Maybe on the glossy monitors they should start using the slimlight stuff that help keep glare down, kinda like they do on glasses and museum glass sometimes. It can make a big difference.
Well the X6800 appears to be 2.93 GHz and the Q6700 is 2.66 GHz. So i'm going to guess that the 2.93 is faster than the 2.66 without overclocking :p
Really it all depends if your programs are mutlithreaded. If they are not, then the faster CPU wins, if they are then the more cores wins.
Usually when i had drives that die it lags the crap out of windows. I think it's trying to talk to the drive because it knows it's there and the thing doesn't respond, so windows waits for a response. Eventually it'll time out and move on and assume she's dead.
Going beyond 800 likely doesn't show any difference as the thermal compound should fill everything in and make it have very good contact.
