That chart shows about a 20% drop in brightness for about 1/5000 of a second, or about 1/40th of each frame at 120Hz. There's no way that will be visible to anyone, even subconsciously.
Pixel type (TN vs IPS)
I voted for this. I'd say that it is the most important feature that is often left off of spec sheets (If it isn't listed, it's probably TN). But I haven't really done any monitor shopping in a few years, and I think IPS is much more common than it used to be, so maybe...
I upgraded to 03.21.09.
Looks like there are now perfect blacks in Dolby Vision video using the built-in apps. (I don't think we had that before)
I still see some a raised black level with Dolby Vision through the Apple TV 4K. (maybe a touch darker now?)
I'm still seeing issues with flickering...
The one thing I like is the Paper White option, so you can set the brightness of the UI separately from the game graphics. I'd like to see that in more places, such as the freakin TV OSD and subtitle settings (the apps I've seen have very crude control over subtitle color and brightness). I play...
I’ve had some issues, but not as commonly as that YouTuber. Here’s the worst example I’ve seen. In the first episode of “For All Mankind” on Apple TV+, at 35:19, there is this scene where it clips the black level. It’s some kind of Dolby Vision decoding issue, because even if I set brightness to...
I get about 1/60 of a second extra lag when enabling 120Hz BFI. (about 4 extra frames with a 240 FPS phone camera compared to with BFI off, using a keyboard LED as reference)
120 Hz BFI is one of the reasons I held out until this year to buy an OLED.
I kind of like using the iPad as a camera. What other camera has live-view on a large, high-quality 3 megapixel screen? That said, I don't use it much as a camera, and I don't have a cell phone as an alternative.
A single sheet of 8.5X11 paper at 300 DPI is just about the same resolution as a 4k monitor. Most people can handle more than one sheet of paper on a desk.
With current apps, it may be pointless, but I think there is a long way to go before added resolution is pointless
It's not just about having the newest tech, it's about the implementation. Apple would rather leave out a function than have an underperforming function.
1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
Mostly gaming, web browsing and some Photoshop and other graphics programs. I like the CUDA capabilities of the NVIDIA cards.
2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?
$1500, very flexible, but I'd like...
The 2405FPW is the first and worst LCD I've had. I don't think I could stand it for video use, due to the crushed blacks and colored ghosting. I'd personally rather have a TN. I've used several Dell and other brand IPS monitors, and I'd recommend any of them over the 2405FPW.
My 8800GTS died today. It would not display anything at boot. I searched to see if anyone else had this problem, and found out about the baking thing.
I removed the heatsink/fan, baked the card top-side up at 385° for 9 minutes. 40 minutes later, I put it back together and back into my...
