Its High Noon! Red Dead Redemption released

^

HAHA! I did the same thing except I didn't get down to just 1v1 there was still another person in. But I called all in, and I had a full house sure to win, he had something else ( i can't remember) took all my chips.

I didn't get mad, I stood up pulled out my lasso. Lasso'd him and drug him outside up the stairs to the top of the saloon making his head hit every stair. Then I threw him over the railings and he died.

LOL, yet another example of how great this game is.

Am I the only one who thinks the controls for this game suck. They are so bad they ruin my enjoyment of this game. I just picked it up earlier today and feel I wasted $60.

Some missions I've failed because my horse couldn't turn around. I lassoed a bounty target I had chased all over the f*cking place only to get stuck on my horse when I dismounted to hogtie him. I've only been playing for a couple of hours but I don't even want to continue. Crackdown has better controls despite being a couple years older. Rockstar's current engine needs to die. It looks great but the controls are unacceptable to me.

I'm really disappointed because the graphics are amazing, plus I love the setting and story.

I've had some trouble with getting my horse to turn too, but it's a fucking horse, lol. I get by. Otherwise everything is excellent I feel.

That bad huh? The controls feel fine to me. Yesterday with my buddies we were speaking very highly of how the animations and controls of the horse look and feel great. I am no professional but I don't think horses can turn or stop on a dime while going so fast. Spins and sharp turns, yes...but, to each his own I guess. That really shouldn't discourage ya from playing such a great game!

I got in a gun fight while riding my horse. I ended up accidentally shooting my horse in the back of the head. Funny shit!

I turned the sensitivity all the way up and it helped. Im playing with the aiming mode set to expert. Maybe my expectactions are just too high.

It's not a complete waste, it's coming around on me just due to story and environment. I do find myself having to retry missions that don't seem difficult, I just get hung up on things or I don't take cover.

Does anyone else hate the dead eye mechanic that adds the marking of targets? I find it absolutely terrible that it just auto marks the target when you over over it. So lets say you want to shot the guys gun, and then his head. In the process of trying to do that you'll end up selecting at least 4 different marks. Complete waste. Very disappointed. Why not just hit the trigger or some other button to mark the target?

I really like this game, but it randomly locks up on me when I get to duel someone.

The single player is a trip. I was riding around when some guy called me over asking for a ride. When he got close he horse jacked me! I hit the Dead Eye and shot him in the back.

Are people using the ability to lock onto enemy players when playing multiplayer? I can't hit shit and it's hard as hell to actually make out other players at night time.

The dead eye has 3 levels. When you hit level 3 you can only mark targets with the right shoulder button (on 360). Personally i found the automatic marking great for shooting people hidden behind bushes.

i saved the prostitute outside the bar when a dude was trying to kill her. I also ran into a dude who wanted me to ''convince'' an old man to sell his ranch.

This game is great... more engaging than GTA4 was for me.

Anyone else have a hell of a time fighting off dogs and shit that get up close to you? I swear my shoot button just decides to stop working.

How do I know what level I'm on? Why isn't there a way to toggle it? Probably my only gripe so far.

Anyone get the suit from Thieves Landing that lets you cheat at poker? I bought it, put it on and tried to join a poker game in Armadillo. It wouldn't work. I couldn't actually play. My guy would sit down, but it wouldn't move past that. I could quit the game by hitting O, but that's it.

If you have been reading this thread like me and haven't bought yet, Newegg has the game on sale for $49.99 with free shipping. No taxes for me and free shipping means I am in. Hope this helps you convince your friends to pick it up as well.

PS3 Version

360 Version

Argh auto aim or Normal aiming mode on multiplayer really sucks balls. I mean you can already see where the person is on radar, so basically just aim in that direction with L2 and BAM you are already locked onto the sucker. I HATE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Other then that I love this game, but multiplayer is frusterating when everyone has autoaim. Its not even fun...

I thought people said that certain modes like hardcore or something have it on Expert? Also I heard that if you just walk, you don't appear on the radar, just when you run or something.

Not sure as I haven't done multi yet.

^

Well you can turn your aiming on expert, but everyone else still has normal aka autoaim on.

I haven't unlocked hardcore or veteran yet, but even when I do it only has hardcore/veteran gang matches and free for all. theres no hardcore free roam, so basically free roam will always have auto aimers... :(

Almost beat the AI at Texas Hold 'em last night at Armadillo... went down to 1 vs 1, but not the chip leader.

My hand was a pair of Queens. I was small blind, called 6. AI raised, I called.

Flop was: Queen, 4, 4

I raised, AI re-raised me to all in, I call.

The turn was: a Jack

The river was: another 4...

I show a full house: Queens full of 4's.

AI shows a four of a kind: 4's.

Game ends, I whip out my repeater and blast the guy in the face.

I forgot to mention the AIs hand was a J and a 4. So he got the 4 of a kind on the river.

if there are 3 fours on the board and the last came on the river, it goes without saying that he made it on the river. ;)

sounds like some AI hax to me
meh this like the only game thats came out since my 360 RROD'd that makes me actually miss it working

Back to report the controls no longer ruin my enjoyment. I turned the aiming mode to casual and now I actually feel like a gunslinger. I hate that it took changing the aiming mode to the easiest level but at least I'm having fun now.

I have been able to win straight up in poker in Armadillo and at MacFarlane's Ranch. Five-Finger fillet is pretty easy if you have any rhythm. Those stupid horseshoes are what took me a while.

