Age of Conan

AoC will be THE game for me this year. I have been following it for a long time and I can't wait to play. Might as well uninstall everything else.......lol
 
I got into the AoC beta on the initial invitations I believe, months ago. Just ignored it and never tried it out for some reason. I deleted the email, if someone knows of a way of getting the key back I will hand it out here.
 
Got a key, downloading the install now. Looks like the beta is only for 3 hours on sunday.
 
I just received a technical test invite as well. Oh well, at least I'll get to see it for a few hours :p and help them at the same time! Maybe it will let me play right now if I'm lucky.

Thinking seriously of grabbing this as my next MMO.
 
Got my key earlier today. Installing the game now but can't play until Sunday which sucks. Least patching will be done at least. :D

I would say go for it. The first levels are designed to help you to learn the controls and how things work so I don't think you should have much trouble getting the hang of it. ;)
 
Been following this game for a long time now. I signed up for the beta but didn't get in

I was a huge fan of Anarchy Online and I would like to see how Age of Conan turns out.
 
great system to run it and plenty of time to play, but didnt get picked, not sure what criteria they went by in choosing, only thing I can think of is LOTS and LOTS signed up and I simply didnt make the cut.

from what ive read they have gotten rid of the timesink type quest thats so familiar and the combat system is more interactive eg: read you can attack enemy from 3spots, left or right side or above.(above? flying mount?)

anyways lets hope for the best and see what the future holds.

I havent heard any talk of flying mounts but the horse, mamoth, and rhino mounts are certainly in at release according to the developers. I hope quests wont be too long and convoluted. Its going to be a long grind to level 80 as it is I fear.
 
A relative of mine also signed up at the same time as me but wasn't picked, even though the specs of the systems were nearly-identical. Supposedly you have a better chance of getting into the full General Beta if you're a Tech tester, than everyone else, per comments I have seen on the normal forums.
 
Once I get a new computer Ill definately try this one out. At the moment my comp is struggling to run Warcraft :D.. High tech indeed

Maybe, it looks like it's getting better. And the optimization to the graphics they have been making are promising. I got into a technical beta this weekend, but I'm going to be busy the exact hours it's running =(

questions:

does aoc have dynamic weather effects?

is the enviroment fully or some parts destructable ie can me and bunch of mates destroy a bunch of trees or a builing of some sort?
 
Technical beta got postponed till the 13th. Gives me time to work on my papers now lol.

I guess this would partly to do with short notice. I'm guessing if it's a stress test type thing they want as many people as possible, but many folks may not have seen the mail until friday night, and MMO clients being such big files, that may not have been long enough for people to actually grab the files.
 
i'm really hoping that this game will turn out well... I already pre-ordered this game (way back in january, when the release date was set to march, lol), and i can't wait to get the 3 day 'head start' that pre order people are gonna be getting.

I also applied for the beta together with my friend, and he got into the technical beta, but not me (lucky bastard).
 
I stopped getting my hopes up a whole ago for MMOs. First one was SWG. This was going to be MY game but after I played it (in beta) I thought it was crap. Then Vanguard was supposed to be the prodigal son of MMOs and well... yeah. We all know how that one turned out.
 
when does this game come out? I use to play WoW and miss playing a mmo but I'm not going back to WoW unless its still huge like it is now in a year or two.
 
Official launch is May 20th but if you pre-order and get the early play feature you can download the game May 14th from a special site (not yet named as far as I know) and start playing May 17th three days before the official launch of may 20th. Thats the general gist of it I think. Eidos and FunCom have more detailed info about it on their sites.
 
I preorder AOC, cant wait to play this.
I tried to get in the beta twice and never got in.

Ive heard that FC has been pushing out A LOT of huge patches as of recent that have been really optimizing the game.
 
I enjoyed the opportunity to test it very much today. Can't say more :( unfortunately.

He's under NDA, so can't really say. :)

But the idea of any single game coming out over the next year or two, stealing enough accounts from WoW to attain #1 MMO user base is unbelievable. WoW has over 10 million subscribers, it will have a long life. Pre-WoW I think each MMO was under 1 million users.

One thing I did read today is that the PVP realms will be FFA. That will be a new experience in gaming for me. Looking forward to that challenge.

I tried the tech test yesterday too and as far as a WoW beater is concerned well...

Let's just say a WoW beater to me wouldn't take much. I'd honestly have more enjoyment over watching two animals flinging poo at each other.

I agree... the endgame in WoW is just horrible PVP and PVE-wise.

I have my copy of AoC pre-ordered.

I think FFA = Free For All.

I hope AoC is something that I can casually pick up like any other game. I don't want to invest anymore than an hour or so every few days or possibly more on the weekends if the nights wind down. Lifestyle doesn't allow a gaming addiction let alone any MMO grinding.

FFA is Free for All. Basically it means you can attack people of your own faction should you choose to do so. It will make leveling very intense.

Been playing WoW for over 2 years, just looking for a change and previous game releases like Vanguard, LOTRO, Hellgate, etc...just haven't done it. This may have the right stuff and may not. But I plan to give it a go.
 
Ahh i see ok but i think i got a hint that its better then wow. FFA is alot better then how gw and wow battle out
