I couldn't find fuck all I'd want to buy from them. I'm not butthurt or anything I just find it funny I thought this was some sort of goodwill thing they were doing giving away ACDC. NOPE.

Ah, the digital age. Imagine buying a TV from Best Buy and then they try to come to your house to take it back because of a pricing error. I don't think that would go over too well.

Friend of mine just told me about that "sale" when it was going on, but, by the time I got home, I couldn't find it. I'm not sure if it was even posted here. I forgot about it until he just told me he received the same email from them.

"Indian Giver" should be their next title.

there was a brief period when you would have been able to download it (i had chance but i got lazy) and now i can't get it, not like i was interested, i was gonna try it out but hack, no i guess i'll just stick with PoP.

how much was the 'error' price? What is the regular retail price they're asking?

I wouldn't be too upset about it. On the bright side, at least you don't have to give them any money :D

it was free and than after i think 3 days i got email that order was successful, and after 24 hours i got another that it was mistake and they'll offer me 50% off the original price (which is same price i can get somewhere else on discount)

Maybe this was just a test of them revoking licenses and using the general public as guinea pigs.

that's why i always go for physical media atleast i don't have to buy every single game. sharing is caring if you know what i mean.

physical or not, they can still revoke your serial key or block it.

I would agree in todays market physical media is worth about as much as a used banana peel. I have a nice HL2 box with all the discs. Doesn't mean fuck all since my key is tied to steam. Sucks but such is the life of a PC gamer.

I forgot it came on CDs...Mine was on a single disc DVD....but I do remember two versions

well, true if you are careless, but we are not, we know how to work the system, we are not stealing, nor we are doing anything illegal, just old school sharing (no P2P) and if we like something we buy it. (as we've few PoP)

I bought a bunch of games last year from ubisoft for $1 each. There was something going on with the online store and you just changed some characters in the URL and the page would show the price as $1.00. I bought 5 games, 1 was a pre order and that got canceled. I still have the others.

Fucking CD's, HL2 had like 5 or 6 of them reinstalling was a bitch but it was better than downloading at 150KB/s speeds. I believe the Orange Box came on 1 DVD.

Kinda makes you question purchasing software from a company that would disable your software license because of their mistake, especially when generating the actual software key didn't cost them anything.

This should be posted in the News section...

Should have gotten the collector's edition. You got a DVD for installation and a tee shirt.

I was too young at the time to afford nice things. I only vaguely remember playing HL1 and CS on school computers back in the day. Only reason I really bought HL2 was for CSS which I played during the emporio beta leak. My computer nearly imploded trying to run HL2 on High.

So basically the purchaser gets a coupon for 50% off another Ubisoft title instead of the game? I wonder if they offer refunds in this case.. because if they didn't, all they did was sell the customer a 50% off coupon.

Except I'm pretty sure the "pricing mistake" was that the game was free.

It's a sad day when a company that is already hurting in and practically abandoning the PC market, could have taken a scenario like this and spun it off to show how awesome they are by just letting the purchasers keep their digital copies.

Instead they come off as meek by offering a 50% coupon which seems to be quite ineffective for most people. So now they have also lost out on potential customers (even of the cheap variety) and good word of mouth.

The only thing going viral about Ubisoft these days is the incurable case of the stupids that they seem to have caught some where along the line in when it comes to the PC industry.

Now did any of you really think you were going to get the game for free? Seriously now.......

well truth to be told, few did get it and i might have too if i hadn't been lazy, i actually did get it but i was like mah, it's in the account i'll get it leter, and than it was gone, if i had downloaded and registered they couldn't have done anything for it as i didn't enter my credit card number.
