Portal 2 Best Buy PS3/360 - $45, PC $35

Got the Xbox version as a gift for somebody and I'm going to use the $20 to get the PC version if the game turns out to be great.

B: Portal 2 is a full length game with multiplayer/co-op.
What makes you think it is an add-on?

amazon + prime shipping = win. Glad I didn't preorder on steam. Can't wait to get a disc just to throw it away!
 
Bought! I don't ever play fps but I bought the orange box for portal only. I'd get it on 360 version since I prefer to game on it but I have a feeling it will look like crap and ends up costing more (don't really want amazon cash).

Edit: So the multiplayer is like kill each other with portals (for real not just messing around) or just solve puzzles together?

yikes i cant imagine playing portal with a controller.
as far as i know the muliplayer is going to be co-op

I didn't see a whole bus, but it you drive on the FL Turnpike from North Miami to Ft. Lauderdale, there are Portal 2 billboards everywhere.
There's heavy marketing here in South Florida, non gamers may think it's a movie.

It shows how deep Valves pockets are, atleast $10M+ of advertising in South Florida alone.

Was browsing RZ Gamers Club, saw the 500 RZ points(worth $10 store credit) offer with preorder of Portal 2. I clicked to purchase, and a $10 GC was thrown in free when I checked out.

So, preordering Portal 2 @BB today cost me $38. I also get:

- $10 promo GC
- $10 worth of RZ points.

Very [H]ot indeed! :D
 
Thanks for the heads up, LowRoller. Cancelled my first and started a new one to get the 10$ GC. Too bad it has to be mailed whereas I am picking the game up in store.

I signed up for the Gamer's reward zone but it only mentions the 500 points if you spend $150 on games. Clicking on Portal 2 from the reward zone home page doesn't show any offer for 500 points only the $10 gc.

If you go to the bestbuy site and search "portal 2" you should see a banner at the top advertising the 500 reward zone points for pre-ordering. Make sure you go to the rewardzone website and sign up for the gamer's club if you haven't (I have no idea if you really have to do this, but why not do it anyway before ordering).

You do. It's an opt-in only program.
 
Finally found something to use my Amazon GC I had laying around. $15 for a new release is just awesome. Can't wait to play. :)

It won't show up there at checkout.

If you're an RZ member and GC, bonus points get added after the fact directly to your RZ account. It won't show up in your RZ purchases until you go to the store and pick up your game.(or its shipped to you, whatever you chose) Make sure you type in your RZ account # at checkout in the space provided, if you haven't already linked your BestBuy.com account with your RZ #.

At that point, your purchase "completed" and your points are awarded.(it may take a couple days to show up in your RZ portal) After that your points will likely be marked as "pending," meaning you won't be able to purchase anything with those points for about 30 days. Once you're past the return window, the "pending" label is dropped and your points are useable.
 
I got the bestbuy gift card and I signed up for rewards zone but I have no idea if the rewards zone points worked?

If your BestBuy.com account wasn't linked with your RZ account prior to purchase, you'll likely have to go through the process of adding your purchase to RZ account manually.

Just hang onto your receipt/invoice and you should be able to add it within a couple days after your purchase is completed.(after pickup or it ships)

I linked it before, so it will show up when I pick up the game at the store?
 
Nice, thanks for the update on the Best Buy deal. I cancelled my Amazon pre-order and went with Best Buy instead. I logged in to my Reward Zone account and went under "Offers and promotions" - there was a link to the Portal 2 promo there. It said you could click through there to get to Best Buy's website and be eligible for the offer.

I wish their checkout process confirmed it along the way though. It would be nice if they had a message that said "Congratulations! You'll earn $10 in reward zone points with this purchase" or something along those lines. At least mine didn't say anything like that - hope I didn't miss something somewhere :)
 
Nah you did everything correctly. Game ends up being $37.88 out of pocket after tax, but I get a $10 gift card mailed to me and another $10 through the rewards zone. Can't beat Portal 2 for $17.88 on release.
 
When I added Portal 2, it showed up in the cart along with a gift card for $10. I did this about 30 mins ago.

Now when I actually order, it only shows Portal 2. What gives?

i canceled with amazon, so i could go with BB.

went to check out at BB and it says i can no longer pick up at any of hte local stores. shit.

fine, back to amazon.

no more release day delivery on amazon...

fuck.

well, this is surprising, amazon has live support staff on a sunday night. apparently the order page as glitched for the pc version, and theyre working on it now. i have till 5pm PST tomorrow to reorder the game with release day delivery.

Yea. The $10 is by snail mail.
Also, if you read the website, and the referenced banner above, it's simply an advertisement for the Gamer's club in which every $150 you spend gets you $10 in rewardzone points.
