Do you remember your first graphics card?

First one I bought as an upgrade seperately was the Voodoo 3, to replace an ATI Rage 8mb card which sucked, before that I was an amiga gamer.

After that i've gone through allot of cards

Voodoo 5 5500
Geforce 2 MX
Geforce 2 GTS
Geforce 3 Classic
R8500
Geforce 4 Ti4600
R9700Pro
R9800Pro
6800GT
7800GTX
7900GT
X1900XTX
Geforce 7950GX2
8800GTX
8800GT
> Soon to add the GTX280

you may think allot of pointless changes there but I maintain two systems and I tend to just go where the performance is. :D

Think the first one i had was in my XT CGA 4 colors.,, after that I moved up to a 16 bit Orchid xvga I paid about 350$ for. It didnt work in my 8 bit computer like they said it would and only worked in text mode. I then got a killer 16 mhz 268 Harris with two meg of ram and I was cookin.. :p

IBM PS/1 Expert - 16mb ram / intel 486dx 83mhz overdrive / etherjet express 10base2 ISA / Sound Blaster 16 ISA / trident 2mb svga & voodoo 1 4mb.

my old school lan system for warcraft and doom2 the voodoo was the last addon before upgrading to a pentium based system .

First video card was like a Diamond Stealth 4mb card 2d card. I had to buy a Voodoo 1 for my 3d and it had an external dongle to connect the 2 together. It was the most bad ass thing in the world playing Tomb Raider 1 in real 3d!!!!!

That was in a Cyrix 166mhz comp with 32mb ram and like a 1.6gb HDD. I wanted 64mb of ram but the guy who built it said I would never need more than 32mb of ram.

My fist quality card was a Voodoo 1 2MB,
I think that my fiirst video card ever was a Trident.

Was just looking through my closet and found a Diamond Edge 3D card, PCI and based on the NV1 chip, Nvidia's first gpu!!! it also has ethernet and sound.

my first pc build had a MSI TI4600 8X AGP, got the graphics card and a 15" DVI LCD for $300+SH from geeks.com... it was a deal then....

now....eVGA 8800GTS G92, StarLogic 24" p-mva panel DVI LCD :-D

Same here. The ATI Rage 8mb didn't cut it for Half-Life. I think my voodoo 3 was 16mb

ATI Rage 8mb
Voodoo3
? -Forget
FX5200
x800SE
X800XT
X2600XT - current but waiting for 8800GT prices to drop even further this summer or maybe I'll win one at a lan

Don't remember the exact card I had. It was an oddball S3 card in my Athlon 500 system. Drivers were difficult to find and I couldn't play anything on Windows 2K, had to downgrade back to 98 SE and use some beta drivers.

FIrst graphic card was a 4meg Trident PCI card
First 3d card was a Diamond Rage Pro. I remember loading up Jedi Knight after getting it and being WOW'd beyond belief

First card that wasn't an on-board one was probably some Trident or Matrox 4 megger.

First add-on video card was the 3dfx voodoo. What was that, $200 for 4 mb of video ram?

First 2d/3d combo card was the Voodoo Banshee. I think most of my Everquest years were run using that card.

Intel i740. At least I could play Quake 1 back then. My first real 3d card was a Riva TNT and later on I bought a second-hand Voodoo 1 for Glide games.

My first graphics card was an ISA bus CGA card on a 286 12mhz pc. 4 colors baby @ 320x240 resolution. I could crank it up to 640x480 if I wanted to drop down to monochrome.

I skipped past the EGA card and went right for an ISA VGA card with 512k ram. Good stuff, now I could play those new sierra games that were coming out with 256 colors.

Next PC I used an STB velocity 4400 AGP card with 4mb ram. When the monster3D came out I popped that in there with the VGA passthrough cable. Got the GLQuake goin!

Man, all these hardcore high spec graphics cards and PCs....

My first was a 16k CGA card in an Amstrad PC1512. Mine was a deluxe model, with 128k RAM expansion to bring the total to 640k (maximum supported by DOS 3.2), 5.25" floppy drive (300k/disk) and 20MB HDD. The CPU was a blisteringly fast 8MHz (0.008GHz) 8086.

First card was a Diamond Stealth something or other that came in a Micron computer I bought. Soon after that, replaced it with a 3dfx VooDoo Rush card (6 meg monster!!!) that was soon paired up with a Monster3D for some sweet, sweet GLQuaking. List just gets crazy from there........ LOL

My first graphics card was the Canopus Pure3D II with it's awesome pass through cable to my 2D only Trident 1 MB. Heck you could even SLI it back in the day!

GLquake FTW.

GLquake FTW indeed. My brother got a 3dfx 3d-accelerator with passthrough cable just for that game :) . He's played quake ever since, there's no game quite like it. No game has the speed, maneuverability, feel and map control that it has :)

Voodoo 3DFX 5500, paid the 300 bones for it and 4 months later it was garbage, thanks to Nvidia. O well, the SLI is an old 3DFX product that they brought back to life.

My first card(s) were 2 8Meg Diamond VooDoo2 cards in SLI.

That's Scan Line Interleave for you pre Nvidia Scalable Link Interface folks. :)

They were a hit on my wallet at the time... I wanted the 12 Meg cards, but I was making 8 bucks an hour..... lol

My first graphics card that wasn't on board was a Geforce 4 MX 440... then I upgraded to a 9700pro after a few months when I finally realized that MOH:AA was running like shit on even medium... wow those were the days.. Funny how people say PC stuff is getting more pricey....I had a 1000 dollar rig that was good for its day...and it still cost around 1000 to make a high end rig now... hmph, go figure

Matrox G200 to go with my P2B Asus mobo and P2 350 and 128 megs ram and 10GB hdd .. playing Tomb Raider ..good times

My first video card was a voodoo1 4MB addon card that ran attached to a 2d Matrox video card I had. I bought for 50 bucks from a co-worker who then also installed it for me. I believe the PC was a pentium1 233Mhz with 128MB of ram at the time.

my favorite thing about the card was the 3dfx screensaver app that allowed you to create your own tripped out 3D screensavor from like 200+ preset functions/designs

My first real 3D accelerator was a 3DFX Voodoo Banshee 16MB. Awesome card for the time, played Q3 nicely.
