Windows 7 Pro - Full $29.99 for students Ends 1/05/10

but it says Ultimate. lol. there are plenty of morons out there that pay out the ass to get Ultimate editions of Vista and now 7 even though they have zero need for its extra features.

would it impress anybody to know that I have win7 Notepad edition Beta ... version '11' :D

j/k

I got my copy on Friday. It was actually kind of funny. Since it had been a week and I never got an e-mail, I was going to give Microsoft a call after work. But right as I was heading out the door, UPS came with it.

Thanks OP. Now I'm just waiting to see if I get a SSD for Christmas or if I'll have to buy one myself.

I hope this has not been asked and addressed already. I bought the Win7 Pro 64 upgrade from this deal about a month ago. I did not get the physical discs since I made my own ISO with 3 files that you download. Well now I kinda want the real one(s). Can I buy them for the extra $11, even though I already paid and downloaded a month ago?

I think resale is against the terms. It is a license for the registered student who purchased it.

Well, I settled for one copy of Home Premium to give as a gift. Wanted Professional for myself, but they said it was out of stock. How can MS be out of stock of their own OS??? 2 week wait!

SO whats this extra disc they are sending me that i paid $13 for? From what i gather you need this to do a clean install?

I know most people can find this info, but if anyone needs help with RE-ARMing WINDOWS 7 via registry/CMD, PM me. Its the only way I got my "upgrade" key to work on a fresh install (single install).

erm... I purchased, downloaded and was updating Vista... then it asked for the product code which I copy/pasted off the website after I finished the purchase and it said it was INVALID

wtf? :(

Can someone confirm that the Digital Rivers key can be used again when re-installing windows 7 after a clean hd wipe?

The keys from MSDNA are ONE TIME only, so when I got a new harddrive, keys don't work anymore.

That is why you should just call and order over the phone. I did and not only did I receive a full version with both 32 and 64 bit discs, but also it was at my doorstep quicker than the download would take on my DSL line (even though they messed up my address, kudos to UPS), and I don't have to worry about upgrading, re-arming and what-not !

I recommend that anyone who has not yet purchased call the number in the first post of the thread and order with a real person. Very quick and painless !

Now on to build an i7 rig...

PS. I am not sure how it works with Win 7, but the guy told me each copy can be installed only on one computer. With XP and Vista it was enough to call and request a remote activation over the phone to get more machines running. Anyone know how Win 7 is ?

you can install the retail version as many times as you want and on as many comps as you want. you just cant have it installed on more than one machine at a time.

Got mine today, thanks :D

Apparently, Professional IS back in stock. Got the full 64 bit edition... I wanted them shipped though, but I was informed they are no longer shipping Professional, but I guess Home Premium still gets discs sent, free shipping is still going on as well.. :\

Came to $32.40 total.

is this deal still going? i dont want to sound like a douche if i call later or tomorrow and they have been done for a while. any tips for making the process go smoother?

It'll probably be here forever.

I remember when the "Ultimate Steal" deal had and expiration date of 2008 back then, and its still going on now.

Just call them, when you get to a rep, just say, "Hi, I would like to purchase windows 7 with my student discount" Then they'll ask for your name and phone number and EDU email address.

earlier in the thread people were talking about some of the representatives offer the full version while others will only offer the upgrade version, any way to go about this?

The guy I talked to, gave me options of upgrade or full. They were out of pro, so I took home premium full. They did had pro for upgrade only.

so can anybody confirm that you can purchase more than 1 copy. I got mine a few months back but now I would like another copy for a different computer.

You must have one hell of a slow DSL line (or actually live inside the UPS hub they ship from), because I downloaded the ISO in just a few hours.

For those who are wondering, you can do a full installation with the burned ISO for Windows 7 x64, but the EXE file only lets you do an upgrade. So be sure to download the ISO file and burn it. I actually ordered the media for the extra $12 or so, and that order ended up being refunded on my bank statement for some reason and $29.99 being charged in its place, so I don't think I'm going to be getting the media. I went ahead, burned the ISO, and installed on a new HDD, and now I think I'll just keep the money instead.

Only if you have more than one student email address (i.e. myself and my wife both are in school).

At the risk of sounding like an jerk, everyone need to understand this deal is not about outfitting your entire home/family/dorm/planet with Windows 7 at $30 a pop. This is to help students who may or may not have the financial resources to pay full retail price. To put it another way, Microsoft is betting you are less likely to pirate their new OS if they give you a chance to buy it cheap. However, their "generosity" does have limits (please note the quotes for sarcasm). One student email address=one copy of Windows 7 and one copy of Windows 7=one PC. mmmkay?

So what about the deal on Office 2007 Ultimate for $60? That's a $600 piece of software if you buy it retail.

I'm about to pull the trigger on both.

That's right, $30 bucks is better than no bucks. Hell, it cost enough just putting them them school. Anything like this helps out alot.

I ordered 1 of my kids a copy now it's time to order the my other one a copy. Finally got her collage email addy.

I took advantage of the Office Ultimate deal last year..downloaded to the computer along with the key. It's been working fine..excellent deal especially if your computer didn't come with Office. Regarding Windows 7..I called and ordered pro using the same .edu address. Total cost was 29 bucks and change..they shipped quickly and I recieved a retail box with the 32 and 64 bit editions. Great deals!

Thanks for pointing out some info I should have included in my last post. You can use the same email address for the Office Ultimate Steal and the Windows 7 offer. Also, with the copy of Office provided you can install it on one desktop and one laptop at the same time, but that only applies to the Office software and not Windows 7.

I found the other thread before I saw this one. Anyways, for those who couldn't Pro Full, I just ordered and they had it in stock. Better hurry before it ends.

Just ordered my Win 7 Pro Full tonight it only took about 5 min to get someone on the phone total came to about $31.

called the number, asked if i could get the full version instead of upgrade since i dont have a previous OS. The gentleman on the phone said no problem. Also asked to get pro since i might need to connect to domains. The gentleman on the phone said no problem. Asked if i could get both 64bit and 32bit versions shipped. The gentleman said no problem, and told me all of this is still for the same price, which total came out to 32bucks shipped.

Awesome!
I asked him if these were just regular retail copies of win7 pro full, and he said yes. Will wait for them to arrive and see.

edit: recieved my windows 7 pro on 1//4/10. Full retail version. Same thing you find in the store. Not the upgrade. Nice

well the title of the thread is Full Windows 7 Pro for $29.99 for students so what did you expect? other than that it is pretty common knowledge that Windows 7 comes with both 32 and 64bit version in the box.

I guess i was expecting to post in this thead on my current experience with this deal.

For me it didn't seem common knowledge that this is a regular retail version that they're selling, which includes 32 and 64. I thought they might be giving some special "student" version, with only one disc.

Just got off the phone with them. Have Windows 7 Pro on the way :D

Came out to $32 shipped with tax. Thanks guys.

Anybody bother asking them for discount on Windows 7 Ultimate full?

Would be nice to pick that up for around $30.

I told my sister about this deal, and somehow she got talked into getting the Win 7 Ultimate edition, it came out to $100.

She works on a Dell laptop and couldn't tell RAM from her Hard Drive, so she had no need for the Ultimate Edition, much less the Pro. I should've just baby sat her through the phone call.
