Post Your Mac Setup!

Nice suggestion, I will give that a try, completely forgot the keyboard had a USB slot on it.

hahaha you are hilarious may I please subscribe to your RSS feed?

Those are the Swan m10 speakers.
HOWEVER, the placement that ghostchild has is CORRECT. While the sub doesn't play past 100hz much, anything above 70-80hz is directional, which means the system sounds best when the subwoofer is placed directly in front of the user. The system isn't meant to play loud; it's meant to play accurately. The subwoofer isn't a subwoofer in the traditional sense of a big box that gets thrown in the corner and blows the roof off. Think of it as just reinforcing the lower octaves. If you don't have the subwoofer on the desk, it sounds like crap.

Not really. They've been much worse. (unless you are making a pun, in which case, nicely done :) )

But I like how he put it in his sig :p

Ghostchild gets a lot of crap for that subwoofer (Like EVERY TIME HE POST HIS DESK), so if he finds you annoying for mentioning it, don't be surprised. :p

WIth mac setup ^^. Just got the keyboard and don't think I am gonna get a wireless mouse now... I may just save for a good wacom tablet.

What are the specs on the mini?

10.4.11 (will ugrade to leopard one day) 1.66 ghz core duo, 2gig corsair, 80g hd(prob up this to 120) with bluetooth apple keyboard and wacom tablet... Runs everything I need just fine.

nice setup, Yea im debating getting myself a tablet...

Ya, they are fun to play with and work with. I want to get an intous but the new bamboo's are nice to... If i get one I gotta get at least a 6x9 or bigger to feel more comfortable using one.

hey Prim3, what is that electric pad thing you have called ? And what is it made for photoshop..?

I think it's a graphics tablet - it allows for greater control as well as being more natural to use.

Me thinks that's it...

its amazing to see how far apple got in designing their computers i <3 the aluminum cases on their laptops and desktops and ACD its gorgeous, but im really waiting for laptops and desktops in Carbon Fiber...

You are right. It's a Wacom Graphite 4... I want to get intous 6x9 at least but those are few hundred. I just know I want a bigger one then I got now.

Sony, Asus & probably several others already sell carbon fibre laptops. Carbon fibre for desktops is just stupid; it's an expensive medium to use & is only used because of it's low weight, which isn't an issue when designing a desktop.

But i think carbon fiber looks sweet and Apple could probably make the sexiest macbook pro yet....

I love it, its very fast and i never had a crash thus far. Its very noisy with all of the fans inside. But outside of that very efficient. Its not my main squeeze, thats in the master bedroom. Gotta have an xp machine for compatibility reasons, and the ease of it for my wife. Every pc in my home is connected as a workgroup with simple file sharing turned off. Im still trying to find a program to shink dvd's on this mac so it can burn dvds. Until then, the hp is still my main squeeze.

Mac Powerbook 520c, circa 1994, 25Mhz 68040, 12Meg RAM, (24meg using a RAM doubler) :), Fallon Ethernet dongle, 330MB internal SCSI drive.. 640x480 color LCD, System 7.5.5... bought it brand new back then and 14 years later, the damn thing still works!

Still play Spaceward Ho and Strategic Conquest on it... It's slow but I can surf using IE 4.01

Nice! I meant it.

What do you do with that - is that where you work?

Thanks. No, that's just home for now, but if things work out the way I want it that will be where I work full-time too :-P I do photography (on the side for now, hopefully full-time within the next 2 years or thereabouts) so a lot of heavy Photoshop work, particularly wedding album design. It's overkill, but my 2 year old homebuilt desktop was choking (Athlon 64 X2 3800+, 2GB DDR1) and I was really impressed with Apple/OS X from having the MacBook the last ~1.5 years, so I made the switch switch complete.

I didn't want an iMac and the Mini isn't powerful enough so I was "stuck" with the Pro. I could have configured with just 1 processor and less RAM, but it was ~$1,000 more to get the 2nd processor and 10 more gigs of RAM (assuming you purchase and install the RAM yourself), so I figured might as well because this puppy is going to have to last a LOOOONG time, haha.

Nice! I mean, since that Mac has an 8800GT you can also play games, that's pretty good overall I say! :D

Hehe, yeah it was another $180 to step up to the 8800GT from the stock ATI card and even though I don't game any more (and not many games are ported for Mac anyways) I figured why not? Starcraft was my favorite game of all time, so when Starcraft 2 comes out I'll be good to go if I end up getting into it.

Here are some photos of my current setup. I just got the new 24" iMac a couple days ago, and I am in love with it. I had to give my wife the 15" Macbook Pro to get this, but it's alright. Video editing and Photoshop is so much better on this. Although the Macbook Pro is still in the home, so I can still snag it if I need. I wanted to get a Mac Pro, but I couldn't jjustify the extra expense for just casual video and photo editing.

iMac Specs:
24" Widescreen HD LCD
Intel X7900 @ 2.8
1TB Storage
2600 Pro 256MB
3GB DDR2 667 RAM

The computer under the desk is my gaming rig. I am monitorless right now. The HDMI port on my 24" 246BW went out, so i had to send it off.

Gaming Rig Specs:
Intel Q6600 @ 3.6
Swiftech H2O-120 Compact Kit.
ASUS Maximus Formula SE
2 x Sapphire 2900Pros Modded to XT
150GB Raptor
500GB Storage
4 x 1GB Corsair 6400C4DHX
Antec P182
ABS 800W Power Supply

The gaming rig gets less use as I use the new Mac more. It is such an easy computer to use, and the screen is huge.

Thanks for looking at my setup.
