EA Breaks Promise To PS3 Battlefield 3 Owners

Hey, you know that free game EA promised you if you bought the PS3 version of Battlefield 3? Yeah, that didn't happen.

A while ago, EA announced that people buying the PS3 version of Battlefield 3 would get a nice little bonus: a free copy of Battlefield 1943. For those unsure which platform to get the game on, that's one hell of a sweetener, Battlefield 1943 being a great game in its own right. Fast forward to today, though, and PS3 owners picking up Battlefield 3 have found that there's no Battlefield 1943 to be found. It's not on the disc.

Just add it to the long list of broken promises from EA and their generally treating their customers like criminals and I fail to see why anyone at this point would buy BF3.

Honestly it just isn't worth supporting these assholes anymore. That is unless you like paying $60 to a company who just thinks you are an idiot who will buy whatever garbage they push out.
 
I got it with BFBC2 and it's not that great of a game :\

It's a download through the ps store anyway; they gave out codes in the box (or it might have just been tied to my bc2 code, can't remember now) so I wouldn't expect there to be a cd.
 
why should they give it to you what you going to do if they don't they are too big and you are too small to matter ha ha
 
I think everyone should remind EA of this situation everytime they bitch about pirates "stealing" their software.
 
I thought they were in the red after buying pop cap games?

And this is EA we are talking about, they won't give a freebie away for nothing, that will be a purchasable DLC probably, maybe wait for the GOTY/Uber ultimate grilled cheese sandwich version, that will have everything the sheeple initially bought in one nice big bundle.
 
So this means if you bought the PS3 version its O.K. to pirate the game?

Oh well. EA has burned bridges with me way back with the cancellation of UO2 (canceled the sequel because they thought it would hurt subscribers to the original version)

They can, will, and always act in the best interests of the investors. Not the consumers.
 
Who's to say that they have broken their promise?

It may still be coming. As mentioned in this thread, it may be enabled as a free download through the PS3 store using the BF3 code.

Oh I am sure if everyone screams loud enough they will do so reluctantly. However believing that EA will do anything in the interest of their customers at this point is laughable. Not including it isn't an "oops" it got left out by mistake, it was a calculated risk to see if people actually cared to save money. If not they ignore the few people upset and save the money, if so they "claim" it was an honest mistake and most of the idiots will buy that excuse.

Agree with the first part about EA...

But EA are just the publishers, DICE can't be considered assholes, they've put a lot of work into making a true PC game, BF3 certainly isn't garbage either.

Pretty graphics do not a Good game make.

Weapon balance is a joke
Vehicles handle like crap
Aircraft are laughable
Flares are an unlock? Really? that is one of the most retarded idea's ever implemented into a shooter.

TL:DR - The game is a hot mess of terrible balance and completely (Again) ignores the competition community who actually know what good balance is. It isn't competition worthy and won't ever be thanks to their stance that the modding community isn't capable of learning an advanced engine, the same community that did things with BF1942 that they never thought possible. So yea, I am pretty irked at DICE as well for shitting all over the competition and modding communities who actually drive the life of the game and writing us off as insignificant.

So BF3 is just another single player shooter with pretty graphics and a half assed multiplayer tacked on that is balanced around retarded unlocks and achievements. No Thank You.
 
Nothing will change.

Most people will forget all about this when the next shiny new game comes along.

Fuck DICE, PC guys never even got 1943. They lied their asses off about that. "The PC version of 1943 will be superior" "We need a little more time on the PC version, we're giving it extra attention that PC fans deserve!" "Sorry, no 1943 for PC"

BFBC2 started out with some imbalance and they tweaked it, I remember the M60 being terribly overpowered. When you make something this complex here will be tweaks, it was just released.

Some weapons and vehicles should be imbalanced in certain situations. If you're in a chopper or a tank you should be expecting to be able to rack up kills easily, provided you are good. I like the unlocks, makes you try out all the weapons. I can't remember if 1942 had unlocks, but all the battlefields since then have them. It's better implemented than BF2. I played that for years and I never managed to unlock everything.

I do agree about the modding, though I never got the project reality mod to work. (endless fcking patches with BF2) it did seem quite cool.

With a little luck, EA will begin to alienate console folks the way they've done with PC gamers.

We can only hope.

meh, it was probably the same as 1942. I got Bad company 1 on the xbox and bad company 2 on the PC, apart from the singleplayer they were virtually the same.

That would have been great though! I loved 42 and was looking forward to 43 with the new engine...
 
Who else other than DICE is working on pushing PC graphics to the limits?

Please let me know, I'm sick of playing PC games that look no different to what I could play on my xbox before it broke.

If DICE are such assholes according to some of you guys then there really is no future for PC gaming....

I've played MOH, Modern warfare. All of them suck in multiplayer, single player is good but it is over in about 8 hours. All the battlefield series I just keep going back to...

Maybe you just suck at multiplayer?

This particular part of your post really reeks of sounding like someone who hasn't even played the game. Saying this is just SP with MP "tacked on" is simply absurd. It's clear to anyone that's played that MP was the primary focus here, although SP is also very good.

Sure, there are balance issues on release, as there have been with virtually every online shooter EVER, but on the whole I think it's better than the vast majority of online shooters out there, especially since it was just released ONE DAY ago.

You seriously expected a DICE and/or a Battlefield game to be good for competition?
 
Battlefield is a dick around game. Always has been and always will be
 
The battlefield series has had balance issues with every release. They do fix those problems and end up with a solid game.

Some people want perfection out of the box. That just doesn't happen today.

EA sucks, everyone knows this.

Too true. Although EA won't do the right thing, they are the worst publisher. they royally screwed over Westwood and screwed up the greatest game ever made (Command and conquer series).

I do hate EA. But BF3 is awesome. And if you don't like it, you will be happy playing MW3
 
I'd put money on most of the people in this thread complaining about how bad the game is haven't even played it.

And lol at complaints that the game isn't good for "competition" and that "competition players" know how to balance a game better than the devs. Great, so stop complaining, quit playing an FPS for 6 hours a day and go start a gaming company.

Normally i would agree with you, but this is actually a valid complaint here. Company said if you pay us X amount of money we will give you Y for it. After you pay X amount of money they change their mind and give you something else instead. Yes they are giving you a free game, but that fact is that they were going to give it to you if you bought their product then after getting you to buy it informed you that they were just screwing with you and you aren't getting that free game, that was just a ploy to get you to buy the game for the PS3.
