Grand Theft Auto V

You can move the program without it affecting the saves.

If you want to back up your saves and settings, go here
Windrive:\Users\%user%\Documents\Rockstar Games\...

im going to do a fresh install of windows, so just copy the info in that folder?

I don't think Rockstar backs-up our saves to their cloud so everyone should be manually backing up their Saves folder every now and then.

You wouldn't happen to be using the optimization fix that Reddit claims reduces CPU use, which is closing the Rockstar Social Club app during gaming? If you close the RSC app when GTAV is running, you will crash eventually.

If you're not using that "fix", try elevating the Rockstar Social Club program to run as admin via the compatibility tab in Windows Explorer, then reinstall the redistributables for GTAV (DirectX and Visual C runtimes) and rebooting. If you're running the Steam version you can also run the verifying tool, which will find and replace any corrupted files.

no im not running any fix. only thing i do when i run the game is that i will alt tab and go back to game. by the social club app are you refering to the launcher? i am running the game through steam

Can confirm this. I tried that batch file/method twice on launch day that closes the launcher after the game launches.. Crashed twice.. Haven't used it since and hasn't crashed since.

GTAV actually has a launcher, a pre-launcher and the Social Club program.

To be clear, I'm talking about the executable located at "C:\Program Files (x86)\Rockstar Games\Social Club\". It's called subprocess.exe. Try forcing it to run as admin.

i am running the game through steam
Then, after re-installing the redistributables and rebooting, I would use Steam's integrity checking tool to verify the game files.

As a single gpu, single screen user, I know not of these game quirks ... :D
xorbe, after my big rant about going single screen, single GPU, I broke down and got a 2nd Titan X so as not to risk the midlife-crisis status of my new build. I figure I can always turn one off :D

I am still a little sour you didn't sell your extra one to me. Did you end up getting more than asking price for it? I know there was a fair bit of interest in it. You put it up right when there was literally zero stock anywhere.

how do you reinstall those redistributables? i uninstalled teh two versions that were installed on the same date as GTA

Getting from time to time error that dx9 device could not be initialized and game crashes to system. Anyone else getting this crash too?

is anyone else having issues with their cars disappearing? im talking about single player.

so i found a zentorno, took it to the body shop and customized it
which cost a lot of money
i then went and bought the grove st garage

i put the zentoro in there, saved my game

i go to play today and want to drive my new favorite car
so i get to my garage and the car is gone...

the money i spent is also gone but i still have the garage..

this is seriously bullshit..
almost makes me not even want to play anymore.

I've lost cars before but that was on the character's garage at home, not on the garages you can buy (at least not yet!)

The missing SP cars has been a feature since the game came out on consoles. I had the same problem when I was playing the game on PS3. It is random and affects purchased cards as well, I just would not bother putting money into any of the "found" cars.

In my experience it is completely random. I had some cars disappear that were jacked and a couple disappear that were purchased from the in game website, and then in some cases I had the same cars in the garage for the whole game. This was all on the PS3 though. I have not bothered purchasing any cars in my PC play through yet, and have maybe one car each in the three characters garages.

So does anyone else experience issues with internet while the launcher is downloading any updates? I'm downloading that recent 360mb update right now and it just KILLS my internet connection. It took me like 15 tries just to get here to make this post. As soon as I pause the download everything's back to normal. Resume, and it goes to shit instantly.

The only time I ever experience this is if I'm using p2p software like torrents and it maxes out my upload, I have to throttle it manually or it does this (yay shitty internet in the boonies.) Does the GTAV updater use P2P or something?

There's your problem. You can't "find" high end cars and save them in your garage. You have to purchase them.

Hmm, while I remember on the PS3 you couldn't save high end cars in Online mode, I don't think I ever came across that in the SP game. At least in GTA:O it gave you an error/warning message telling you so.

I'm a level 4. Whenever i go to the airport or the skydive locations none of the helicopters or planes spawn. Do i need to be a higher level to have them spawn?

I think so. Would make sense if level 1 newbies all went to the airport and go into jets and planes and started fucking shit up on, increasing there rank and cash easily. Just like you need to be level 12 to do online heists.

This happens to my connection anytime I download a large file (normally 5+ GB) . It just sucks down all the bandwidth and no one else can use the connection. That's why I always do my game downloads at night or when no one else is home

Did that to me too. Never seen this happen before, I can torrent like mad and still browse the web (albeit slowly), only GTA launcher kills my net. It actually happened to my buddy too and he has fiber... (I got DSL 6mb and no monthly cap)

I had the same problem on the 360 version with cars, on the old GTA's you would just put your car in the garage and it would always be there.

I tend to just rely on the Vehicle impound, just leave the car and it will end up there costs 250 dollars to release it. I just dont even bother with the garages

Yeah, the garages are my one gripe with the game so far. All I want is a garage where I assign a specific car to a space, and it'll reappear there if I ditch/destroy it, like each character's main vehicle does. How hard could that be? Instead, you have to be totally anal about always parking in the garage just in case you lose it either through neglect, or because the game decides to switch it on you on mission. The impound should be for vehicles you grab which aren't saved in garage spaces. With the 2 vehicle impound limit, which I believe includes any random car you jack, there's not much point upgrading anything other than your primary vehicle.

GTAO gives mission rewards based on time:

http://gta.wikia.com/Missions_in_GTA_Online#Rewards

So if you start a solo session, beat the mission in 1 or 2 minutes (since they're so easy), then wait until the 16-minute mark you can get ~4K RP and $20k as opposed to about 10% of that if you beat them at normal speed. So stupid.

I've been idling all morning doing this, made about 200k so far.

What? I've left my car abandoned and just open the quick access menu and press "Request personal vehicle" and it will teleport the last vehicle you own/drove to your location. I keep all 10 cars in my garage and rarely ever go pick them up, I just call the mechanic to deliver them to me. Also if it blows up you just call insurance and they replace it for a small fee.

*EDIT* Nevermind you were talking about singleplayer. Yeah singleplayer garages are broken and hardly ever work.

By wait do you mean wait to reach a map marker before actually finishing the mission to run the clock?

Yep, I've been doing Gerald's missions exclusively:
Flood in LS River, Gassed Up, Deal Breaker.

After obtaining the coke, drive back to Gerald's and stand next to the yellow marker until you reach 16 minutes, then complete the mission. If you have the Armored Kuruma you can do some of the harder missions since you're basically invulnerable inside the car.

What the hell? That is freakin retarded.
And apparently it wasn't like this in the beginning, they changed it to this as the solution. Double retarded.

anyone running a 970 Strix notice when gta crashes that the GPU fans stop spinning also?
