This monitor is very high on my want list but I fear it will have a very high price, hoping for less then $1000 but fear it will be over $1200.

Whelp.... Need... Badly

Need? No, but want? HELL YES!

When I first saw this discussed, I think it was here on [H], I knew that this could well be what my new rig drives eventually. :D

This curved screen thing a fad like 3d or is it here to stay?

I never bought into the whole curved TV, but always thought it would be great for monitors where you sit close enough that the curve would make a difference.

Nice try ASUS. I said BIGGER. Go north of 40" and give me 4K resolution at 100Hz with G-Sync and I'll take one.

Now this could be the absolute perfect gaming monitor. 34", 21:9 curved I think would be the ideal monitor size.

Dell, HP, Samsung, and LG already have the glass on shelves.

They're pretty nice, I was surprised how great a curved monitor "feels" to view.

I'm struggling to give a shit about asus announcements these days. They announce so much stuff and then it's 6-9 months, if ever, before it's available. They admit it in the press release in this one, announced 3 months ago. Reannounced because they've changed the colour and still won't be available for a minimum 4 months.

It sounds cool but unless I can buy one soon they're just wasting everyone's time. I genuinely think they do these announcements just to see if it's worth releasing.

Agreed with announcing too soon. But it did just move me away from the very similar Dell and Samsung curved monitors. Hopefully there won't be too much of a price hike by the time this comes out. Sub $1000 would be awesome.

Would be nice. But such a monitor is likely at least 2 years away due to the DP 1.3 requirement

No hardware lut? No uniformity compensation processing? No polarizer? And it will probably cost around $1k too?

And then people who bought it will complain that it comes with 1.8 gamma (like the TN one), tint, ips glow and blb. :D

I've got the LG 34 inch curved and its nice. The Asus has better specs in that my LG doesn't have Nsynch but I seem to game just fine on it and the witcher 3, skyrim and other games are great experiences. I wouldn't want that weird skin and color on my desk-sometimes conservative is better.

We all want 4k with 100+Hz but let's face it until DP 1.3 comes out it's not gonna happen as I don't see manufacturers doing some dual DP 1.2 setup to achieve it.

The only thing I noticed in the picture was the garbage bag in behind it. Cheap ass doesn't buy force flex?

I may be interested in this by next year. I had a 5760x1200 NV surround setup and then switched to a single LG UM95 34UM95 at 3440x1440. I really like the ultra wide screen in most games. I am having some connection problems with the LG at times and it has a little bit more black light bleed that I like.
I like the idea of the curved screen because I sometimes miss the wrap around feel I had with the three monitors.

Also I am interested in the G sync. Is it worth it? Anyone have a monitor with G sync and would you recommend it enough for the extra cost?

5K monitors already use dual DP 1.2, so it's possible.

Great. Was waiting on the Acer X34, and now they announce this one that could beat the Acer. More waiting...

It doesn't make any sense for a TV unless you're the only person watching and are able to sit in the sweet spot (i.e., very close and centered), but that's what makes it perfect for a monitor. The only other use case is on a very large screen that's capable of encompassing a larger audience (e.g., projection).

In for an endless game of waiting with that one.. Pascal might bring DP 1.3 allowing for 4k 120HZ... Then you'll see an OLED variant teased right when you're ready to buy that.. by then HMD's have gotten god tier and all of a sudden you're still sitting here with an ROG Swift telling yourself that gosh darnit this next display is THE ONE..

I'm pretty i sure i described the majority of this board (including myself)

I think at this point having less than 4K doesn't make enough sense for the kinda price these will sell at.

2560x1440 is almost perfect for desktop use and gaming at a reasonable 27" size and having G-sync or freesync over 100hz makes it very a viable resolution across many tiers of current and future dx12 use and there is room for better color and contrast.

2560x1080 and 3440x1440 don't match up for good desktop use or offer good gaming resolution advantages in ways that a 3840x2160 screen doesn't handle better and going forward, once GPUs get DP1.3 and monitors start doing over 100Hz it will make even less sense.

The real resolution that will make a difference is 5120x2160. At least then "4K' content will be full resolution be it 4096x2160 or 3840x2160, and 1080p will scale evenly and it has enough resolution so for desktop use you can use a single monitor 36"-40" large and not really need a 2nd monitor.

I hope that once UHD blu-ray ships with HDR this fall we start to see monitors with HDR and a better color gamut to so we can move to 10-12 bit options and start to get real good color fidelity and HDR in pc gaming instead of more TN panels that barely do 8 bit because if we don't HMDs will be were gaming moves and it will be a long time before they do low latency "4K" and 10-12bit color with HDR if the desktop monitors don't start to get it first.

Ultrawide makes for excellent productivity uses for me. Going bigger resolution doesn't get the same gains in a less useful form factor.
