World of Warships Enters Open Beta!

I do. Better comms. Typing in shit during play doesn't cut it. We need voice comms.

Teamspeak isn't realistic because it won't work well in pickup battles, which is 99% of WoW. It heeds to be built into the game.

funny because VOIP in game usually ends up not being used or turned off by almost everyone. this is why they don't put it in there.

MWO added in game VOIP and NO ONE uses it. The community bitched and moaned for them to add it, they did, then they bitched and moaned to make sure it could be turned on/off, and then they all just turned it off and continued to use TS.

No one wants to hear 12 year old bitching and the aholes who blast music or other junk through it even though you can just easily MUTE that single player...no one cares to.

MM means Match Maker. Also, here is a really wacked out one.

Somehow my team won with only one ship lost.

Jesus Rollerblading Christ that's a lot of BB's

Nice. Whenever I see something like that and people complaining I feel like Herm Edwards:
lol

Chances are the team with the higher tiered ships is going to have a more difficult time with the objective since the lower tiered players will play more passively, expecting the higher tier to do more. I saw that so much in my Yamato back in CBT that I didn't play it for almost 3 months.

I despise VOIP. I steer clear of Teamspeak as well. People tend to have an extremely negative attribute of chatting about the most retarded shit and worst of all, talking about it constantly. I won't watch certain streamers at times when they're on TS because of how goddamn annoying the other people in there are, lol.

And I'd personally disagree that it's needed in random battles. Closing on 1,000 battles, my friend and I have one of the top win rates in NA without once using VOIP. Making a division with someone who complements your skill and playstyle works just as well.

lol, I left MWO a while ago but I remember all that. It's unfortunate that Battletech/Mechwarrior has such a passionate fanbase but no one to do it justice for them.

This is why you should NEVER stay zoomed in a battleship on the Ocean map. I literally cruised up on the other side of the BBs and dropped 4 sets of torps into the other side of them without firing my guns. Got 2 BBs, a CV and a CA doing that.

shot_15_09_05_22_00_09_0442.jpg

*edit* I REALLY should start recording my games. Also, I'm down for divisions any time for tier V - VII. In-game name is Chibster.
*edit duece* down, not done :(

^^ i love trying to do that now, now i am learning how to play my DD's better i always look for that BB who guns always stay focused in one direction, get around them and BAM!

on so many maps people all rush out on their own, so i wait a minute, see where the action is, find the gap and head right over to the other teams side and see who i can get from behind..

When you get sunk, is there any penalty for going back to port and starting another battle with another ship before your current battle is over?

And what the hell is the pink ship?

Update: "I haven't seen too many of these, but just for reference, if you see a pink name, it means the person, in a prior match, performed enough damage to be marked as a team killer, per the 0.3.1 bulletin.
If the friendly fire continues, then the player will be marked as a team killer, easily identified with their in-game name turning pink, and will have their battle capability immediately reduced to half. If they still persist, they'll automatically be banned! Upon returning, they'll have to go many battles without damaging an ally before they're back at full fighting capability."

No, there's no penalty for leaving the match after you're dead.

And yes, pink = team killer. I watched a Hatsuharu destroy four teammates and didn't turn pink, lol

sadly our only hope of a true battletech/mechwarrior game was MWLL and crytek made sure that mod never became successful.

as far as VOIP goes as long as it's optional to turn off/on i see no reason why it couldn't be there.. although i do wish there was a way to just chat within your division in the ingame chat but the chats already bad enough having to hit tab to change between team/all chat.. just give me my damn T Y U chat hotkeys damnit!

I agree, division chat is a must at this point.

Also, finally got around to doing that Mogami video that got nuked by the update which broke all the replays I had saved. The Amagi and North Carolina videos were also screwed. Goddamn setbacks.

Mogami overview. Such a damn good ship...with the 155s.

Am I just a moron and have never noticed in World of Tanks, you can't even sell a vehicle with complex equipment unless you pay the gold to remove everything first, or is this different in Warships? I have a small pool of gold in Tanks from events, missions, maybe an old premium I got tired of, and I guess I don't mount equipment as often as I have in Warships.

Got myself into a spot where I'm having fun in the St. Louis, Minekaze, and Cleveland, and want to progress down the battleship lines, but can't sell any ships because they all have equipment mounted requiring doubloons to remove.

In the pre-beta you could destroy the items to 'dismount' without gold. I don't see why that would have changed. I think you have to do it manually under the ships modules.

If you click the gold you can switch it to be sold for 50% original price in silver. You don't get to transfer the upgrades as result, but it allows you to sell the ship.

Nice, thanks, I'm free of a few obsolete ships.

I would never, ever sell the St. Louis.

On a bad day when you just want to have fun, nothing is finer than a St. Louis raining down hell and terror on someone :)

And the whole Dabloons thing is the one thing that tries very hard to ruin this game.

Don't buy Premium Ships.

I bought the Atlanta. Cost me $42. Figured wth. why not.

Well, the problem is it comes with an additional bonus you didn't count on.

Everyone, from the enemy to your own team to the fucking fish below you hate you for it. You last about 3 minutes in battle because every one puts their normal lives on hold long enough to gang up on and kill your ass, then everyone goes about their normal game.

WTF!

