Battlefield 3 General Discussion Thread

Does anyone know of any low ticket Squad Deathmatch servers? I need to get the second Assault unlock, but playing SQDM is just painful. I want to get it over as quickly as possible...
 
Anyone else getting an error saying the authentication servers are down, when trying to login to Origin to play?
 
A few questions:

1. If someone gets real close to you is it worth it to try to knife them? Or should you just shoot?

2. If you are shooting at someone running a fair bit away should you aim ahead of them or at them?

3. Does anyone use shotguns?

1. Only if you are coming up behind them. The knife hitbox is too uncertain otherwise.

2. Aim ahead of them.

3. Yes, the 870MCS is very effective in close-quarters.
 
I quite enjoy the M16A3/MASS 26 combo. M16 for any sort of conflict at range, MASS when going indoors or through any sort of cramped/confined space.
 
ok, origin is down. I thought all my crap got hacked cause I logged into gmail and it says my gmail was access from bermuda, after a little research on that people said they have changed their gmail passwords and still get messages about their account being accessed from other countries. anyway, think I'm ok, lol.

guess no bf3 till ea figures out how to fix something, which could be awhile. I tried joining a server but it never joins.
 
Did they nerfed SOFLAM and Javelin? Recently I didn't hit a single target with 10 last Javelins using SOFLAM. WTF?
 
Any BF3 players find you are better at the game in Eyefinity/Surround vs single monitor or vice-versa?

I was actually doing terrible with eyefinity so I switched back. The performance seemed very sub-par. The [H] review listed it as playable with a config not too dissimilar from mine, but I completely disagree.

If your flying, javalin needs a soflam lock, and those are easily avoided by simply getting out of range. Once its locked and after you, flares, ECM and extreme flying can keep you clear.

If your on the ground, javalin usually gets you.

Nope, before the patch once Javelin is locked and in air it was impossible to get rid of it with Flares and ECM. Has it been changed now?

The only way to get rid of it is to hide behind the building so that rocket hit the building.

Nah, you could always ECM it if done correctly or completely avoid it with certain maneuvers.

Yeah you could, I've done it tons of times in the helicopter. Sometimes it can reacquire lock though. Breaking line of sight to stop the SOFLAM lock doesn't stop the Javelin lock though, which is kind of absurd IMHO.

i am better in eyefinity. feel blind without it now. maybe its placebo. i really like playing with three monitors though even though i have to turn a lot of effects down to get the fps i want.
