Official [H] Star Wars:The Old Republic Thread

They are happening regularly, but they aren't fixing some of the larger ones. Not yet at least.

I meant that they've been posting what will be coming, even on major ones such as texture quality, not whether they're in the game yet or not.

For instance they've been covering the texture issue the past few days which is a big one, including the latest post about roughly when/what will be fixed here: http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?p=1499874#edit1499874

Other topics have similar posts about them. They ARE there, but people would rather just whine "Bioware's saying nothing!" than actually go look for them and see they exist already.

I don't care. I'd rather have them fix current shit at twice the rate than put out more shit that is going to need to be fixed.

Sounds like 'you can't get no satisfaction.' There's not enough to do at 50 and they're not fixing bugs fast enough.

I dunno, I can PVP for hours and be ok with that. Other than that, the leveling process is the most fun part of this time for me. I usually hate it, but it goes by pretty quick and isn't painful as hell in TOR. Rerolling a character comes easily, whereas in some games the negatives outweigh the positives.

Kind of depends what you are calling "fixes." A fix to a game would be a bug fix, or a case where something was broken and now is resolved. You are plastering colorful language for the sake of it without any perspective.

I'm going to assume (dangerous here) and say that you have played MMOs previously. If this is the case, this shouldn't be a discussion. But I'll just point to the latest patch they deployed, alongside the premise of having test realms is a great way of having people test this.

http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?p=1276185 - 1.1

Some notable "fixes"

Anti-aliasing is now available and can be enabled in the preferences menu.
Tooltips for abilities modified by skill points now display correct damage values.
Level 50 players now participate in their own Warzone bracket and will not be matched with lower-level players.

I mean, I guess I can do the job of googling or looking on their forum for you but this is [H]. I would make a dangerous assumption to say that people should be smarter than normal players in gaming/hobbies and that [H] members are example of that.

Don't be a pretentious fool; I've read that forum post several times.

Does it stop the speed hackers? Does it fix the LOS/door issue that results in one person becoming invincible/impossible to win against in the voidstar? Does it fix the shuttle jump early start which lets people plant bombs before the game has even begun in the voidstar? does it fix the "c'mere!" bug in huttball? (pull an enemy with the ball to your ledge for their insta-death), does it fix the backwards knockback in huttball (player coming towards you/the goal, knockback will push them FORWARD instead of backwards)?

I could sit here and list many more things worthy of attention instead of a new flashpoint.

"Don't be a pretentious fool" -- sounds like something a DARK SIDE NPC would say.

Those are all minor bugs/design issues that will be fixed soon enough. We'll survive for a good while with them if need be, I promise.

-Speed hackers are an issue in all MMO's, it's not a bug it's a "scum like to cheat" issue.
-LOS/door issue is already mentioned as a known problem.
-Never heard of the early shuttle jump you mention, on forums or in-game.
-The pull thing isn't a bug, it's by design (mistakenly). Never seen it happen in a game and I'm Valor Rank 50 myself.
-Knockback sounds like a lag issue to me, not a bug... it's simply where the server thinks you and the enemy are in relation to your clients, not bugged just the nature of online games.

New content & bug fixes are not worked on by the same people anyway, so it's a moot point. They've responded to the bulk of the ACTUAL bugs and issues reasonably so far.

MINOR issues?

You must play on some good-hearted-never-do-wrong server or something, but I get this shit in every match.

Voidstar, when you're attacking, you can climb the shuttle in a way and get out of the pen. It's becoming so standard now that I don't consider the first door an objective anymore.

If we're lucky enough that the team couldn't get someone out in time we're usually faced with two other problems: game ends because my team has 5 people, or someone uses the door exploit.

I've seen the pull exploit happen plenty. To the point where people will constantly fire-pit themselves (since there is a count-down to removal) and camp on top of the ledge to prevent anyone from scoring.

I don't see how the knockback is a lag issue. Someone is running directly at you and you perform a knockback while they're standing infront of you, they should be knocked away from you -- not towards you.

and it's not a moot point; I don't want new content, I want the current content to work. I don't think that is at all something obscene or moot to ask for. They have resources divided on two things: necessary things, and at this moment, unnecessary things. I want more of the necessary things.

Don't be a pretentious fool.

Who am I trying to impress? Because I disagree with you and point out the fallacies in your rhetoric? Oh, I'm being pretentious now. I apologize.

