Post Your Mac Setup!

Still controversial but oh well... Cleaned up the wiring and testing new camera flash... waiting for that new shiny desk..

i think he's using a macbook pro, not a hackintosh

Definitely not a hackintosh. It's a G4 12" Powerbook. There are some open shelves below the desk surface, so it's resting in one of those on top of four NERF gun whistling darts for more clearance ;-)

Mac Powerbook 520c, circa 1994, 25Mhz 68040, 12Meg RAM, (24meg using a RAM doubler) :), Fallon Ethernet dongle, 330MB internal SCSI drive.. 640x480 color LCD, System 7.5.5... bought it brand new back then and 14 years later, the damn thing still works!

Still play Spaceward Ho and Strategic Conquest on it... It's slow but I can surf using IE 4.01

Spectacular!!! That sure brings back memories of my PowerBook 190c (circa 1996). It was my last Mac until I bought my MBP in January. Congrats on that little jewel. It still looks great.

Dual 3.2Ghz Quad Core Xeon 'Harpertown', dual optical drives, 500GB/300GB/300GB HDDs, 4GB DDR2 FB-DIMM, Nvidia 8800GT. Just got the box a few days ago, a true WORK horse. I love it.

How do you like that 30" Samsung? Is it the 305T? I'm seriously considering that LCD for my next monitor.

Finally got the stuff set up how I want it, including new keyboard + keycaps and the banner, etc. Mac Pro is a quad 3.0/8GB with GF7300 until the 8800 is available for it. G5 is DC 2.3/5.5GB. Desk and rack are anthro :)

The Mac Pro turned up at a screaming bargain from a friend, so it's now replaced the mainstay X5DA8/Dual 3.2 Gallatin rig I've been using for years along side the G5.

Anyway, pics all around of the office/war room where I make my living, figured I'd whore it up here :D I do motion graphics, video editing, production and such. The keys are mostly just cause I play, don't do much pro work with em other than quick scores and stuff on rare occasion.

The desk & such:

Notes, storyboards, etc. - super secart so chopped out :noes: I've got a few of these modular boards, whiteboards, cork, etc. I can swap up there for whatever project I've got going currently.

Behind it i has boxes & books, more above it. lolcuffs

To hell with power outages. Keep the pair of boxes up over 2 hours on tired batteries w/ full CPU load.

edit: Previous rack config with G5 + homebrew for reference:

That's pretty pro... and is that mouse a Logitech Revolution?

No offense - but when I saw the "Think different" poster it somehow reminded me of all the Mac fanboys... *shrug* :p

Eh whatever. I dig it and clients who visit always say it's cool

also, what desk is that exactly, the anthro website is absolutely dreadful, i just get sent in loops trying to pick things...

furry pink handcuffs were, haha

the Mac pro and the other mac tower there are a amazing I want a mac so bad but a well $2xxx is just to much, although mac mini is not to bad just wondering how hard it is to put ram in those bad boys.

So... THE MOUSE? What is it?
Heh...Mx Revo :D

Where did you get the rack? I've been looking for something just like that.

Desk and rack are Anthro - really well built, if overpriced at retail..about 2K of stuff there. Good thing I paid nothing for the desk and less than $200 for the rack. Craigslist FTW!
Ikea stuff rocks too though... the Jerker I had before I got that desk. You can see it up against the wall behind the keyboard :p

furry pink handcuffs ftw.
Precisely :)

Thanks! :p

Is it comfortable?

VERY comfortable and very accurate...very smooth on the Icemat too. Replaced an MX 1000 with it myself and couldn't be happier. I use it a lot more stuff than I could use the 1000 for (vs. my tablet) - which is saying a lot because the 1000 is hardly a crappy mouse. I say get one :)

Well, I probably won't get as it's too expensive! :p

Do you ever find your mouse skipping? I get some soft of lag occasionally, it's pretty annoying.

Mine has been doing that a lot lately and it is starting to tick me off. I still have my razer on my desk hooked up, but I only use it for gaming (Logitech for work). Though with the clicking and stuttering lately I am thinking of throwing the MX out.

I've had the same problem with mine lately, it's seems to have progressively gotten worse as the mouse got older... it's become so bad that I recently went back to my MX518... bummer because I really like the feel of the Revolution.... and I do miss some of the features as well...

I think I found a solution for the skipping problem. Instead of attaching the bluetooth dongle to desktop box, I placed it closer to the mouse by popping it into one of my Samsung's USB ports. Seems to be working much better now. Alternatively, you can just do this:

Works as well.