I can sell it for 7 million in game. I'm really considering doing it.

i wish they let you pick the maps to play ocean map is nice for cvs im tired of little tiny island maps

Very true! I always hate the wallet warriors, its the first thing I go to kill. They think theyre better and their ship bought with real money is better than anyone else, were here the Freemium warriors to prove you wrong, you and your ship are nothing special get REKT as first blood and the battle will resume as normal afterwards. Its a hate relationship no other way around it.

Unless they actually say "hey, I'm better than you because I bought this ship" that's an odd attitude to take. Hell, I've had my Atlanta gifted to me from someone else and the other premiums were from contests/etc. I've yet to purchase a premium ship myself but apparently just by driving one of them I'd be a Wallet Warrior™?

It's a free to play game. Those people buying the ships are making your gameplay possible, whether you like it or not.

Also, just wait until the Tirpitz is up for sale. You're going to shit all over yourself with Wallet Warrior Rage (also ™)

huh im a bit confused? how is premium ships any different then premium tanks in wot ? never seen anyone that said the hate me because of that... some are just jealous u can buy premium ships but first thing i heard u get shit because u own one...

Only reason why I go for altantas is because, on average, the players dont know how to play a tier 7 game and their armor is paper thin. A light gust would take out those guns ;).

..and an ignored Atlanta can put a lot of shells downrange in a very very big hurry. So, yes, given the option, I'm going to try to prioritize an Atlanta. The thought that someone bought it never crosses my mind.

Glad I spent $42 to piss in everyone's wheaties LOL

I'm unloading it.

I sold mine around 1-2 months ago. The problem is you need a captain with the +20% range skill or your range is god awful. By the time you have a captain with that you could just use a Cleveland.

Usually people in paid for ships get raped anyways. I always love watching a Tiripitz run straight up the middle...

Also this. Personally, I would love to screw around with the Atlanta and fire ALL the guns. Just don't tell my Russian ohama that.

I sold it to ShipMax for 7.1 Million. I'll let the next sucker deal with it :)

I'm working on getting my Wyoming upgraded to the New York, but in looking at the specs it almost seems to be a step backwards? What am I missing here?

Should I hop left to the Langley carrier instead? It's half the cost to research !

The blue line was strong in me today. My team on hotspot got pincered and I was forced off to the side to survive. Had to beat back 2 DD, 2 CA, and a BB. Come out on top :p Pictures of the aftermath in the spoiler section because I dont feel like resizing or exploding everyones browser.

Its a straight-up upgrade over the wyoming. Better range, better AA, faster, and more HP. Actually enjoyed the NY and then I got the New Mexico.

How the hell are you guys getting such high XP scores ?

I'm on a premium account, get about the same number of hits, but get like 400-600 XP ???

That was my first victory of the with the pepsi, so it had the 2X on it. As for you getting 400-600 XP, that is pretty low for a premium account. Is that your average XP you get win or lose. Also, what are you playing and what is your average damage detail?

You need to get more shots off, more shots/ hits = more XP or more damage.

is there an [H] division?

That is basically the main way to get XP and winning. Other stuff, like capturing points and shooting planes do grant XP, but barely.

Clans are not yet in the game. Wouldn't mind being in one.

Getting difficult to bother playing with how fucking abysmal the players are. Had a match with two shimas on my team who tk'd each other in spectacular fashion for one running into the other. Had a match where the two higher tier ships were AFK. Had a match with a carrier who went to the corner of the map after complaining about the matchmaker and left the game. Had a match just a second ago where a Colorado had a beached Iowa dead to rights and he only fired HE at the Iowa and turned to show his broadside each time the Iowa was ready to fire. He'd take damage and then turn to cover his side.

It's amazing how strong the resistance is to learning.

i blame premium making it to easy to grind ships and i blame the fact that it's taking way to long to get russian/german ships into the game.. started seeing stuff like that as well before i finally said enough and it was time for a break.. been playing the same ships since the start of CBT..

i'm going to take a wild guess and sounds like you're using battleships.. early on T3/4 the XP grind is painful as hell in battleships.. T5 and up you have better armor pen/range/damage makes it a bit easier to grind XP.. cruisers you'll make double the XP of a battleship in any tier for the most part.

It's because the Atlanta can dish out so much damage so fast if it gets in range. I've seen one take half the hp of a Colorado before the Colorado could fire once. Though they are glass canons.

You lose XP for damage ? I can never tell. The card comes up and goes away before I can read it, and I've found no way to recall it.

I generally run the Wickers, Wyoming, the cruiser after the St Loi (I forget the name), and the St Loi.

Phoenix. No, you don't lose XP for damage.

There's a case for firing as frequently as you can. There's also a case for moving past that and looking for the best opportunity to:

1.) do real damage (looking for easily reached broadsides)
2.) focus firing a boat with teammates (I've noted less whining about kill stealing...is that because I'm playing t5-t6 instead of lower?), because the best red boat is a grey boat.
3.) targeting an objective (boat, cap, positioning) that improves your team's chances of victory. E.g. I prefer cruiser play, so I'm always looking around for DD's near the ships I'm supporting to hopefully kill, or at least keep far enough away from my teammates that they're effectively neutralized.
4.) Staying alive. Dead boats don't score points and make money.

What is wrong with this fuking game? Stock tier 6 beats a Fully modded tier 5, how does that make any sense? EXPLAIN!

I am not sure if you guys understand the mechanics of the game from these posts... Try looking up AP vs HE videos on YouTube and such. In general try to hit ships showing their broadside.

Hit count doesn't mean that much. Damage does.