This is probably addressing the "jump and land, knocking people back" move that many Inquisitor's and Consular's have. This is actually based on a location where your character lands after he/she jumps and gets ready to "force knock" enemies away. This is most definitely an animation & client/server agreement issue. It is further complicated by the overly complex animation moreso than the server/client agreement.

It isn't obscene other than the language, honestly. It's the method you are going about it. Your post above is the ideal way of a discussion on issues, IMO. That's all. I just questioned your methods.

Seen this particular issue crop up in a number of MMOs. I've never seen it get 100% fixed, with most fixes shifting the problem from one thing to another until they find a compromise that works best. After a while you begin to get used to overly-complex moves (from a technical standpoint) that never work quite right :p

And UI customization.

this, biggest issue imo. the lack of a threat meter and damage meter also pose a huge problem for any sort of endgame pve they hope to have. high end guilds are not going to put up with no benchmarking tools for long.

And UI customization.

The lack of 3rd party mods has been a Godsend, IMHO. WoW was unplayable without a slew of them in the sense that you were absolutely gimped vs. another player if they had some 3rd party stuff that you didn't. Gives a competitive edge, which should not be allowed. I can only agree with UI customization as far as moving and resizing hotbars and UI objects, as well as adding additional hotbars. Beyond that, no thanks.

I absolutely agree with having these, but only if they are implemented by BioWare (and I do think they SHOULD have them)

at work so I am not able to look into this, but...
Has anyone else been able to pick up 4 crew skills?
I was able to on 2 of my characters but not on my bounty hunter. I thought we were limited to three but i guess I could be wrong on that.

It's a bug

you can get 4 crew skills to be showing but the fourth is useless and doesn't work

lol if that's your excuse for failing at wow pvp, don't expect much success elsewhere either... I know plenty of people that didn't use any mods to WoW that had high arena ratings and were good all around players in PvE content as well

There wasn't much that mods added that wasn't already available late in the game of WoW. Meaning all those mods that came before were later implemented by Blizzard because they were so damn good and popular. It also provides a larger community investment if people are developing scripts/mods/programs for a game which helps keep people around and interested beyond just having to add content I think.

I'm surprised Bioware hasn't allowed some sort of customization yet - perhaps it'll come in a couple months.

In other news, is there some sale on Origin right now for SWTOR? Can't check while at work but a friend mentioned something about it and I haven't seen it anywhere else on the web...

Operatives and Scoundrels are sick.

Seeing a scoundrel in action made me think twice about gunslinger

I went scoundrel on my alliance guy because I was like, in your face close combat and a healer spec too? Cool! Then I realized they are super OP. Even at lower levels in pvp, with the right group I can stun a guy and do half his life while my teammates finish him off.

I rolled a Sith Inquisitor with my KoS buddies but I haven't played him much :(

How are they OP?

They blow their load on the first hit -- catch them out of stealth and they're toast.

I mow 'em down all the time when I catch them.

I think they're right where they need to be.

Iirc, it's a left-over element from previous item modification mechanics that were scrapped during development. Don't need to use them.

I know we don't need to use them

I've heard people say modification removal is free when using a table -- does this have any truth?

would make all the duplicate champion's crap I get worthwhile

God, I hope they never implement these things in this game. Wow was a lot more fun when you actually had to be aware of the situation, instead of just looking at threat bars and dps meters. Especially since what will inevitably follow is the same amount of min maxing and gear scoring...

One of the reasons I gave up on wow after my original guild broke up was that other than shooting the shit on ventrilo, there was no fun in raiding anymore, all because of castsequence macros, deadly boss mods, decursive, threatmeters and dps meters.

Just hit level 26 today. To be honest, I'm bored already. Cancelled my recurring subscription, but maybe I'll visit the game again once some more fixes have been implemented. :(

Khan has done nothing but bitch and.moan in every single post. At this point he is just a masochist for sticking with it and is now just bitching for the sake of bitching.

It's like I'm really in the Bioware forums!

You don't have to worry about getting banned for criticizing the game's development (or lack thereof) here.

By the way, is EA still doing the thing where if you get banned from the forums, you lose all your single player EA games too?

Probably

Though they went and took my games away from me through a completely different way. Local steam dev here helped me get 'em back. Damn EA.

I have 2 level 25's and I'm still having a ton of fun. I don't power game or anything...feels like theres still plenty of content left for me to enjoy