I had some issues with my DLC code for the golden guns pack. I contacted Amazon and they sent me a new code, but the previous code ended up working again. Weird. Now, I have an extra Golden Guns DLC code. If anybody wants to trade for the war house mount DLC code contact me.

I am enjoying this game so far. Poker is fun, I always shut people down in it and make then leave cause they lose all their chips :D. Those lil optional missions sometimes get in the way, but they're mostly cool because it adds a dynamic into the game. As for the main missions and some of the more important side missions, they are spot on. They get my attention really well and I enjoy them a lot.

I got a problem though, it's the mission American Appetites. I got the point where I spoke to the lady that was actually in the sherriffs office. Marston guessed that her husband was in the mountains and she was like "how did you know!?" then sent me back to the hanging rock area to investigate. When I got there, there was a dude already there and was about to pull out his gun and Marston was like "oh no..." and with my quick reaction I busted out the lasso and hog tied the guy, put him on my horse and proceeded back to Armadillo. This is where things get messy, there is no way point anywhere or any instructions telling me what to do with this guy. When I looked in my journal it said the mission was FAILED but under the check list nothing was checked off or crossed out. So I leave the sherriffs office with the guy prop him back up on my horse then all of sudden the guy disappears. So I load up my farthest back save but nope the guy isn't there anymore, the mission doesn't say it "FAILED" and nothing on the checklist is crossed or checked off, also there's no purple dot to look for. WTF IS GOIN ON?

Five-Finger is very easy for me. Just get ~12 evenly spaced button presses per second on the $100 difficulty and you are good to go, assuming you are good at Simon type games. Just memorize the pattern and bang it out; it's an easy $100.

I'm really enjoying this game. Not very often do we get a western game, and even less often is it so good and captivating.

you do that mission 3 or so times until you actually catch the cannibal.

my honor went really high and now anytime i goto thieves landing, EVERYone opens fire on me. I go and rack up 30-50 kills in a go, loot all bodies and take all guns for ammo.

I think it's bugged. depending on how you try to enter the game. I got it working last night, but then it bugged out on me. They kept catching me cheating and we went to duel. I beat them everytime.

First time I killed a nobody. Second time I only shot the gun out of the guys hand. he was actually the General Store owner in Armadillo. I didn't intentionally try to shoot the gun from his hand, but that's what happened. I'm curious to see what would've happened if he died. Probably just respawn later.

I was in Thieves landing and I think I tried to save some whore from this guy. I killed him but she died too. Then moments later I started being fired upon from the saloon. Guys were shooting at me from inside the place, through the windows. It was awesome. I killed them all eventually. But I got some negative honor. Not sure why.

Did you see the dead guy outside the door with the "Cheater" banner on him?

Beta, just give it some time in game and the purple question mark will come back.

This was the solution. I just reloaded my game after taking a break and the purple dot and the guy was there again when I started the game back up. I thought my problem before was a bug. It still took me a few tries to proceed with the mission because, if I approached him too quickly the mission would end in failure. I had to crouch and sneak behind him while approaching him until he says his leg was broken and needed help then I was free to make myself present.

I just did the first part of the American Appitites mission, and after I found the body in the hills, I went back to Armadillo to find the lady wasn't there anymore. Do I just need to wait a while or something?

Edit: I also got some negative honor for shooting some bastard that tried to hijack my horse lol....wtf was I supposed to do? I wasn't just letting the dude ride off with my horse!

Go to your journal, look at "strangers" and look at the mission status, it should say "inactive".

I agree though, the game is pretty sensitive about your actions sometimes. I've been invited to sit down at campsites and listen to the passerby's stories. When I am done listening and get up to leave those idiots start shooting at me like I stole something, or they're trying to steal something from me. When I shoot and kill them, I get a -50 honor.

the bandanna really comes in handy, keeps you from gaining or loosing honor in questionable situations.

I finally caved to the hype surrounding this game and I must say that it definitely lives up to it. It really does feel like a wild western themed GTA.

The other night I was just screwing around in singleplayer and came up behind two people riding horseback. Suddenly, one of the guys stopped, got off his horse, and ran toward the nearest bush he could find just to take a leak. I literally LOL'd.

or spotting someone off the trail, go to investigate and its a dead man with his widow weeping beside him, she then picks up a revolver and shoots herself in the head.

Its like GTA, but doesnt try to be silly at all. Its humor is smart and witty but RDR doesnt commit the crime that GTA does by making every scene from a movie.

Went after a bounty, lassoed him and threw him on the back of my horse. His gang started to chase me down, as they closed in I gave my horse a little extra to make it around the corner. As I made the corner there was a cliff, luckily my stallion has a desire to live and saved all three of us. I knew I was not able to out run them, so I decide to stand and fight, as the three bandits made the corner, I shot them and watched them and their horses fly off of the cliff.

Its not the bullet, nor the fall that they need to worry about, it is the sudden stop at the end.

Last night I was doing a bounty mission, captured the bounty put him on my horse and made the ride back to armadillo to turn in. As you know they started chasing me during the ride back, as they got closer I hit dead eye and aimed at the pursuers. One guy didn't get so lucky as I accidentally shot his horses' head and its rider lol flllewww the fuck over the horses' body and got trampled by his partner's horse.

I love this game.

So somebody has to ask the question. When is there going to be a PS3 [H] Posse. :D .. or X360.
